A hitchhiker writing a memoir about the kindness of Americans was taken to the hospital Saturday night after what authorities described as a random drive-by shooting in Montana.
The Billings Gazette reported 39-year-old Raymond Dolin of West Virginia was sitting on the side of a highway waiting for a ride when a man drove up in a maroon pickup, shot him and drove away.
Valley County Sheriff Glen Meier told the newspaper Dolin is working on a book titled “The Kindness of America.”
KXLH-TV reported Dolin sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the arm but was able to flag down help and get taken to the hospital.
Authorities began a manhunt for the driver of the pickup, ultimately arresting 52-year-old Charles Lloyd Danielson III in connection with the shooting.
Meier told KXLH there does not appear to be any connection between Dolin and Danielson.
“It appears to be an absolute random event. They did not know each other. They did not have a confrontation. He just drove up there and shot him. We’re unclear as to why,” Meier said.

Posted on June 11, 2012 at 5:17pmthe LUST FOR FAME causes people to ‘write’ books and do stupid things to prove their stupid ideas.
There are many people who are Godly and good in America, but progressive pagan theists have destroyed the value of them in the media, education system and culture ‘norms’
I’m sure he will spin this somehow –
wouldn’t it be ironic if the guy paid the shooter to do it – for publicity? I don’t put anything past people anymore

Posted on June 11, 2012 at 8:57pmHere’s a fact: Secularly, kindness is generally deemed a sign of weakness from the street thug culture up to the highest levels of movers and shakers. It’s odd how a solitary individual can turn into a rude jerk as soon as there is an audience. Not all people are jerks… but it sure is glorified.
Report Post »Keep at it, fellow West Virginian. There are kind people everywhere… and it’s all a matter of choice. Hell, here’s a medium that kills kindness… the vaunted Internet.

Posted on June 11, 2012 at 4:04pmThis is why nobody in their right mind hitchhikes anymore. If he‘s smart he’ll go home and write a book about how screwed up in the head people are.

Posted on June 11, 2012 at 3:49pmSelf defense?
The question, why did he have a gun, by itself is not incriminating. It is an amended right in the Constitution.
Seeing as how he has a record of ill-repute and had obtained a gun, both of those facts together are valid questions.

Posted on June 11, 2012 at 5:20pmIts Montana, of course you have a gun in the car. Usually a rifle. Its like nobody here is understanding about the west at all. Its Montana, everyone has a gun. For good reason. Its like America used to be before all the cheese eaters took over. You might be out on the road by yourself with NOTHING for 100 miles in any direction. There could be wild animals like bears, or highway robbers, or Indians or any number of other things out there that need killing along the road, to protect yourself and your pure family. If that guy sitting by the side of the road looked like a dirty hippy or something close to a dirty hippy, OF COURSE HE GOT SHOT. Thats like a big DUH. Some good ole Montana boy sees a dirty hippy sitting by the side of the road, mebbe he shoots him so as the hippy won’t accost some motorist who might stop for him not knowing the atrocious things a hippy can do to an unsuspecting motorist. I guess its kinda like the ending scenes of “Easy Rider”. Blammo…

Posted on June 12, 2012 at 12:48pmI Carry a fully loaded gun in my car everywhere I go. I also do it Legally with the Blessings of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the local (liberal I may point out) Sheriff. Also anyone may carry a loaded gun in their car in Colorado, same as in your house. No license needed.
Actually when I was getting finger printed for concealed carry the Sheriff stopped by and chatted congratulating me and my wife on getting our license. (of course since he was running for re election that may have had something to do with it.)

Posted on June 11, 2012 at 2:49pmThe reason he did it was he wanted to. They may need to look around for this is likely not the first one the man has done. He is probably a serial killer. He is too old to not have done it before, chances are. The shooter should be looked at very closely.
