HOUSTON (AP) — Houston snapped a four-game losing streak while receiver Andre Johnson and cornerback Cortland Finnegan were ejected for fighting in the fourth quarter of the Texans’ 20-0 win over Tennessee on Sunday.
Arian Foster rushed for 143 yards and caught nine passes for the Texans (5-6), who were on their way to their first shutout since 2004 when Johnson and Finnegan got into a fistfight midway through the fourth quarter.
Finnegan set it off by pushing up Johnson’s facemask at the line of scrimmage. Johnson ripped off Finnegan‘s helmet and landed at least two punches to Finnegan’s head and neck. Finnegan tore off Johnson’s helmet before players and referees intervened.
The incident ended a tumultuous week for the Titans (5-6), who’ve lost four in a row.

Posted on November 29, 2010 at 12:09pmNobody here has been in a fight. Come on. Just because it was on a football field and not at your work. Its all about thugs and wussies and whatever other name you can think of. It was a fight with fists. Not guns or knives or metal bars or beer bottles. People who fight like that deserve all the name calling and more. These people are not role models. Quit treating them like something they are not. Having said that, maybe everyone should find the post game interview with Johnson. The fight was uncalled for, but how he handled himself, knowing what was going to happen to him was respectable. He owned up. He apologized. Didnt blame anyone and said he was prepared for the punishment that he caused. Now, if he does it again, then respect is out the door. Everyone makes mistakes. Its what you learn from those mistakes. Finnegan, on the other hand, is just a piece of work. That’s all I got to say about that.

Posted on November 29, 2010 at 6:58amWhile obviously the league has to punish them, this display was like watching two high school girls going at it. Back in the day of legal head slaps, clothesline tackles and quarterbacks not wearing panties, the legal stuff was much worse than this.

Posted on November 29, 2010 at 6:19amJust goes to show how smart they are by taking off their helmets. You suppose to grab the guard and bring your hands together. I would have let them duke it out. Now they are going to go home mad at each other.

Posted on November 29, 2010 at 6:04amZZZZZZZZZZZZ…………………..I boycotted football years ago for the very same reasons as ‘BURNTEYE86’. I also began to see those empty-headed morons on the field were being followed and supported by the same off the field. More and more people became so wrapped up with football, their lives seem to depend on it, the clothes, the glasses, the flags, the $$ to get into the game, the $$ to buy the crap, ESPN, the number of old-worn out players that couldn‘t get another job that now have a job speculating but now it’s choreographed by ESPN where empty-headed morons hang on their every word, the gatherings, speculations of who is going to win, who is better which leads to fighting, punching and we‘re back to the beginning of THIS story now aren’t we?!
America and it’s obsession with sports and what it has turned sports into reminds me of Rome and the Colosseum–disgraceful! We are better than this!

Posted on November 29, 2010 at 2:09pmGive me a break. You say the people playing football are “empty-headed morons”? I bet you wouldn’t be able to understand the depth of football if Bill Parcells himself explained it to you. This game is not just physical,it is highly mental. Most people on this board would not be able to disect a defense or even run a correct route, let alone make a good decision on an option route while running full speed with layers trying to decapitate you. You truely underestimate these players.

Posted on November 29, 2010 at 8:47pmI couldn’t agree more Never, 11 empty headed prima donas doing every movement, in sink, every task assigned so as to make the whole function forward. The brains, self discipline, doing your job the way it has to be done, all in sink, all together, all as 1. You can’t find 11 guys in ANY company that could do this for a second. Football IS life, and in life s**t happens. Just another lesson to learn.

Posted on November 29, 2010 at 2:38amExcellent point. I won’t buy ANY American car or truck – even Ford – until they abrogate their union contracts. The teachers’ unions are a menace and they have to go. Football players? Why do they even need a union? Don’t they negotiate their contracts individually? Dump the union, guys. Get better agents.

Posted on November 29, 2010 at 12:29amif you dont care dont watch. Second, all these highly paid “thugs” in my opinion have nothing to do with it. I understand where you are coming from. Football is brutal and when you are hitting each other every play in the face, chest, etc. I think almost everyone posting on this wall might lose it after a few plays in a row getting your head rocked back just as the ball is snapped and to top it off the corner back who is doing it throws the first punch into the side of your helmet. Give some of these dudes a break.
I do agree many are highly paid “thugs” but I think many many of us could, on a bad day fight with another player. It happens all the time. Even between teammates, ie Steve smith of the panthers breaking his teammates nose in practice punching him.
