Hillary Clinton on Iconic Sit Room Photo: ‘The Way I Usually Look When My Husband Drags Me to an Action Movie’

In a preview of NBC’s rare interview with President Barack Obama inside the White House Situation Room, Obama shared some insight into the moment the room’s now-iconic photograph was taken.
“There’s silence at this point inside the room,” Obama said looking at the photo, taken during the raid that killed Osama bin Laden one year ago.
The one-minute clip also featured Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s reflections on the photo, in which she is famously covering her mouth — and once chalked up to her “early spring allergic coughs.”
Her thoughts on it one year later?
“That’s the way I usually look when my husband drags me to an action movie,” Clinton told NBC.
Watch below, via NBC. The full interview will air Wednesday.

Posted on April 29, 2012 at 8:36pmBush took his eye off the ball and focused instead on trying address the disaster he created in Iraq, something that history may view as a worse mistake than Vietnam. Now thanks to the invasion, Iraq is no longer counterbalance to Iran, a country that is now the supreme military power in the Middle East. Thanks Bush. As it turned out Iraq‘s WMD didn’t exist, and so their threat to the US didn’t exist, and now Iraq has no power in the Middle East. That left Iran the single most powerful country in the region. Iraq isn’t even on our side. Oops.
Thank goodness President Obama is out there killing the bad guys, including Bin Laden, but others through every means available to the US. Bush dropped the ball, Obama picked it up and ran with it.

Posted on April 29, 2012 at 8:40pmThat photo is fake. Image of Obama is distorted and shows him as a tinny little kid. The fact must be that he was not really there and didn’t really know anything. Who does it look like is in charge, certainly not Obama.

Posted on April 29, 2012 at 9:03pmJZS, Really, no WMDs? What do you call 7 tons of yellow cake in a single haul? Tons of chemical munitions? Granted, Iraq’s nuclear program was as near far along as Hussein bragged to the world. But, that bragging was a major part of his downfall. BTW, it was Bill, Hillary, Pelosi, Harry, and many, many other dems who screamed prior to Bush’s presidential win about how Hussein had to be stopped. But hell, it‘s nothing more than all Bush’s fault…right? Bush never took his eye off the ball, and he did nothing more than what all of the top dog dems were promoting prior.

Posted on April 29, 2012 at 9:28pm@Teamarcheson: I remember when this happened there was a deep throat source that said that Biden and Clinton pulled this off without Obama’s knowledge or approval in what amounted to a coup. He was supposedly dragged off of a golf course and into the Sit room right before things happened, but too late for him to call it off. If that story was correct then this isn’t a Photoshop, but you would be right that he wasn’t in charge. His face could support that version of events. He doesn’t look like someone who is running the show.
_IF_ that story is correct it makes it laughable that the Obama campaign is now saying that Romney wouldn’t have ordered the raid, since Obama wouldn’t have ordered it either.

Posted on April 29, 2012 at 7:42pmOh, this is so heroic of Obama. Sitting in a brightly lit room surrounded by equally heroic advisors while real men, real heros are out risking their lives. If he struggled over this decision or considers his actions heroic, he’s the fool we know him to be. Once the military and CIA said that they knew where he was and that they could put an end to Bin Laden, the decision should have been simple. Bin Laden was a rabid, feral Pig and the decision should have take all the effort of one synapse firing to make.

Posted on April 29, 2012 at 7:53pmI know really huh!
What was so hard about making the decision? He did not have a hard time taking Muammar Quadafi down and killed plenty of innocent civilians along the way. His staying the course in Afghanistan has most certainly caused ever more bloodshed there. Didn’t seem like an epic decision here either. Ummm?
This man and this leadership still believe a War of attrition can be won against the forces of Islam. With steady boot pressure applied to the neck of the snake all it will to is writhe until you cut its head off. Bomb Mecca and Medina, throw the bums off the Temple Mount (they never did belong there), cut the Saudis off by taking their oil. Egypt your next! Your entire War machine gets obliterated. Iran? Iran gets special treatment because their special people. Neutron Bomb (threat)! When the Muslims see this, they will submit to greater forces anything else is futile against them. We die every die by a thousand cuts, lets turn the tables here. Islam has got to go and anyone practicing it. Does anyone really believe that once the society pressure has been alleviated that the masses will still follow a false belief? Of course they will not, they will run gladly away from it. They just need to be rescued from it thats all.

Posted on April 29, 2012 at 8:25pmI really have to comment here, since my husband is a SEAL. You are looking at things entirely too simplistic. It was a very difficult decision to do this type of raid for various reasons and your comment is naive because you assume the mission is entirely devoid of risk. They had to assess the risks of flying into a country we are not at war with and are forbidden from using air space. The risks are huge, the birds could break down (which is much more frequent than people would like to think), the Pakistani military could have intervened causing the SEALs to be captured or killed (a major international event), it was possible it was not in fact Bin Laden living in that house, they had to be certain it would not cause significant civilian casualties (as Pakistan would retaliate) and they had to evaluate the risk of the mission failing and Bin Laden escaping again. This is not a simple and routine mission. the risks were significant. Just because you don’t like Obama does not mean you should refuse to accept the reality of this mission. This is not the first time the CIA has tracked down Bin Laden, this was simply the first time a President gave approval for a mission to actually go in and capture him.

Posted on April 30, 2012 at 6:07amNYC Wife – You misread what was said. Obama’s decision should have been simple. You descibe the military side of the decision as to whether to tell a President that it can be done. The Presidents job is to first give the thumbs up to plan for it the operational parameters, his next involvement is a thumbs up or down based on the military saying it is ready. In other words, your husband is a/the hero, not the President and his WH team.

Posted on April 29, 2012 at 6:16pmThe only problem here is that it was totally debunked to be nothing more than a photo op. There was no live feed, and the people in the room were not watching anything.
Good God man, this Adminsitration has no shame.
So they supposedly killed Bin Laden and watched it live.
Then they were exposed as lying about watching it live and retracted and said they were simply “on edge” while they waited for an update.
This still does nothing to explain the staged photo op.
And then we supposedly dumped his body to sea to comply with Muslim tradition.
Then it was revealed that this is not Muslim tradition and is actually offensive and against Islam.
Then another lame excuse was given….
And the members of seal team 6 are placed onto a chopper that is way overloaded, breaks all operating procedure, and killed.
Still not having a problem with any of this?
If this is not bothering you, or your gut is not screaming that something is wrong, then you should not be allowed to remain an American citizen.

Posted on April 29, 2012 at 11:35pmThis, admittedly WAS a staged photo, they were looking at a blank wall. No difference, the REAL bin Laden had been dead for years(per a former CIA Physician) from chronic disease and renal failure. Any real operation would have taken him alive for intel purposes. Why kill him, he was a a DOD and CIA asset, just like al Awlaki. We invented them. Just think, please, if 911 never happened, would ANY American stand still for they tyranny, violation of rights and shredding of the constitution we have been experiencing?

Posted on April 29, 2012 at 5:04pm2012: PATRIOTS LET’S MAKE SOME NOISE :)
“If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.
Find out just what a people will submit to, and you have found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them; and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress. Men may not get all they pay for in this world; but they must pay for all they get. If we ever get free from all the oppressions and wrongs heaped upon us, we must pay for their removal. We must do this by labor, by suffering, by sacrifice, and, if needs be, by our lives, and the lives of others.”
