Hindus Denounce Pro-Paul Ad Attacking Huntsman, Mary Kaye Huntsman Calls Ad ‘Disgusting’

 

Hindus and Jon Huntsmans Wife Denounce Attack Ad From Pro Paul Group

A controversial web ad released on Youtube Wednesday by “NHLiberty4Paul” attacking Jon Huntsman’s values has already drawn criticism from both Huntsman and Ron Paul. Now other parties stereotyped in the offensive video are speaking out.

The ad cuts back and forth between video of Huntsman speaking Chinese and footage of him with two of his daughters that he and his wife adopted from China and India. In between footage and photos, the ad presents questions like “China Jon’s daughters: even adopted?”,  “The Manchurian candidate. What’s he hiding?”, and “American values? Or Chinese?” before closing with “Vote Ron Paul.”

Jon Huntsman has called the ad stupid, and Ron Paul has denounced it, with his campaign telling The Boston Globe that he has no connection to the video and does not know who made it. Now Hindu Americans are also speaking out, in particular objection to one image presented in the ad:

The image of the Huntsman’s adopted Indian daughter Asha Bharati with her father, following the question “Share our values? A man of faith?”, has infuriated the Hindu American Foundation.

“This deplorable ad is blatantly racist and religiously intolerant, and crosses all lines of acceptable political discourse,” Suhag Shukla, the foundation’s managing director and legal counsel, told CNN Saturday.

“Instead of vilifying Governor Huntsman, he should be applauded for being open-minded enough to raise his adopted daughter as a Hindu,” she said.

In the photo both Huntsman and Asha are wearing a red tikka, a mark associated with the sacred and often seen on foreheads at Hindu ceremonies and temples.

Huntsman‘s wife Mary Kaye has also come out in strong criticism of the way her husband’s record, and the Huntsmans’ adopted daughters, are portrayed in the ad.

“Whoever did it is absolutely disgusting, and there is no place for anything like that.  We would never do anything like that,” Mary Kaye told The Daily Beast. “Jon will always be fair. He may contrast where he is and where another candidate is, but he will never stoop low and go to the core of somebody’s character.”

Rep. Paul told CNN that he disavowed the ad and had no control of his supporters’ actions.

“Of course I denounce it … but people do that, and they do it in all campaigns,” Paul said.

      SpinMD – you remind me of the Pharisees who put their legalism over their spiritual sense. The Mormons have produced good fruit, upstanding and moral members. It is known by everyone how family oriented and wholesome most of them are. And Glen provided convincing evidence that the Indians had heard of Jesus and had artifacts that described him. They even found one that had a depiction of the 10 commandments! How does that happen unless their was some kind of bridge between the land the Jews inhabited and this continent? You put your reliance on scripture to the avoidance of your own senses. Jesus did not agree with this. He healed on the Sabbath because spiritually life is more important than going by the letter of the law. Maybe the Mormons have something real. Why are you afraid to examine that possibility?

    In my research it appears this “ad” was produced by Huntsmen’s people and uploaded to play the “victim card” and get a bunch of free publicity. Where is Beck and the media’s journalism ethics on this. I think Ron Paul is owed apologies and retractions from all media outlets that tried to smear Ron Paul with this bogus story!

      The examiner is claiming that the campaign *linked* to the video, and therefore uploaded it. Which is sort of specious.

      It’s not the link that was telling, but rather the rapidity of the link, and that it was linked by him and his daughters before anyone else. It’s certainly not a smoking gun, but it’s at least cause for suspicion.

So far, the evidence points towards huntsman campaign of which there is plenty of evidence. And really, why would Ron Paul or any of his supporters care about Huntsman?

      If Huntsman himself was behind the ad that’s wrong, dirty politics, and underhanded. But, that doesn’t change my opinion of Paul, or especially a rather large chunk of his supporters.     They should denounce it. It’s an F2, SPT attack from Huntsman’s own campaign. As that truth is brought to light it only serves to discredit Huntsman. The “ad” was tracked back to source a few days ago when it first appeare, and has no link to the Ron Paul campaign.

    Huntsman will raise his Indian daughter as a Hindi? lol! I seriously doubt that! He’s Mormon and she will be raised Mormon! Duh!

      Nevermind, I found it. Huntsman creeps me out. Interesting that his crazy eyebrow doesn’t do up and down when he is speaking Chinese.
