Game On: First ‘Hillary 2012’ Ad Hits the Airwaves

As President Barack Obama‘s approval ratings continue to stagnate, Democrats’ grasp on the White House in 2012 continues to loosen. Though a lot can happen between now and then, some Democrats have already jumped ship from the HMS Obama, and are instead seeking political refuge with a familiar player in Democratic politics, Hillary Clinton.
The first televised ad for a Clinton-for-President recruitment campaign has officially hit the airwaves, courtesy William DeJean, a Chicago dentist who tells CNN he thinks the former senator and acting Secretary of State is the “most qualified” Democrat to run in 2012. “I’m a dentist and I don’t think this country is headed in the right direction,” he says.
And what about Chicago’s own hometown hero?
DeJean adds that he thinks people are having buyer’s remorse about President Barack Obama and says the current administration is ruining the Democratic Party.
DeJean’s ad is currently receiving air time in New Orleans and is planned to run in other major cities, including Washington, New York and Los Angeles.
Unless Obama steps down from a run at a second term — something highly unlikely — Clinton fans shouldn’t get their hopes up. Earlier this year, DNC chairman Tim Kaine insisted the Democratic Party would renominate both President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden in 2012. Still, there are historical precedents for an intraparty challenge to a sitting president. In 1968, Eugene McCarthy gave then-Presiden Lyndon Johnson a run for his money; Ronald Reagan challenged incumbent President Gerald Ford in 1976; Ted Kennedy gave a spirited try at unseating weakened President Jimmy Carter in 1980; and Pat Buchanan challenged Bush 42 in 1992.
That said, anything can happen in American politics.

Posted on September 3, 2010 at 12:06pmI would say that Margaret Thatcher was an exemplary Prime Minister, and have no reason to think it unatural for a woman to preside over our country.
It has nothing to do with gender, and everything to do with character, principles, and resolve.

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 8:35pmYes good point – right now (at least in my mind) there are no viable affirmative alternates. It shouldn’t have to just be vote for me b/c I am not Obama….it should be someone who can say. Vote for me because I am so-and-so and I stand for X and will do Y.

Posted on September 3, 2010 at 12:15pmTo that point, we need to close the “REAL” pub primary. I know of no one (especially back East) that actually voted for McCain in the primary. I take that back, I found ONE guy that claimed that he voted that way in the primary.
So, who crossed party lines and voted for McCain? Acorn?
McCain never had the true conservative support from anyone…….Why then, did he get the early lead??
By the time the red states primaries were held, the choice had been made……by someone else.
Think about it……

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 8:18pmI thought the music and the imagery were both pretty pretentious. Hillary running for president is hardly a “shock & awe”moment like the ad portrays. She’s just another “consummate” politician who, for some ungodly reason, wants to put herself through the torture of the undead as President of the United States.

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 8:17pmIt will be very interesting to see if Bill Clinton gets drug into the impeachment hearing for Obozo, he is already on the record saying he helped Obama try to bribe Joe Sestak – it could get very ugly for Slick Willy in 2011. Maybe he’ll wind up behind bars after all – he can help Hillary drum up the inmate vote!

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 8:01pmHello fellow commentators. I am just curious what others think – as things stand right now at least, who do you think is best equipped or most capable non-democrat to win the white house in 2012. I know it is a long way off yet, but at least right now it seems that if a non-dem wins in 2012 it will be less because of what that non-dem did and more because of what the dems have done. Any thoughts?
Right now I could possibly see Huckabee making a strong run; Palin making a run but I don’t think she could carry it; and that’s about it. Romney seems dead in the water to me and I don’t see anyone else really. What do you all think?

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 8:33pmI definitely like Ron Paul and agree with that. Chris Christe? That is interesting – I think he has a lot of work he has to do to get himself better known on the national scene. And NJ is such a mess right now (not his fault) and I guess we will have to see if he can bring some positive fiscal change to the state. So far he has seemed to be fairly honest and straightforward. Not including the current small mess with the firing of his ed secretary after losing race to the top funds. I just want to see some people starting to offer specific solutions and steps forward. I may be unaware – but it seems everyone is gearing up to run on “Obama messed up….” but I haven’t really heard specifics. For example – when Boener, Pence, and Cantor have been asked about how to pay for tax cuts they can’t answer those questions….wonder who is going to start offering specific alternative policies.

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 10:44pmWhy does it have to be a non Democrat? I mean, I don’t care what party someone is as long as they are the best person for the job – scratch that, as long as they deserve the title and will do the country good – don’t think for one second that just removing Democrats and installing more Republicans in the house, the senate, and the oval office will fix any of our problems. We need to elect the right people, and we’ve already proven in some places, like AZ, that not enough people are paying attention, because they still put John McCain up for the Republican nomination, and he’s just as bad as the worst of them! We either need to fix BOTH parties, or create a new, recognized party. Tea? Maybe. But at this point many people see Tea Party members as ‘tea baggers’ and discredit everything associated with the Tea Party for it. How does placing our faith in someone with a (R) next to their name help? It doesn’t. We have to repair the Democratic party too, otherwise it’s just us vs. them. At least if we can get some Democrats with some moxy we can have a chance of Republican hating Democrats (like my family, and like they tried to raise me to be, even though they are pro life and anti gun bans… weird) voting for someone that can still help the country! Where are our like-minded citizens who have the ability to go under Democratic cover and try to secure a place in their party so we can get some EFFECTIVE legislation worked up and passed? Rather than having lots of people fighting for a Repblican spot and dividing our own? How many ‘good republicans’ are or were trying to get a nomination, and missed it because there were more than one republican to choose between, just like you want to see with Hillary Clinton and Barrack Obama? Think about it. Just saying. *points thumb over shoulder* i’m just gonna go back to my rock, now… sorry for the interruption.

Posted on September 3, 2010 at 5:44amWell, I do think Palin could carry it. She is much more experienced and talented than either Billary or Bozo on the dem side and as far as either McCain, Huckabee or Romney, well , they had their chance and blew it. Marco Rubio impresses very much. Young and can articulate in ways that simplify issues and clarifies them easily. Sarah Palin has been demonized by the left for the express purpose of eliminating her as any kind of a candidate and yet she has won every time. She is strong and smart. A Maggie Thatcher and a Ronald Reagan all wrapped up in one darned attractive package. She and Marco Rubio would make a great team. Can you see them up against either Billary or Bozo and Biteme? After what the country has learned from Glenn. Bless his heart, we all know what the dems have planned for this country. There may even be more candidates who can carry the conservative side, such as Michelle Bachmann, too. But for our first Lady President, if that is to be, I sure do NOT want it to be Hillary Clinton. She is the one who likes to beat up on Israel using Hamas and Hezbollah , under the guise of a palestinian state, as the club. I just wish Bibi would tell them all to go straight to hell and send Iran with them. So, NO to Hillary or ANY dem this side of 50 years, thank you very much.

Obama did is job ! Obama care and appointments. Hillary will just move to the center and move the Democratic message forward with less public discord. The Dem’s are putting it out there to get Palin to make a move. We must stay focused and on message and watching the other teams playbook on the famous chalk board. I’d love to see Beck run, but not with Palin, although I love Sarah, I don’t think she is ready for the WH. I know that sounds oxymoron because Beck has never run for an office, but Beck seems calmer to me and wiser, so if anything, Beck and Newt Gingrich would be perfect!
