Highway Horror: At Least Seven Die in Fiery UK Crash

Seven Die in Fiery UK Highway Crash

Police say at least seven are dead and 51 injured in a blazing pile-up on the M5 motorway near Taunton, England. Onlookers to the crash witnessed a “massive fireball” and the BBC reports that it is feared that more than 10 people may have died in the crash that had taken place during heavy rain and patchy fog. The crash caused delays of up to five-and-a-half hours Friday night and emergency officials have described the crash as “one of the worst they have ever seen.”

RT video shows the blazing inferno:

The Telegraph writes that at least 20 cars and six “heavy goods lorries” were involved in the crash, which police said looked “more like a scene from Afghanistan”, as several cars were engulfed in flames.

ITN video following the crash:

While the weather was said to have made driving extremely difficult, authorities have not yet released an official cause of the crash.

The Daily Mail notes that the accident is already the worst on British roads since 1991 when 10 people were killed and 25 injured in a huge pile-up on the M4 in Hungerford, Berkshire. England’s Transport Secretary Justine Greening expressed sympathy with the families of victims, and thanked rescue workers and emergency staff who worked throughout the night to help the injured.

“The atmosphere among people waiting on the motorway is one of shock,” said driver James Starkey to the BBC.

Just think how helpful it will be to have all the big, un-inspected, Mexican trucks with questionable quality drivers on our highways.

My observations show that drivers do not slow down when the conditions warrant it. And if you ARE the one who slows down when visibility drops for weather, you might be the one to get rear-ended that starts the chain reaction.

When you enter into a bad weather situation DO NOT TURN ON YOUR HAZARD FLASHERS WHILE DRIVING!!! In south Florida I see BAD drivers all the time when it’s raining, they turn on the hazard flashers and then you CANNOT SEE WHEN THEY HIT THE BRAKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They think they are making themselves more visible when in fact you just made it where I cannot see your brake activity OR judge how far you are from in front of me! You are causing accidents by using your flashers! The yellow ones blind you and the red ones are the same light as the brake. Good job making it 10 times harder to track you. If you feel that the situation is soo bad you must use them then pull off the freeway! That is where they are supposed to be used. I can see just fine because I replace my wipers with high quality ones whenever needed, too many just go and do not care or even know when the last time they replaced them. Wipers-$40, not getting mangled in an accident because some fool used his flashers= priceless

to susie, my prayers are with you also. My niece just married a young man from England and i hope he is ok also. To all of you who are making jokes, shame on you. How would you like it if people came on here and made jokes after your friends or family members were involved in a horrible accident? Think before you speak and if you can‘t say anything consoling don’t say anything. No one wants to hear your ill-timed “humor”.

The funny thing is that while most people are curious about the next week of their life, and other people are curious about where they can be that is the safest place, I’m more concerned about what continent will have the next Nation of liberty or if it will be the entire world, because that’s where I will live again someday. Will I be Asian? Maybe. You know that part in Revelation that says you’ll be made a pillar and you will “No more go out.”

Screw this stupid ass story. Nobody gives a crap about what happens in London.

How about something useful for Americans, like the Oklahoma earthquake. pretty sad day when the Blaze gets out scooped by MSNBC. Looks like the Meers fault system is acting up. That could lead to even more serious problems along the New Madrid fault system.

All fault-lines should be called “People’s Fault” because if they weren’t simple, greedy, and insecure then they would remember not to build huge cities near them.

No, LUKERW, it is not the first time, and will not be the last. Too bad for those souls.
There was a terrible crash on the NJ Turnpike way back in the very early early 70′s. Somehow, an accident occured in an area of thick fog. \People heading into the dense fog had no idea what was waiting inside. Crumpled cars, tractor-trailers, more cars, and people who had gotten out of their cars to help were killed.

I later had a job to fix the phone line of a dentist who was actually there. He really could not speak about it. It was obviously a tramatic event for him.

I see drivers with NO HEADLIGHTS on in the fog or at dusk. What are they thinking? Tailgating is another cause of unneccessary crashes, as is speeding.

Absent the rare heart-attack, stroke victim, or seizure victim, there is really rarely an excuse for an ‘accident’.

They should change the Bible to better fit men’s imagination(oh that’s right, that’s already how men interpret the Bible). Say, In the beginning God created men, sky-scrapers, and Interstates. And the buildings were without form and void. And so God said let there be the earth.

10th…….”Screw this stupid ass story. Nobody gives a crap about what happens in London”.

They are humans, 10th, and…yes, they should have gotten off the road if conditions were that bad.

OK, the British are stupid for giving in to PC/NWO, etc, but they are not ‘all’ stupid. You know there were mothers/fathers of small children and small children involved in this. Think of someone burning to death, for God’s sake!

      LUKER,
You can ridicule their reasoning for posting this article all you want to, and they will not justify why they posted it, because they don’t need to. First I would say they posted the story because it is tragic, and the other reason they posted it is to put on full display how forgetful people are about even the weather. If they can forget how to drive in bad weather (even though London gets rain and fog all the time), then oh how much more likely it is that people will repeat the more severe lessons of history. Look at the first real snowfall they just had in Anchorage Alaska? The had some 254 accidents. And then they will turn around and scoff at people in the lower 48 saying, “Look they can’t drive in the snow.”

I may post replies quite often that have nothing to do with the article at hand, but at least I understand the concept of The Blaze, and the foundation of rational behind the stories getting posted in the first place.

Barack Hussein Obama has closed all Interstate Highways, pending the investigation of Possible Flammable Gasoline from BP causing the explosion. He has demanded that BP set up a fund to reelect him as he is the only hope to save the US and the world. And he said a prayer from his rug, for all the Muslim victims, and screw the infidels.

      Touche, Airbourne!
Nothing wrong with a reminder of how easy it is to get into an accident, and that, just maybe, there are times when wherever you are headed can be put off for awhile.
Be careful out there, my friend.
