Home Depot Co-Founder Blasts Obama: Even ‘Brain-Dead Economists’ Get It

First it was Steve Wynn, head of the famed Wynn resort empire, speaking out against Obama. Now its Bernie Marcus, co-founder of The Home Depot.
In an interview with Investor’s Business Daily (IBD), Marcus blasted Obama and his policies, saying “even brain-dead economists understand that when you raise taxes, you cost jobs.”
That’s some tough talk. But really, it’s only the beginning:
IBD: President Obama has promised to streamline and eliminate regulations. What’s your take?
Marcus: His speeches are wonderful. His output is absolutely, incredibly bad. As he speaks about cutting out regulations, they are now producing thousands of pages of new ones. With just ObamaCare by itself, you have a 2,000 page bill that’s probably going end up being 150,000 pages of regulations.
It gets even more direct:
IBD: If you could sit down with Obama and talk to him about job creation, what would you say?
Marcus: I‘m not sure Obama would understand anything that I’d say, because he’s never really worked a day outside the political or legal area. He doesn’t know how to make a payroll, he doesn’t understand the problems businesses face. I would try to explain that the plight of the businessman is very reactive to Washington. As Washington piles on regulations and mandates, the impact is tremendous. I don‘t think he’s a bad guy. I just think he has no knowledge of this.
Those are some harsh words. And as we get further into this administration, it’s becoming all too common. However, Marcus‘s biggest revelation may not be about Obama’s policies, but more about his administration’s alleged thuggery. According to him, CEOs are scared to speak out for fear of retaliation:
IBD: Why don’t more businesses speak out?
Marcus: They are frightened to death — frightened that they will have the IRS or SEC on them. In my 50 years in business, I have never seen executives of major companies who were more intimidated by an administration.
“Out of the mouths of babes,” the Bible says. Nowadays, it’s out of the mouths of business leaders.

Yet the thing is, as the man here points out, Mr Obama is one of the worst, if not THE worst POTUS the nation has ever had. Everything is closer to collapse, to dissolving away, and falling into the new set of structure that the socialistic progressives have been building for the last 100 years.

Posted on July 22, 2011 at 9:38amThis just goes to show how out of touch this administration is with business leaders. It also shows you how regulations and higher taxes have hurt the business climate in this country. This POTUS has to be the worst yet, he has absolutely no idea how this economy and country works, and shows us every day how incapable he really is to be our leader. It also saddens me to see this POTUS take us down the road to serfdom, communism, or whatever you want to call it – sure isn’t capitalism or free markets anymore. Bush at the end of his term abandoned free markets too…point being, we’ve had horrible presidents from Bushy I to Obumma, they have all ruined this country, and don’t give me that Clinton BS either, had there not have been a Repub congress, things could be much worse!
Congress is not any better, all they can do is spend and raise taxes – what is it going to take to get this country back to greatness – fix the debt (spending) and elect anyone but a Progressive/Liberal. Liberals should stick to ART and MUSIC and get out of the business of ruining our country. Progressives need to be totally disenfranchized because they are socialists, and we have fought wars against those kinds of people – get em out of our country, along with the Muslims, illegals, communists and black panthers!

They continue to speak and opine as if Obumbler actually has the best interest of this country at heart. He most certainly does not! Once you realize that he’s enabling the collapse of our economy, the motivation for the disconnect between his words and his actions becomes clear. I don’t think this is the action of “a nice guy”.

Posted on July 22, 2011 at 10:26amI’ve said it more than once: Make every congressman/woman as well as the President and First Lady pay for their staff out of their own pocket. They’ll learn what a small business owner goes through trying to keep up their own standard as well as employ people. It will also cut a lot of money from the budget, and I’ll bet the staffs will be smaller, and their wages will be more equal to the public sector. They should also have to pay for their own vacation travel expenses. And if they choose to fly home all the time instead of staying in Washington, they should have to pay for that, too. Come on, at their salaries they can afford to make some sacrifices.

@13 Imam — I was young enough to hear the stories of the gas lines and oil embargo against the US in that time; I shudder at the thoguht of it happening again, especially with this President we have.
I honestly am awaiting news any day now, with the strain on the national power grids, and the so called “Warnings from HSA” about the domestic terrorists, on power plants and the like, for Obama to declare there is a national energy emergency or such and federalize everything under his direct control.

He knows he’s being observed and evaluated. I‘ve never seen conservatives feeling as if they’re on the hot seat as Beckel does.
Incidentally, this T.V. show in place of Glenn is a really poor substitute. Obama’s reach is long and he has his “boys” everywhere, even in state and local govt, just waiting for a chance to “make their bones” by taking down anyone who dares question or protest Obama policies. Remember what these thugs did to the Chrysler dealers? Successful, longtime businesses were forced to close because they had not contributed to Obama’s campaign coffers.
Regardless of where he was born, Obama is culturally and politically foreign, and does not share our love for America, our respect for the law, or our sense of common decency, and he WILL go after any CEO who speaks against him. No single CEO can make a difference, but if they organized and stood together against him, they might be able to at least slow down his destruction of our country.

Posted on July 22, 2011 at 8:56amI know, all this shock and surprise over his poor performance proves how little people paid attention in 2008. His total failure of leadership doesn’t shock or surprise me. If you read anything more in depth on Obama than a bumper sticker, you could see this coming.
