High School Drop-Outs Could Soon Be MTV Reality Stars

Remember when MTV used to play music videos by talented, legendary artists – artists who actually looked unique from one another, who wrote their own lyrics and even played their own instruments? Well, anyone who can knows those days are ancient history. In fact, today’s generation probably doesn’t even know what the “M” in MTV stands for.
Instead, the network is best associated with reality TV, and it makes sense, really, as MTV was the first to introduce the genre to the impressionable minds of America’s youth nearly two decades ago, with its first “reality-based” program, The Real World. But even now looking back, that show — which explored social taboos and seemed to push the envelope so far — absolutely pales in comparison to seeing the debauched faces of Snooki and the “Situation” as they troll the Jersey shore for cocktails, tanning beds, and the affection of fellow “guidos” and “guidettes.”
Still, despite the apparent lack of “substance” in MTV’s distinct brand of programming, executives at the network are continuing to ride the reality wave, forever in search of the “next big thing.” And this time, according to one report, it might just be a show about high school drop outs. Fortunately for network, there’s no shortage of potential cast members — some who might even drop out of school just to be eligible — as they clamor for their fifteen minutes of fame.
ABC reports on MTV’s “exploratory” casting for the potential show:
The MTV casting call, which has been paired with a “mini-resource fair” put on by the College of Lake County in Waukegan, Ill., and PASS, Positive Alternative Student Services, offers potential reality TV stars “options” for completing their educations and finding jobs.
Now one might argue, that attending a casting call for high school drop-outs in order to explore educational “options,” seems antithetical to a would-be reality star’s obvious mission.
Eighteen-year-old Maria Alvarez of Waukegan plans to attend the casting call Friday. Alvarez dropped out of school last February, saying that family problems were distracting her from her schoolwork, and she started skipping classes.
“I thought, ‘What am I doing in school?’” Alvarez said. “I didn’t care.”
Months later, Alvarez regretted her decision and realized she did not want to work in a fast-food chain for the rest of her life. When she heard about MTV’s casting call, she saw it as the perfect opportunity.
With channels broadcast in over 160 countries and a line-up of shows that many believe glorify drunkeness, promiscuity and overall reckless behavior — including the Jersey Shore, Jackass, Teen Mom, 16 and Pregnant, and Tila Tequila – the pervasive force of MTV has graced, or, some might say dis-graced the world’s airwaves with programs scientifically shown to “impair” people’s “cognitive performance.”
Ironic, coming from the network that once censored Cher for being too risqué.
Below is a video from the ABC report, exploring MTV’s many incarnations:

Posted on June 23, 2011 at 10:16amHere’s some ideas for a new show:
Report Post »1. Spotlight someone who isn’t a burden to society and is trying to better themselves.
2. Someone who can guess with a 50% success rate or better who the father of their child is.
3. Someone who actually doesn’t need the crap beat out of them on general priciple.

Posted on June 23, 2011 at 10:14amWhat do you expect from a network that is run by a (in my opinion) filthy Jew and a Muslim. Do I need to say more. I like Glenn Beck and watch his show time to time. I agree with most of his positions except his position relative to the Jewish plight. One point that Mr. Beck fails to tell his audience is that there are two types of Jews. You have the Lox and Bagel Jews that are really frauds and do not practice the Jewish faith. Just go down the Hollywood list and you will notice tons of them. These are also the Jews who supported Obama and voted for him. These are the Jews that will support and vote for him again. For those of you who are a little slow, let me make a point. Why would a Jew vote for Obama, a guy who surrounds himself with anti-semitics and is doing everything in his power to make sure that Israel is neutered?
The only true Jews are the Orthodox Jews. These are the ones who are putting their lives on the line in Israel on a daily basis. These are the Jews that are trying to perserve their culture and country. The Lox and Bagel Jews are only interested in power, money, and destroying our country and way of life. This is why they continaully spread their perversion to our children using the media.

If they are that bad, let us know: who at MTV are you referring to?

Posted on June 23, 2011 at 11:22amA “filthy Jew and a Muslim”? Once you learn how to hold INDIVIDUALS accountable for their actions and not include their ethnicity, race, favotite team, and what kind of shoes they wear, perhaps then you will be able to understand what it is to be rational and intelligent.

Posted on June 23, 2011 at 10:13amFully 1 in 4 high school freshman in 2004 did not graduate in 2008 as planned. 25.1% was the dropout rate for this group. And not surprisingly the dropout rate rising the further south you move in the US. This is the problem, we need to keep kids in school. No child left behind my ass.

Posted on June 23, 2011 at 9:59amThe downfall of the next generation. To accomplish their goal of leading the youth into socialism/marxism/communism, give them drugs and sex and entice them to drop out of school. Makes it much easier when people are stupid and high. Parents wake up. We need a new moral standard. Bring God back into our society. Without Him anything goes and we are forced to accept the depravity of America. Posted on June 23, 2011 at 10:24amAre the parents monitoring their children? I did and my kids never watched that stuff. I would not let them. My kids are not perfect, but I RULED MY HOME, not them. Most of this is the parents’ fault because the parents used TV as a babysitter or thought it would not be harmful. My kids are in their 30s and none of them are into TV or that generational stuff because I was an iron fist. Some of you who did not raise your kids with morality, do not deserve your children. It is not too late though. You can change yourself first, then apologize to your kids literally and then LIVE WHAT YOUR BELIEVE. They will eventually see you differently. Figure it out. IT IS NEVER TOO LATE FOR ANYTHING. Yes, you may have to eat crow for awhile, but isn’t it worth it to save America?

Posted on June 23, 2011 at 10:20amThis is exactly the reason why our society is degrading. This is absolutely horrible and anyone who watches it should be very ashamed. Watching ANY reality show – what does that say about you? Do you like to watch others in misery? Is this entertainment for you? IF SO, YOU ARE VERY PATHETIC and should reach inside your soul and squeeze it right out. God did not give you a soul just so you could watch someone else in misery or watch others struggle. You are one pathetic person. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED. There is no excuse you can use to justify your stupidity and ignorance. If no one watched these stupid shows, they would go away, but someone is watching them. Someone told me that they watch “Dancing with the Stars’. My first comment was, ‘Is this ALL you have to do in your life?‘ ’ Isn’t there something more rewarding you can be doing?’ They got mad at me. Fine. I would rather spend my time watching wholesome TV/Movies or doing rewarding tasks. Why would I want to DEGRADE MY SOUL WITH CRAP? Is this how you want to treat your heart, brain, and soul? Do you know that everything that goes into you, eventually comes out in one form or another? If you lie with the evil, you become evil. I would never want to spend my time watching these types of shows because ONE, it is a total waste of my valuable time. TWO, I know that whatever I watch on TV is emblazoned on my heart and brain. Try to get that out of you, especially when you watch and R-rated movie.
