Home Depot Co-Founder Apologizes for Being a ‘Monster’ That Created ‘320,000′ jobs

Appearing on CNBC this morning, Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus went on a rant against the Obama administration for demonizing big business owners and “apologizes” on behalf of job creators who are “monsters” and “disgusting human beings”:

Who should people be angry with?:

It seems the longer Obama is in office lying to the American people, the more believable are the statements Larry Sinclair made public about his relationship with Obama. Furthermore, let’s dare to see this President paste his Birth Certificate on his forehead.

This reminds me a little of the great Rick Santelli rant of Feb 2009. Most folks credit Rick‘s speech on the floor of the exchange as the straw that broke the camels’ back and the start of the Great New American Tea Party revolution. That video is fun to watch again… just Google, Rick Santelli rant.

Very pithy RR. I was unaware of that policy at HD. If true, I‘m sure it’s been a more recent decision by the board of directors rather than a decision by the original co-founders. It’s strange how, as a business grows, they always try to placate the left and have little concern for the customers and shareholders they may lose on the right with their political business decisions. Those of us on the right are expected to accept anything, while the left demands outrageous concessions. Maybe that will start to change when they see how many of us there really are on Nov 2nd. Should I consider selling my HD stock? I too have decisions to make. I love this new Blaze site. I’ve made it the homepage on my browser. Great stories that you won’t find anywhere else. …rf

This is true, we closed our accounts with them and shop at PC-neutral Lowes. However ironically, in ‘06 Ford was under boycott for this reason and lost up to 15% in sales, having to trim down it’s workforce and streamline the biz when they finally said enuf! and promised to go neutral. I credit that boycott for making them the leaner company that it was when this recession hit, and for not needing the taxpayer buyout. I think in the long run that when HD finally goes neutral and also quits providing IA services, they too will be a better company for it.

Look at what it takes to hire someone. Look at the laws and regulations. The schools launch their products into the workplace and never bothered to prepare them with decent ethics. The labor force in some places isn’t worth the effort. I had a small shop that started in the local Swap Meet and grew. I did everything myself. I would have loved being able to hire someone to help…but it was a brick wall. I worked at it until I retired, and closed the doors.

Yes I have. I worked for a guy that was starting a business took home less then we did owned a old broken down car, had debt up to his eyeballs, owed more than he had in assests.
So by definetion he was poor at the time.
but he had 30 people working for him paying there salary.
The very last person to get paid is the owner of the company.
my dad had 5 employees and by the time he paid there saleries and bills he took home 300 dollars a week. If it was not for my mother making a good income the 3 of us would have been living in a 2 bedroom apt.
I know of a lot of people out there that are starting small business that actualy make less than there empoyees but they are building a business that one day will make them wealthy.
If you have never started a business you do not know what these people go thru to build something up and put everything on the line. so when they make it and are worth a lot of money they deserve it becuse they work there A$$ off to build a business.
SO IF YOU NEVER STARTED A BUSINESS AND KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO BUILD WEALTH THEN SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ALIENGUNS – Were the Obama Administration to take over a lemonade stand (not that they would want to), the first thing they would do would be to pump an inordinate amount of money into the construction of a permanent stand, secure adequate office space for the administrators, hire someone to track negative publicity of the lemonade stand, and then insist on shutting down all competing lemonade stands in the area on failure to meet Health Codes, ADA requirements, or for failing to implement sufficient diversity in their workforce.

Now, having cornered the market, they would neccessarily have to jack the prices on the lemonade up significantly ($20/cup), but they have a plan for that – called “Cash for Empties” where they will allow you to turn in an empty beverage container for a $19.50 credit towards a lemonade drink, but they will only do this for a short while, until the end of the present quarter, when they can applaud themselves for “rescuing” the stand and saving or creating aprox. 27 jobs (including the counter help, the maint. crews, the workers that built the building, the folks that file the “Cash for Empties” program documentation, and of course, the folks in the main office that oversee the operation), all of which earn the oft-mentioned “living wage,” an amount that allows the worker to meet all their basic needs (including housing, food, and medical care for a family of four).

At the end of the quarter, after the press release hearlding the saved or created jobs, all you will be left with is a small office building, an over-built lemonade stand, and no real way to sell lemonade any more since the price is $20/cup without the “Cash for Empties” program… But that just leaves the door open for the next emergency stimulus plan, building on the unprecedented succes of the first “Cash for Empties” program.

Thanks! I thought about adding hyperlinks on each point to show that I wasn’t making it up, but I figured most here know the background info already…

I saw a post by ABC’s Jake Tapper where he re-iterated POTUS’s question “why is the election so close in CT?” – I hit 13 points before my thumbs got knumb from entering it from my phone…

      Here’s a copy:

      “So why isn’t the race in Connecticut –- a state that hasn’t elected a Republican senator since 1982 — a no-brainer?”

      Let me help POTUS:

      1) Chris Dodd was identified as a hack who refinanced with Countrywide as Fannie & Freddie went into unsupervised meltdown, to the tune of $400BN

      2) AG Blumenthal tried to claw back AIG “bonuses” which were in fact simply ballon payments for crucial employees that stuck with AIG at the Gov’t request to keep it from bringing down the financial system.

      3) the Democrats “they suck worse” campaign strategy is weak.

      4) The very fact that you (the Democrats) feel entitled to every elected office in CT is, to many, offensive.

      5) Democrats have controlled the purse strings, been responsible for gov’t oversight, and were given super-majorities in both houses two years ago (which have weakened slightly over time), AND STILL your party insists on playing the victim.

      6) You’ve spent phenomenal amounts of newly-acquired Chinese debt (Trillions) trying to ‘right the economy’, and all you have to show for these expenditures are some hollow-sounding reminders that “it could have been worse,” many Americans find that hard to believe, even though you could be right.

      7) People resent being told “trust me, I know better than you, and I don’t have time to explain it to you (and you likely wouldn’t understand it if I tried)”

      8) You put academics who have never been on the private sector payroll, let alone ever been responsible for making a payroll in charge of our economy, GM, and some people find that insulting and or arrogant.

      9) You have a drawer full of lobbyist waivers for cabinet-level appointments, some dated the day after you signed what many to be a pledge to kick lobbyists out of the Gov’t.

      10) Whitehouse staffers find complying with your self-imposed transparency regulations, so they use private email accounts to arrange off-the-record meetings with lobbyists at a near-by coffee house – this even appalled the New York Times!

      11) You attack Republicans at every opportunity, and frankly, it’s starting to turn-off moderate Democrats, who find the insults to not be very “Presidential.”

      12) You’ve rammed Stimulus bills, Healthcare Reform, Financial Reform, all thousands of pages long, none of them understood by even their “authors” or “sponsors” – I can think of no other administration that has proudly said (as Speaker Pelosi did) that the politicians need to pass the bill so that we the people can know what’s in it.

      13) Your attempts to deny reality by expanding the scope and coverage of nearly every health insurance plan in America and insist that it shouldn’t increase costs to the consumer have fallen flat. Your vilification of the healthcare industry will blow-up in your face when insurance companies go on the attack, defending rate increases with indisputable facts.

I could go on, but that should be enough to get you started on your journey to understanding why CT may be having a hard time trusting the Democratic machine in CT this fall.

      POVERTY.SUCKS:
Yes it does, BUT Jesus Himself said, “you will always have the poor with you’. We can never abolish poverty. It just will not happen. If you think it will, you are spinning your wheels and wasting precious time. Each of us has a duty to help those we can, but beyond that, we need to do other things. If every single person found just 1 family to help, yes, we could make a dent, but remember the most important thing of all: AS LONG AS THE DEVIL RULES THIS WORLD UNTIL THE END OF TIME WHEN GOD PUTS HIM IN HIS PLACE, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SUFFERING AND POVERTY. It is evil men, who are led by Satan, that cause injustices, evil, poverty, etc. So, that tells me one thing: GET RIGHT WITH GOD AND THE BATTLE WILL BE WON FOR YOURSELF. GOD WILL GUIDE YOUR EVERY STEP. Ask HIM for help. God gives us FREE WILL so He will not force you to serve Him, nor will He make you come to Him. That is your choice. WHOM WILL YOU SERVE? There is absolutely NO IN-BETWEEN. You cannot serve the devil and God at the same time. It is absolutely impossible. If you serve evil, then you do not belong to God. So, I say to you, get on your knees, ask Him for forgiveness and allow Him to rule your life. THEN, YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO, PROVIDED YOU CONTINUE TO SERVE HIM. I am living proof (poverty to success).

Poverty-sucks… yeah it does and believe me, there are people around the world wish they had OUR level of poverty in THEIR country. Let me explain:

For most Americans, the word “poverty” suggests destitution: an inability to provide a family with nutritious food, clothing, and reasonable shelter. But only a small number of the 35 million persons classified as “poor” by the Census Bureau fit that description.

Most of America’s “poor” live in material conditions that would be judged as comfortable or welloff just a few generations ago.

Fortysix percent of all poor households actually own their own homes.
Seventysix percent of poor households have air conditioning. By contrast, 30 years ago, only 36 percent of the entire U.S. population enjoyed air conditioning.
Only 6 percent of poor households are overcrowded. More than twothirds have more than two rooms per person.
The average poor American has more living space than the average individual living in Paris, London, Vienna, Athens, and other cities throughout Europe.
Nearly threequarters of poor households own a car; 30 percent own two or more cars.
Ninetyseven percent of poor households have a color television; over half own two or more color televisions.
Seventyeight percent have a VCR or DVD player; 62 percent have cable or satellite TV reception.
Seventythree percent own microwave ovens, more than half have a stereo, and a third have an automatic dishwasher.

There are two main reasons that American children are poor: Their parents don’t work much, and fathers are absent from the home.

While work and marriage are steady ladders out of poverty, the welfare system perversely remains hostile to both. Major programs such as food stamps, public housing, and Medicaid continue to reward idleness and penalize marriage. If welfare could be turned around to encourage work and marriage, remaining poverty would drop quickly.

As a small business owner i.e. money-grubbing capitalist, struggling to keep our heads above water, I applaud Bernie Marcus for his stand! That burger Obama loves – restaurant owned by a money-grubber, beef raised by money-grubbing ranchers, those clothes Michelle wears – sold by money-grubbing retailers, designed by money-grubbing designers, and on and on. I assume a money-grubbing pest control company took care of the rats (altho I thought they were supposed to get lawyers before they were condemned to death). Nov 2010 and 2012 can’t come fast enough!
