High School Teacher Suspended for Starring in Gay Porn; But Some Call It a ‘Witch Hunt’

Mystic Valley Regional Charter School Teacher Kevin Hogan Starred in Gay Porn

An English teacher and crew coach at a top-rated Massachusetts public high school is on paid leave after a local investigative report discovered that the new department head had starred in gay pornography as recently as last year. FOX 25 reports on the man known to some as Kevin Hogan, chair of the Mystic Valley Regional Charter School English department, to others as Hytch Cawke, actor in “Fetish World” and “Just Gone Gay 8:”

Hogan joined the district in September, and administrative officials say they did criminal background checks of Hogan in California and Massachusetts.

One parent to a student who Hogan coaches on crew told Fox 25 that she was “disturbed” and “surprised” about the news. “The kids really love him. He’s been a great addition to the team. He’s a new coach this year. New head of the English department. This is scary.”

Another parent, however, resisted passing immediate judgement saying “Everyone’s innocent until proven guilty.”

The state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, which granted Hogan an educator’s license, told Fox that it would look into the situation, a spokesman added; “We expect teachers to hold a very high moral standard. They are role models for students.”

While several parents in the district expressed disgust when hearing that a gay porn star was teaching and coaching their children, other commentators from outside the district have criticized FOX for reporting the story.

Brody Brown writes in the Huffington Post’s “gay voices” on what he calls a “modern-day witch hunt:”

“In the latest chapter of this fear-mongering crusade, Mike Beaudet, an investigative undercover reporter for FOX Boston, has placed English teacher and crew coach Kevin Hogan in the community’s crosshairs, setting the stage for what appears to be the start of another one of these public crucifixions and character assassinations. ”

Brown also brings into the fray new information that Hogan also edited the recently released first memoir from an African-American in the transgender community, Toni Newman’s I Rise. 

Brown isn’t alone in his defense of Hytch Cawke. Over 100 people have “liked” the Facebook page “Support Kevin Hogan, FIRE Mike Beaudet,” referring to the Fox investigative reporter who broke the story.

“Mike Beaudet is a HOMOPHOBE!” writes one commenter living in New York and from Pennsylvania. “What Mike aired was some BS Sensationalized Tabloid garbage that may have ruined a great teacher’s career,” writes another commenter from and living in Memphis.

Several defenders of Hogan have criticized FOX for publishing an anti-gay or homophobic piece, however, the report makes no reference to the sexual orientation of the video‘s intended viewers aside from giving the film’s titles.

Earlier in the month, Los Angeles-area elementary school parents were outraged after learning heterosexual porn star Sasha Grey was invited to read to their children.

    People get so upset when a coach molests little boy as they should and the should be just as upset at this guy teaching their kids. If my kids were going to this school I would demand that he resign and we need to stop kowtowing to the ACLU and start counter suing them.

      Besides his sexual orientation, is there a difference between this guy and Sasha Grey? I mean, I guess she was volunteering instead of being hired, but neither are currently starring in porn, and presumably not introducing pornography to the classes they’re responsible for. But the other article had comments like “Everyone deserves the chance to be redeemed,” while I haven’t seen any of that here yet. I‘m guessing it’s only because he’s gay?

His personal life has now become a factor in his effectiveness as a teacher, in the confidence of their parents. The man is an idiot. He has no business near anyone’s children.       I respect your right to decide who teaches your kid but this is a past incident that was legal. Is it ok for an employer to go back in your past and find something that he thinks is morally wrong and then suspend you why he investigates.. You may disagree with the choice he made to survive but it was done on his own time employed by no one. I wonder if employers start looking into all employees past and make judgement call would that be ok.

    I reserve the right as a parent to request my child be removed from any class I deem inappropriate for the health and well being of my child, period, end of story. I am not obligated to consider anything in my child’s education other than my child, period, end of story.

    I would request my child be transferred. If that didn’t work my child would be immediately withdrawn.

    The mystery of satan is to get people to believe that evil is good and that God (good) is evil. There is no doubt that here in America our leadership is confounded, our country stagnated and our morals “do what is right according to our own eyes”. Porn stars are now considered good and people of faith are now considered evil. We are witnessing the book of Revelation in our day. Scarey stuff.

      Religion is addictive, makes slaves of people, and changes the structure of the brain, but I don’t think it should be illegal, because I believe in freedom. Freedom of choice is not freedom of choice if it doesn’t it include the freedom to make bad choices.

      Besides, porn is an industry that still brings large amounts of money into this country from the rest of the world. We don’t have many of those left. Pornographers are patriots and job creators. God bless our noble pornographers, helping to keep America great.

      As a Libertarian I believe the Government has no right to ban or regulate anything, even drugs. We have to protect life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. While we also protect our kids from predators by making stiif laws to ruin anyone who harms a child by drugs, alcohol or sex. But let adults do whateve they want to do. You just dont give them life saving medical attention if they have a drug overdose, help them while they are homeless because they drink too much and empower them to stay in positions like a teacher of children if they want to engage in porn or gay activity…

      I dont do drugs, I dont drink and i dont cheat on my wife. If someone else wants to do that recreationally or excessively, let them. They will destroy their lives and we can be rid of them if they dont change. No welfare State. You dont work you dont eat. Let the charitable like me and others help those they want to help and stop stealing my money in the name of welfare!! Let the lazy ass teat suckers starve or get shot stealing.

    Yes, a female teacher was fired for having been a porn star in her youth, however, that was in her youth, and she denied doing this any longer. This gay man has done this as recently as last year. Ok, for those of you who see nothing wrong with it, let their be a school where teachers like this guy, or any other person participating in sexually deviant behavior can teach. Those parents not opposed to such people can have their kids go to the school where these people are teachers. Those of use who see this deviant behavior as morally wrong can send our kids to, what do libs call us, bible thumping,self righteous schools. I would rather error on the side of caution and be called self righteous if it protects my children.

      It’s amazing how many people miss the point entirely. This has nothing to do with “judging” anyone’s “soul.“ Nor does it have to do with sexual ”orientation”. It has to do with the well-established legal principle (google “moral turpitude” if you don’t believe me) that a person’s PUBLIC behavior (and what we do in commercially distributed videos is decidedly public) affects that person’s fitness to teach children. Most of us, for very practical reasons, don’t want someone with such poor judgment and lack of moral restraint that they would appear in pornography of any sort to be held up as role models for our children, nor to be supervising our children in classrooms or (Lord help us) locker rooms. I‘m not judging the disposition or destination of anyone’s soul (that is indeed God’s domain), I’m simply protecting my children. And before you start crying “homophobia”, there have been at least half a dozen nationally publicized cases in recent years of teachers losing their jobs because of appearing (often years earlier) in heterosexual pornography. There are consequences for our actions, and one consequence (among others) of being a porn star is that people just don’t trust you with their kids.

    Why is this shocking anybody? They ran a woman pre-school teacher off because she was in porn in her youth. (do a simple search on the subject)
