Hollywood Writer Describes ‘Coming Out’ As a Conservative

Hollywood Writer Describes Coming Out As a ConservativeA-list director and writer David Mamet is an Oscar and a Tony Award-nominee and a Pulitzer-Prize winner. A true rarity, this successful Hollywood screenwriter has “come out” (as Fox put it) as a political conservative. This, of course, can be tough in a world that is dominated by left-leaning minds.

In an interview with FOX News, Mamet discusses why he stopped embracing liberalism. He chats about Hollywood’s “herd mentality” and says that “…the essence of liberalism as I understand it, in its aspect of being a religion, is that you have to protect the lie.”

Mamet has a new book out entitled, “The Secret Knowledge” in which he discusses his conservative views. Watch the interview below:

Mamet also appeared on Glenn Beck’s radio show today to discuss these same issues:

The good people of America have finally had enough of the morally bankrupt agenda of the Left. Hooray!!! The movers and shakers in Hollywood will inevitably be forced to reflect the values of our soon-to-be-elected Conservative and PRO-LIFE majority if they want to remain in their mansions and fancy cars. The bottom line is profit. It’s all about how we VOTE and how we choose to spend our MONEY. We will succeed!!! Keep it up!!!

Good, Very, very good. The “closet” conservatives will one by one start to come out as they draw courage from Mr Mamet. Soon they will notice that, despite their occupation and local, they are not alone. they will find, in fact, that there are many, many of them that have been silent for too long. It is then that the true rat liberals will stand out as the scourge that they are. When Hollywood falls to the conservatives, the nation will start to heal. The smut, nastiness and Godless garbage, which is the hallmark of the liberal, that has been force fed our populace as “entertainment” will swing violently back the other way. And, if we are lucky, the point in which we strive as a society, will be the day that most of us, when given too much change back at the drive-through window, will politely give it back. When most of us are proud of our country, our children, our heritage, our culture and ourselves. Maybe, just maybe, someday.

This is fascinating, good for David Mamet!
It is interesting to see this about Hollywood lately….and it is also true about the world of illustration and children’s book publishing. If you don’t carry water for the diversity, multicultural, green, liberal agenda and are verbal about it….you will see other artists chosen for projects before you.

This happened to me…….I was always much more liberal, from a long line of liberals until 2008, Obama. Then EVERYTHING changed and the scales fell from my eyes.

Mamet could not longer be a liberal… he’s a CRITICAL THINKER. I have seen/read just about everything he has ever done and enjoy that he can find humor in the unfunny, absurdity in the mundane and truth in the enveloping lies that surround us all, daily.

A true original, he is. An artist who exposes truth without cheaply using shock as his only medium.

The Dixie Chicks? I’m surprised they are still around! Who buys their music anyway? The radio‘s don’t play them at least none of the Country Stations I listen to. I have listened to stations from NV, UT, NC and XM none of them play the Dixie Chicks. Everyone stopped the day I don’t even remember her name and I was a huge fan, opened her mouth and put down the United States.

I do remember hearing that the two sisters have started a new band together although I don’t remember the name. I like them and the third singer ruined thier career by opening her loud mouth. Kind of a shame. I really don’t know that she spoke for all three of them.

Dixie Chicks, just a tiny memory in music that ended badly. And that’s a shame they had a good thing goin. That’s what a lib gets for openin her mouth in a conseratives back yard….shut out. And never let back in.

So, he now buys the nonsense belief that “liberalism” is an ideology. And buys the talk-radio cult view too.

Thie review from Amazon says it for me:

“. I expected the punchy, pithy Mamet of his plays — lots of profanities, many unforgettable lines — but certainly I wasn’t prepared for the droning, professorial, passive-voice-fixated great bag of nothing that is this book.

I can‘t say I’ve read F. Hayek and the other gods of conservative idolatry, and so I can‘t claim to have had my intelligence insulted by reading Mamet’s paraphrases of their tenets. However, attacking an entire class of people (all liberal arts majors are dunderheads who will never know the value of a dollar!) is the oldest and most dishonest rhetorical trick in the world.

Like Obama, whom I despise as much as Mamet does, he sets up straw men and women, stereotypes and ridicules them, and then dismisses them, with absolutely no reference to reality. Instead of an interesting saga of how-my-mind-changed, the reader gets a snootful of pedantic platitudes that — as another reviewer has pointed out — can be heard any day on talk radio. He demonstrates early on how “college students” (oooh, they’re sooo evil!) are taught to bite the hand that feeds them — then proceeds to do exactly the same thing. ”

      Too bad.

Whenever I hear an actor/actress come out and with Pavlovian assertions, salivating far left inanities on cue, I say to myself that, “here’s a butt-kisser trying to please her/his plantation owners.”

They know that their next role could well hinge or whther or not they espouse the far left party line that they’ve undoubtedly heard ad nauseum at one Hollyweird party or another. They go along to get along.

Then there are the true converts like Jean Garafalo and Susan Sarandan who are so weak-minded they’ve bought into far left radical concepts heart and soul, with just a slight nudge.

The practise of tribalizing American society…… plantation-owning radicals stupidly believe……. is going to assure that no one single group is ever dominant, which….according to their perverted thinking….will assure the bogeyman, nationalism, will not pop up and, therefore, no more holocausts will occur. Absurd and childish.

The fact is that this contentious mess of squabbling factions ensure that such a situation is MORE LIKELY to occur, because there is no doubt we are headed for civil upheaval on a grand scale, because of a loss of law and order, added to the deteriorating economic conditions that will eventually devolve into complete bankruptcy.

      @Susan Harkin

You left out the good part of that article:

“The House Committee began its investigation of communism by issuing subpoenas to several writers and directors, and asked “Are you now, or have you ever been, a member of the Communist Party?” They were ordered to reveal everything they knew about communist tendencies in their co-workers.

Ten of these witnesses defied the Committee and refused to answer its questions. They were defending their First-Amendment rights of free speech and association, they said.

They were also hoping to save themselves because they were, or had been Communists, and knew that public admission of this fact would end their careers.

They had broken no law by being a member of, or sympathizer with, the Communist Party.

But communism was now loosely defined and fully criminalized by public opinion. The Ten knew that the studios, bowing to public pressure, would fire them if the fact came out in public. Nor could they be certain the government wouldn’t prosecute them.

For their refusal to cooperate, all Ten were cited for contempt of Congress. Most served time in prison. All were effectively banned from working in the movies.
In 1961 one of the Hollywood Ten, Ring Lardner Jr., wrote an article for the Post on his banishment from the film industry.
“Forced confessions, or disavowals, were what the committee was clearly demanding, and I felt it was an abuse of the legislative function that needed challenging.”

“This is why I say let the trolls on here motivate you to convert a liberal today. Once you get them to start thinking about the issues , most will come to realize they are actually conservative themselves.”

      That reminds me;
Back in 2008 Michael Moore walked around the floor of the Republican Convention asking delegates for their opinions on various government programs and regulations – the delagates supported most of them.[ie clean water, clean air, safe public streets, Social Security etc etc.]

Michael Moore showed those conservatives just how “liberal” they really were.

      It was great!

Good to hear that at least one of them has come to their senses.

Liberals- this might be your last chance to jump ship……but think of the planet and don’t.

I love creative people. But they are vulnerable to Hollywood’s pressure to toe the company line, to go on the fast track with the herd of political liberals. It is like Manson offering to his group of lost children in his helter skelter days: sex, drugs, rock ‘n roll, and destruction of the soul.

You know what? God bless the guy and his family. He is going to come under merciless attack for this. We need as many in the conservative “truth” camp as we can get. We need to welcome our new brother into the fold with open arms. Better late than never.

What he needs to do now is to create a script so that a movie can be made outlining the lies and treachery of the left. Remember this, most folks are too lazy to read a book. But, watching a movie is easy by comparison. Do it now!

@SusanHarkins – there is truth in what you say.

We have to stay VIGILENT, folks!
Once these wackos take hold of a place, it never goes away. Yes, look at Hollywood, Look at San Francisco where the hippies started and just a couple miles from 2011 “Hippie U” aka, Berkeley.
