‘Hits a Raw Nerve’: Mother Outraged After Kindergartner Forced to Sit in Class With Poopy Pants

A Missouri mother is seeking school policy reform after her kindergartner had an accident in class and was humiliatingly forced to sit in her own waste for an extended duration of time.

The 6-year-old daughter of Lisa Skidmore from Washburn was in class where the teacher had given students an opportunity to use the restroom before a testing period during which they would not be able to leave the room. While the test was in session, the little girl said she had to go but teacher said no. Unfortunately, she couldn’t hold it long enough and pooped her pants.

Watch the KY3 report:

Skidmore said when she picked up her daughter, she still was covered in diarrhea. Skidmore said the teacher didn’t excused her daughter from the class nor did she clean her up. The little girl was forced to wait out the testing period and for her mother to come get her. In some act of benevolence, the teacher did provide the child with a plastic trash bag to wrap around herself.

“You don’t even treat a dog that way,” Skidmore said disgusted with how the situation was handeled.

Lisa Skidmore (Image: Video screenshot0

The girl’s father said, “If any parent sent their kid to school with crappy pants, those parents would be facing with criminal charges. I believe that with all my heart.”

Although the family is not pressing charges, they are seeking some reform on the school’s part for when a child expresses an emergency bathroom situation. The superintendent of the school told KY3 that he disagreed with how the situation was handled and has expressed to teachers how incidents such as this should be taken care of — or prevented — in the future.

The news anchor explained the school was in the process of taking a state standardized test when the incident occurred. Although the testing did not apply to children at this level, the kindergarten teacher was holding to the strict testing guidelines to prepare the children for what they would be met with in the future.

JAYCE, I am with you 100%. Here in Ohio we have had an outbreak of a stomach virus that has caused allot of adults to have accidents. This teacher needs to be not only fired but sued along with the school district . This poor child will be tormented by this for years to come. The other fsmlies should rally behind this family in support.

The question I have is, Would the teacher be allowed to leave the classroom, if they felt like they could not hold it in, or would they have to poop themselves, and stay in it for the duration?
You can probably answer that question rather quickly!!!!
Maybe a punishment, for the teacher, needs to be, take some of their next pooping, put it in their pants, an make them sit down in it, for the same time period!!!!

Jaycee, you are right on AND these parents need to reconsider. Something similar happened to me as a child, only 27 years ago, and it sticks with you. Sooooo, I have told my kids- if they feel stomach issues at school that are going to manifest themselves down south- tell the teacher they are going to throw up. They ALWAYS get a pass to go to the bathroom and there is NO issue.
This kid is going to be subjected to ridicule for years. Guaranteed.

I agree this was deplorable, but sue the teacher AND the school district? That’s the kind of mindset that has gotten us where we are now. Why does everybody feel that they have to SUE? If this is the teacher’s first issue, it was a mistake, and she should be reprimanded. If not, she should be fired. That is all the action that needs to be done. Nobody deserves to exchange money for this……That’s just a ridiculous notion.

She told me she didn’t believe me, and so I went back to my seat and puked all over the girl who sat in front of me. i should have puked on the teacher.

I agree with you JayCee, but the problem is unless people start showing these inhuman monsters there are consequences to their actions this treatment of all of us will only grow worse. In fact they will act this way with ever increasing impunity. How many hundreds of similar stories have you read in the past 5 years, which continue to occur because of the never ending attitude of letting it go; “Although the family is not pressing charges”? A criminal who decides not to do wrong because of the possible consequences to their actions has in effect been deterred from what they otherwise may have done.

The treatment of this small innocent child is both inhuman torture and criminal, every day we read yet another story like this one. When this girl is 50 years old she will still have scarred memories of this event. In subtle yet important ways her thinking is forever altered. Allowing another to care for the child all day does not remove the parents responsibility. At what point in time do people say enough? A taser is a deadly weapon, yet stories crop up without end of children being tased and handcuffed as if they were violent felons. As long as those responsible see no consequences to their actions things will go on without end. The last time children were forced to endure this they were in WWII Germany stuffed in boxcars heading to cyanide showers. We are being conditioned to accept these inhumanities.

When I was in sixth grade we were giving team oral reports on some big assignment (I remember there was a diorama involved). My team was up next, but my bladder was about ready to explode. I told the teacher I had to go, but she said I had to wait because I couldn‘t miss my group report or I’d fail the assignment. I begged, she refused. Yep, totally lost it and soaked myself. My standing in that class was forever altered and I became the butt of every joke and was physically abused daily. Luckily my parents moved a few months later and I didn’t have the abuse too long, but 40+ years later this still shows up in my dreams from time to time and it HAS changed me in a lasting manner. I think if my parents had sued the school and made a big deal about it to me and to the rest of the class it might have made a big difference in my life. These parents need to act for the mental health of their daughter!

Public schools are not broken. They are producing exactly the result they are designed to produce. Read up on the beliefs of John Dewey, the founder of modern public education, and you’ll find they are doing the job they were designed to do. They are designed to produce a passive, atheist, socialist product that may or may not be able to read or function in society. When the people of the USA start rising up and removing their children from the schools en masse every time a story like this surfaces, then you may see the modern public schools scrapped and replaced with something that produces active citizens, Christian in belief, conservative in philosophy, who are productive and capable. As long as parents continue to be passive socialists who rely on the government to raise their kids, this will continue to be the result.

@AngieA, Washburn looks to be in rural SW Missouri in the Ozarks. You can likely count the number of black people in that town on one hand. The likely white teacher is lucky she didn’t get an a$$ kicking. She’s may have to find employment in another location because that town is small enough that everyone is going to know what she did and where she lives.

Grown ups solve problems without running to the police, and the courts. There was no physical injury, however inhumane the teacher’s actions. The teacher has no doubt been confronted and reprimanded, and she no doubt will remember this incident much longer than the child, unless the parents keep it in the forefront. I would hope that the school administration will scrutinize this teachers overall performance. However, parental attitude that amplifies the situation does not benefit the child. The way a parent handles a bad situation has more effect on the child than the incident itself. Teaching the child to cope with adversity is more important to emotional health than an on going legal fight to financially punish the teacher and the school district.

Jaycee–you are correct. I for one am sick and tired of these “public servants” treating our children less than animals. If we were to do this to our own child, CPS would have us in cuffs. If we were to do this to our pet, the local SPCA would have us in cuffs. And you tell me that the most that will be done, is the superintendent will discuss how these matters will be handled in the future. Not only should this mother demand, DEMAND, the firing of this animal teacher, because I can tell you that any woman who has an ounce of maternal instinct takes this child and helps to clean her up or at least contacts her mother immediately and removes her from class to shield her from the embarrasment. This animal has no remorse. I think that THE BLAZE readers should contact this school board immediately and make known their thoughts and defend this child because nobody else will. Google the school district Southwest in Seligman MO and you can search for their emails. I did. My email and letters go out tomorrow. Shame is a powerful thing.

Whole lot of over-reaction here from arm-chair educators. None of you were there! Why did this child not toilet when she was given the opportunity? Where is there any mention of sickness? Is this the first time that she did this? Does she suffer from a physical and or mental impairment which makes her unable/unwilling to toilet when she should? If her parents are the kind of people who would call 3 on your side for something like this – I would bet that their daughter is one of the many kids who feel that the rules do not apply to them, and disregarded the teacher – and this is the outcome.
Please also note that It took her mom longer to drive to school than she sat in class with poopy pants.

Bottom line – The student did not follow directions. The teacher did. And now we should “tie the teacher to a chair until she soils herself” Good lord this country is in trouble!

Name the teacher on social media and let the court of public opinion decide her future. I would imagine most parents would refuse to allow their children to be in her class. Yet ANOTHER story serving as an advertisement for homeschooling. Thankfully most educators are not like this woman. Don’t see how she can retain her job after such a display of not only lack of compassion but lack of common sense. Also deplorable is the principal not having the guts to be shown on camera. This actually happened to me about 10 years ago. I was teaching 1st grade. We had just returned from recess, had called for a bathroom break, then began a lesson. The thing is, once one child gets excused, it is a chain reaction of hands raising for the same thing. Easier to nip it in the bud and teach a lesson. Unfortunately…. sometimes it backfires (literally).

Now, to be fair, we don’t know what time of day this happened, and how long the teacher was aware of the situation, or how long this child was “forced” to sit it messy pants.

And folks, ease up on the “traumatization” stuff, we all get over bad things in our lives (unless we’re Democrats, then we just internalize our guilt and shame).

Well, thanks for the advice to ease up on the “traumatization”. Unfortunately, you don’t have the first clue when it comes to bullying. Bullying can be at the hands of fellow students or teachers, as recent news articles have reported, and as I personally experienced as a child. Depending on the severity of the abuse, it can range from one day to never being able to recover from it. Many victims of bullying (and they are victims) must carry their pain through adulthood, and many require medication just to get through each day. So, don’t bore me with trivializing “traumatization”. It’s real whether or not you think it is!

This incident is just one type of bullying and yes, this little girl will probably be reminded of it for a long time. And yes, she will probably be teased and taunted about it for a very long time. I only wish that her parents had enough guts to take this to court.

I can speak from personal experience on this one, I was in grade 3 and 7 years old at the time and I only peed my pants. That was over 45 years ago and I can still remember distinctly the shame I felt. The teacher got me to clean myself up and she must have cleaned up the mess in the room. I had a dress on and did not soil the dress because I was standing right next to her desk asking to go to the restroom. I had waited too long because I was shy and afraid to ask if I could go. I was a rural student and no one bothered to call my mother to tell her to come and get me, so I had to spend the whole day walking around with no socks on just my bare feet in my urine soggy shoes. It was winter and I remember being really cold. I can still tell you what I was wearing that day: a white shirt, brown jumper, brown leggings, and black shoes. I can tell you that I had a peanut butter and jam sandwich for lunch and that the most popular girl came over and offered some nice thing from her lunch box to try to make me feel better. I remember getting home and giving my mother my soiled cloths and her asking me what they were, therefore I knew that she hadn’t even been contacted by the school. It was a Monday. I felt totally humiliated by the incident. As an adult I have wondered why my mother wasn’t called so that she could bring me some clean cloths. I was wet, cold, and stunk like urine for 7 hours.
Oh well, crap happens. I‘m sure she’ll be over it in no time.

Um, don’t care if it causes you problems as a teacher when you allow one kid to go the bathroom. Hate to tell you this but THAT IS WHAT YOU’RE PAID FOR!!!!! If they‘re not training you on how to deal with things like that or how to notice when you’re about to have a real problem or not giving you the authority in the classroom to be able to put a stop once they all start figuring out that they can raise their hands then we need to deal with that as a separate issue. HOWEVER, this was a PRACTICE exam and she should have excused this child IMMEDIATELY. Also the whole ‘traumatization’ thing is a big deal lady. If it were the teacher who was forced to **** in their pants because maybe they didn’t have to go when the bathroom break was given and did because of the DIARHEA once class began. I don’t care there is NO EXCUSE for this. ANY HUMAN BEING can recognize an emergency bathroom need from a normal one and any parent worth their weight in salt would hands down. Not to mention that she shouldn’t have sat in the pants at all. Giving her a plastic bag constitutes that she knew what happened and then even made it worse of a humiliation to the kid. My kid would be pulled out of that school immediately and i wouldn’t stop until that teacher faced criminal charges and/or lost her job. If she can’t see an emergency like this coming she has no business being responsible for kids in the first place. PERIOD!

You are wrong. The trauma can remain a life time. The teacher is there for the student, not the other way round. If the student needs to use the bathroom, the teacher, if necessary, she escort the child to the facilities. You do not ignore the needs of the students no matter how much of an inconvenience it might seem to be to the teacher. You are wrong and that teacher was wrong.

Wow!! What a bunch of tirades! First off, I am no liberal whiner. You can call me arrogant if you want, that is your subjective opinion, but no one who knows me would accuse me of being a liberal, social-services-calling, double-standard hypocrite. I don’t even know how you get that from what I wrote. Also, I am no longer a teacher (feel free to pile on to that).
Secondly, I’ll admit that I think this universal War on Bullying is a load, but that doesn‘t mean I think it doesn’t exist. It’s part of life. Learn how to deal with it and thrive.
Thirdly, a teacher can’t leave 25 students to walk one down to the restroom. Nor are teachers mind-readers. In my case, I was asked one time by my student and I said no. In retrospect, maybe too harsh, but who in this world gets to go back in time?
Fourth, everyone here expects teachers to teach effectively and intelligently, not just be babysitters. Now try to justify that sentiment versus the accusation that I am simply whining because it made my job too laborious to both teach AND let kids go to the bathroom/drinking fountain/office whenever their 7-year-old fancies figured it was time.

Who ARE you people?? I thought this was the personal responsibility, self-sufficiency, overcome your obstacles crowd!?!

There is absolutely no hope for you. We are talking about a kindergarten age child. You should In no way be involved with children..You still do not understand your errors.. your blind ..
The damage you did to any kids under your “supervision’
Is overwhelmingly disturbing…May some Parent gets wind of your disorder then takes the right measures, as so you never see the inside of a school again. You are a child abuser and you will be judged.. if not in this life .. Then in the next. Count on it

Public Schools. What can be done about them? They are failing in every state. Everything they do seems to be backwards. Since the federal government got involved the ride has been all down hill.

Solving the problem is easy, PARENTS ARE NOT INFORMED OF THE THINGS THAT GO ON IN THESE SO CALLED PUBLIC SCHOOLS! PARENTS NEED TO BE INVOLVED, IN THE CLASSROOMS, P.T.A. AND ANY OTHER GROUPS YOU CAN FORM WITH YOUR CHILD IN THESE SCHOOLS! IF YOUR NOT WILLING TO CHANGE THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS(GET RID OF TENURE) AS A PARENT THEN DON‘T BITCH ABOUT OUR COUNTRY AND THE SHAPE IT’S IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Again, the Teacher is the bully. All of these Anti-Bully campaigns and it’s the teacher who is the big bully. Stomach Flu? For goodness sakes teach, why punish the whole class who are trying to concentrate. This teacher needs to be fired-or transferred to the city sewage treatment facility.

My wife has returned to teaching first grade after not teaching for a few years and the stories are pathetic. It is becoming obvious that the number of good teachers that truley care about the kids and want to educate them has dropped dramatically. It seems more than half of the teachers are mean, abusive and think of the kids as a burden. In the teachers lounge they actually make fun of the slow kids and have even said how one of the autistic kids is so easy to make fun of …

Parents MUST check out their schools and ask to be able to check in on whats going on in class. Talk to your children and make sure they understand that a teacher can be a bully just as much as the other kids.

Many kindergarten kids have crapped their pants in class. Unfortunately for this little girl, mr 8eck has decided to name her and plaster it all over the internet forever so I guess you’re right, she will always be remembered as the little girl who pooped her pants. The teacher could have at least hosed her down and stuck her back on the roof.

Actually they don’t name the kid, they name her mother. Besides if somebody is desperate enough to research the internet for the time you had an accident in kindergarten, I think they’re going to have a little difficulty in convincing other people that someone is a bigger loser than they are.

As a mom of 3, and not a teacher, what I would have done is discreetly taken the child out of the room to the nurses office and called her mother. Period. This teacher “provided her with a plastic trash bag to wrap herself up in” ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?! She must not have children and has no business in a classroom, that’s all I gotta say!

Teachers of this type are the ones that allow bullying to exist in our schools! This young child will always be vulnerable to bullying by anyone in the school now. The school and teacher(s) are responsible for our children and grandkids well-being and if they can’t or won’t do the job they were hired to do and take responsibility to oversee the care of them. Fire them! Union or no union! No excuse! She is lucky these parents are pushing for reform and not her scalp! I wonder, does she have kids of her own, hope not!

Yeah I agree, this will definitely affect her down the line. I remember when I was in second grade and in the bathroom with another girl from my class, we were at the sinks when a teacher came in and used the facilities. The other girl started making fun of her peeing and ever since I’ve had bathroom stage fright.
