Home Depot Founder Calls Protesters ‘Babies in Adult Bodies’

Ken Langone is not known for sitting on his opinions. Last summer, the co-founder of Home Depot made headlines with his stinging criticisms of President Obama.

During a Friday appearance on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” the outspoken Ken Langone told interviewer Andrew Ross Sorkin exactly how he feels about the protesters in Zuccotti Park.

Mr. Langone closed this segment by taking Sorking to school on what he (Langone) believes to be the main problem with the growing American dependence on welfare.

Ten years ago, we started hearing about soccer & little league games where no score was kept and everybody won. Five years ago it was “helicopter parents” calling their kids college professors to complain about their kids’ test scores. Throughout it all, there were warnings: that if you coddle your kids too much they‘ll grow up being entitled little brats that can’t handle reality.

Now they’ve grown up, and the warnings have come true.

This is a movement of the precious little snowflakes.

When faced with the cold hard truth of the world, they throw a collective temper tantrum.

    Generation Whine.

I learned about this coming storm in all places….a Navy course in Total Quality Management in 1998. The instructor…an older civilian tossed out these theories that had been in practice somewhere over the rainbow but I thought…really! Man I’ve missed out! Always passed over for even making the team pick behind the gas station just among the city kids who played baseball with no coaches and no adult supervision. If I had been born just a little later I would have been spared the indignities of being picked last for either team. No everyone gets to win. Thats why everyone is special I suppose. No one is a real loser, no one lacks anything because everyone must accept and respect your shortfalls. No encouragement to really do better, because there is no real shame in being last place, not even if your unable to even play the game…for real. Sad! We’ve become a nation soaked in guilt of being better than we actually are, so we most hold back the masses for the weak, weak minded and infantile. That way everyone FEELS so good that no one is looking at them for losing the GAME. Nice going professors.

It’s absolutely hilarious that all these “insightful” comments do nothing more than bash the protestors, while ignoring the fact of the matter which is that the MORTGAGE BACKED SECURITIES FRAUD is why Home Depot is hurting so bad, and so is the rest of the country.

Home Depot has seen a decrease of..what …16% in sales?

      http://www.theblaze.com/stories/these-are-america%e2%80%99s-8-worst-performing-retail-chains/

      5. The Home Depot
      Drop in sales: 16.6 percent
2005 sales: $81.5 billion (restated to $77.1 billion due to HD Supply, August 2007)
      2010 sales: $68.0 billion
5 yr. change in stock price: flat

The Home Depot is the world’s largest retailer of building materials and home improvement products. The company has over 2,200 stores worldwide. The chain has been badly damaged by the housing crisis, which began in earnest in 2007. Home Depot’s prospects were also hurt by the presence of Robert Nardelli, who operated the chain in the first half of the decade.

One of Home Depot’s greatest challenges is that it has a large direct competitor in Lowe’s. The other is that the housing market has shown no sign of a recovery.
      __________________________________________________________________________________

OHHHHHH….so let’s blame the OWS protestors… for Home Depot’s OWN problems because of the economy… and bad hiring…

Given that the entire construction market is down 34% and H.D. is down only 16% I’d say they are weathering the storm quite well. Less than half of the national average.
H.D..’S founder hit the nail on the head these protesters are a bunch of full grown babies. The problem is they’re being protraited as the norm. which is hardly the case. Most of us have the intellect to avoid the pit fall these baby adults have put themselves. And those of us who weren’t smart enough had parents that refused to sponser a 25 year old adult.
I’m currently renovating my home every week-end think I’ll do my part to help a company whose founder has enough brass to tell it like it is. So I’ll be getting my new granite top, cabinets and tile for my kitchen from H.D.

Redistribution does NOT create equality. Having someone hand you a freebie does not let you learn certain life lessons – the concept of the rewards of hard work, self-independence, integrity of character, etc.

Everyone is born with a 50/50 chance to succeed in life or fail. It is the individual’s choices in life that will determine the end result. It’s all about having a sense of responsibility and, as Langone puts it, self-respect. What the OWSies don’t get is that NO ONE is going to hand them anything for nothing. All the stomping and screaming will NOT change anything.

What a rant your on. Happy much. Didn’t see where Langone supports a homosexual agenda. But I’ll take your word for it. I‘ll take it that he doesn’t want to see homosexuals discriminated against & he believes that the condition is genetic. Right or Wrong that is his position. Somehow I don’t think his position would be as radical or as stupid as Alan Ginsberg, a noted Homosexual.
A person can reason well in one area & not so well in another. Just because Langone doesn‘t reason so well when it comes to LGBT issues does not mean he doesn’t reason well in other areas. I read Langone’s bio. He is amazing. Home Depot is just one of the myriad of things he is involved in. Maybe if you expanded your reading , you might be a happier person. Just a thought

Do you know who is running this country? Have you heard of the Rothschild family? Goldman Sachs? Lehman Brothers? Deutsche banks? JPMorgan chase? Check it out. Don’t forget about Bavarian Illuminati & The Discordian Society. I’m betting you will be surprised and a bit scared by this unless you are one of them. Don’t forget about the pharmaceutical companies (for crops/plants) that are buying all the natural (organic) seeds in the world that are then genetically modified.

When a farmer sows these seeds they grow beautiful fruits that have “suicide seeds” and thus the farmer HAS to buy more seeds from the corporations instead of saving their seeds (like it has been for generations) thus food gets more expensive. Check out Monsanto’s GMO, DuPont and Syngenta. Let me know where to find reazonable priced natural and nutritional food.

Check out The Gerson Theraphy and search cancer and diabetes (specifically type 1) cures, the natural way, while you are at it too… and know that there has been a cure for cancer and many other illnesses. The Pharmaceutical companies (for people) drugs/medicines make more money then organic food, alternative medicine and plain ol’ vitamins… so let’s keep letting millions die for profits.

so tell me if I’m wrong here… You are happy with the way things are?

So when I say that I am protesting against CORRUPTION. Specifically, I am protesting against the corruption within the government & the greedy (powerful) corporations that push the corruption within our government. I am protesting the Banks that new exactly what they were doing when they purposely murdered thousands of people’s dream of owning a home and those that lost their financial credit. Did you know that there are about 13 banks and mortgage companies that charged hidden, ILLEGAL fees to military personnel and veterans trying to refinance their homes? Do you know the history of money? I have spend hundreds of hours researching about so many of these truths, before I realized it was time to stand up against the oppressors.

Have you done any research about The Federal Reserve and know exactly how it works? Some people think that the Federal Reserve is a United States Government institution. Actually, they are a collection of private banks that created a monopoly which prey upon the people of the United States and its government for the benefit of themselves and their foreign customers; foreign and domestic speculators and swindlers; and rich and predatory money lenders.

Tell me, which part do you not agree with…

This generation is all about getting trophy for participating. This generation is raised by parents who grew up on Oprah who live an breath her “you are perfect you are number one” drivel. Nanny state policies breed spoiled manchildren who survive by manipulating people’s emotions like overgrown babies throwing fake tantrums to extort goodies . This is their leader>>> http://www.thedailyrash.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/600b09201e1.jpg

I am sure that the Occupiers would march on Home Depot but their parking lots are so filled with illegal day laborers there is no room.

Bob Nardelli is the former ceo of Home Depot. He was there for about 5 years and ran the stock into the dirt and paid the workers crap wages and less than stellar health care benefits. Nardelli DEMANDED and GOT a $230,000,000 (million) severance!! Google it. It is accurate.

the OWS should pick about a dozen companies and run them out of business. Home Depot for sure as well as Chase bank. Others?

OWS is a real force and I salute them from the bluegrass states.

Really!?! Home Depot former CEO Robert Nardelli was chief for about 5 years and drove the stock into the dirt. He also paid the workers abnput $9 an hour and provided little health benefits. Nardelli demanded like a baby in an adult body a $230,000,000 (million) severance package and the board gave it to him.

Dont believe me? Google the news stories.

The Occupy Wall Streeters should NEVER shop at Home Depot again! THAT would have an impact.

THE BIGGEST HARDEST AND MEANEST KICK IN THE TEETH THE OWStreeters COULD DO IS TO STOP BUYING FROM COMPANIES LIKE HOME DEPOT, CHASE BANK, ETC ETC. THAT WOULD SEND A VERY CLEAR MESSAGE TO OTHER CEO’S.

THIS ALSO MEANS THAT THE OWSTREETERS NEED TO PICK SEVERAL BUSINESSES AND RUN THEM INTO THE GROUND…OUT OF BUSINESS AS A MESSAGE–WITH TEETH.

How many jobs has Home Depot created? How many families eat because of Home Depot?

That’s what these narrow-minded little liberal babies don’t understand. Capitalism creates wealth. Socialism destroys it. Home Depot was a completely original idea. Nothing like it exists before Home Depot. This guy created something out of nothing. He created wealth for America and hundreds of thousands of employees.

These infantile-minded liberals only focus on the fact that he got wealthy himself. Normal, intelligent adult Americans realize that in addition to getting rich himself, Home Depot created wealth for many others. In addition to the employees who wouldn‘t have ANY job if it weren’t for this guy, he’s also allowed individual families to add wealth to their homes by putting in hard work and doing work themselves.

This is what Obama and the rest of the children-in-adult-bodies don’t understand. We want MORE Home Depot’s, not less. How many Home Depot type ideas never made it off the ground because of the excessive taxation and over-regulation of Obama? That’s why the economy still stinks. The democrats killed the economy when they took the house and senate in 2006. They made it worse when they took the presidency in 2008. Socialism kills economies. Pick up a history book of any socialist country.

Conservatives would have no problem if someone who came up with a cure for cancer made $500,000 Billion for himself. Liberals would rather there be no cu

It doesn’t matter how much Home Depot paid a moron CEO, or their employees. They will only remain in business as long as customers choose their products, services, prices and guarantees over their competitors. It could be argued that Home Depot has crashed in stock value in tandem with the crash of the home construction market, but it does not matter how the CEO failed or what he got. If he is an idiot he will squander his own money and dump it into our economy eventually anyway, or he will leave it locked in investments or in his bank making it accessible through loans and capital improvements. The only ones who should be concerned about what happens to the money of the wealthy are the wealthy. If they are wise it will be used to accomplish great things, if they are idiots it will trickle back in, either way we benefit. Coveting is a sin for those of us who care, and a fools errand for those who believe otherwise. Stop envying what others have or can do, go to work and get for yourself.

Since the Home Depot sells things for do-it-yourselfers…people who like to work and have the satisfaction of a job well done…I doubt the OWS folks would be interested in anything Home depot sells EXCEPT for blue tarp. LOTS of blue tarp!
