‘Hijacking Holocaust Remembrance’: Video Slams ‘Anti-Israel Radicals’ at Northeastern University

Americans for Peace and Tolerance/On Campus (APT), an organization that claims to “expose radical ideologies that threaten the academic integrity and knowledge seeking mission of America’s college campuses,” has released a disturbing new video. The group, which deals with issues impacting Jewish students who support Israel, is accusing Northeastern University faculty of “abusing Holocaust Remembrance events for political purposes.”

APT claims the video exposes professors and guest lecturers comparing Israelis to Nazis, disparaging Jews and issuing other unfavorable statements in recordings and e-mails. The nearly 17-minute video does, indeed, raise some questions.

Video Slams Anti Israel Radicals at Northeastern University

“Northeastern is a popular and respected school, but there does exist a problem — mostly confined to a few anti-Israel radicals among the professoriate and the administration,” said APT President Charles Jacobs in a media release. “These individuals have used a chair donated for the purpose of teaching students about the genocide of European Jews to demonize and delegitimize the state of Israel and its supporters.”

Jacobs went on to call these actions “unscholarly, insensitive and hurtful.” Additionally, he said that it is troubling that certain Jewish faculty members are not speaking out about these issues. It is “academic freedom,” Jacobs believes, that is used to protect those who he believes are willing to defame the Jewish community.

In a press release, the APT laid out three, specific actions that it is calling for in reaction to the video coverage that has been released:

1. The University should apologize and launch an independent investigation into how such demonization of Israel and the Jewish community could have occurred on campus.

2. The University should form a new Holocaust Awareness Committee composed of faculty sympathetic to Jewish peoplehood.

3. Professors who claim that Jews act like Nazis are engaging in hateful bigotry. To prevent such bigotry in the future, the University should extend its existing minority sensitivity training programs to include the Jewish people.

    So Israel can do whatever it wants without any criticism? I’m sorry, but with the exception of Manuel Mussallam — whose comments were really crazy and bigoted, nobody said anything that was offensive to a Jewish person on a personal level.

    Besides, if Bill Ayers — an Anti-American terrorist — can teach a class so can they. Tough sh*t, this is America, stop silencing free speech.

    It is truly amazing at the arrogant ignorance of all these learned professors. To begin with, the Jew did not kill Jesus, the Romans and their selected Rabbis did. Then when the Jews rebelled against Roman rule, they were killed, enslaved, and scattered throughout the world. In 1948 the U.N. allowed them to return to their homeland. By the way, those who insist on referring to the “West Bank” as the “West Bank”, need to understand that before that it was Judea and Samaria. The thought of these “learned scholars” and their vile allies in their stance against the only democratic country in the Middle East, teaching students is as repulsive as a KKK Grand Kleagle teaching minority studies or even existing.

    The informed, and educated world have well come to know that six million Jews persished at the hands of Hitler, and his jackboots. What remains in the minority, and the telling of the Holocaust is that Christians, Catholics, Jehova’s Witness, Gays, Blacks, partially disabled and others made up the remaining five Millions that died at the NAZI hand along with the Jews.

    Anyone loving freedom, should indignantly, financially, and by any means necessary rebuke Northeastern Univ staff in support of Palestine and their tactics, so similar to Hitlers.

    The real relevance is that the surrounding countries and the Palestinians tried four times to finish the Nazis’ job for them, and only failed by Divine intervention. They are still trying.

      I live in Israel, and this is correct. We have an enviable record on minimizing casulties among enemy civilians, In fact, many here charge we go too far in protectign enemy civilians, and get our own boys killed.

    I have yet to hear how it is that Israel is committing genocide yet the Palestinian population keeps going up. In fact, there are some who believe that Palestinians may somewhere far down the road outnumber Israelis. If Israel was trying to commit genocide/ethnic cleansing, it has been a complete failure.

      First of all, learn to write using proper sentence structure. I can barely understand what you’re saying. Second, you failed to address my point. The Palestinian population has consistently gone up and kept going up. In addition, I think I should point out that life in the disputed regions Israel captured in 1967 rose in quality as a result of the transition from Arab to Israeli rule. After all, why was it that, after 19 years, there were still Palestinians living in refugee camps. Israel, during the same period, absorbed over 700,000 refugees for surrounding Arab countries in addition to refugees fleeing what was left of Eastern Europe and was able to find room for all of them. By comparison, Jordan, Egypt, and Lebanon did nothing for the 500,000 refugees that came under their jurisdiction. The average life expectancy in the territories went up after 67 and their economies experienced some of the fastest growth worldwide. And on top of that, they now had access to all of Israel’s medical facilities. The only thing holding these people back now are their own leaders, who keep them miserable in order to convince them to attack Israel, which in turn cements the leaders’ power over them.

    My mother earned both her Bachelor‘s and Master’s degree at Northwestern University. It is adjacent to one of the four largest Jewish communities in the United States and has a large plurality of Jewish students. Accademic freedom and tenure are one thing, but they are outright teaching Jewish students to hate their relatives and non-Jewish students to hate their relatives. If the ultimate test of integrity is what you do when you have the power and the advantage, then these faculty have the lowest integrity next to the people who actually kill Jews.

    Big Academia. Big Academic Radicals. Israel is the Nazi state? Why, Professor? Because they are surrounded by Arabs who pray for their destruction five times a day or in between prayers throw rocks at Jewish drivers and slaughter Israeli babies in the night? Their security is tight because of that ceaseless hatred of them. A hatred that even the most “enlightened and intelligent” minds at Northeastern continue to perpetuate. How ironic, that Jewish intellectuals in academia speaking anti-Israel sentiments and hate,were some of the first rounded up and placed on trains in the quiet and early days of Hitler’s campaign for race cleansing and world domination. Big academia is filled with exceptional herds intellectuals who choose to be profoundly unwise, dangerous, and stupid. Dry up their endowment funds immediately.
