Homophobic Rant? Former SNL Star Victoria Jackson Slams ‘Glee’

In a column for WorldNetDaily.com, conservative comedian Victoria Jackson had a provocative reaction to the latest episode of Glee, the hit TV show about high school outcasts who find social solace singing and dancing together.

The show is peppered with gay themes–in last week’s episode, for instance, two gay characters exchanged a long-awaited kiss.

Homophobic Rant? Former SNL Star Victoria Jackson Slams Glee

Jackson writes:

Did you see “Glee” this week? Sickening! And, besides shoving the gay thing down our throats, they made a mockery of Christians – again! I wonder what their agenda is? Hey, producers of “Glee” – what’s your agenda? One-way tolerance?

Liberal websites like the Huffington Post are calling Jackson’s remarks a “homophobic rant”–which is perhaps an overstatement. Her comments could be interpreted as criticism of Glee’s overt political themes, which are far left and politically correct.

The HuffPo is also denouncing what it calls her “anti-Muslim and Arab diatribe” from the same column. Her offending paragraph appears below:

This new al-Qaida magazine for women has beauty tips and suicide-bomber tips! Gimme a break! That is as ridiculous as two men kissing on the mouth! And I don’t care what is politically correct. Everyone knows that two men on a wedding cake is a comedy skit, not an “alternate lifestyle”! There I said it! Ridiculous!

Jackson is an active member of the tea party.

You know what would be a good idea? If you’re going to be calling yourself a Christian, at least learn how to read your bible rightly. It’s called hermaneutics. Time for so-called Christians to start actually learning what it means to be a Christian: a Christ-follower. That’s what a Christian is. So if you are going to get offended by the hard truths of the bible, maybe you’d better get into it a little more and try to understand it. You aren’t being a very good friend by not telling your gay friends the truth. You are only withholding valuable, life saving information from them. Love them by hating their sin. If they turn away from you for telling them the truth, then maybe they’re not such good friends.

I’m with both of you on this one. It is both homophobic and a 1st amendment right. It’s also a 1st amendment right to point out the homophobia. It is, however, important to take note of the staggering double standard of ‘the left,’ on these type issues.
It comes down to this. Many on the left hold someone like Larry Flint up as a hero of the first amendment. He is not. He is simply, someone I must endure IF I wish to keep my own freedom of speech intact.

No thanks, I would rather read Gods word. In no way would I ever be mean or discriminate against a gay person. Or even shove my lifestyle down their throats. So if it’s ok I will keep my preference for a woman in the privacy of my bedroom where it belongs. If every one including gays do that than we will not have to discuss this

This is an interesting essay, but not good hermeneutics. The primary point is one of cultural evolution and moral relativism, in the sense that morals are based on cultural norms not transcendent truth. Simply put, this author is saying that we do not study the bible to determine truth but to understand our reality. Truth is not absolute or is unknown so we need to be soft on any absolute language. That still does not answer my question, do you believe that NT theology teaches that homosexuality is acceptable, or as the author weakly tries to purport that it (The New Testament) is mostly silent on the issue?

However, I do believe that you think you‘re a mind reader and I can guarantee that you’re not very effective at it. MARK 12:18-27
If a man dies childless, his widow is ordered by biblical law to have intercourse with each of his brothers in turn until she bears her deceased husband a male heir. So reads the homosexuality-bible-gay-christian.

The REAL TRUE Gospel of MARK 12:18-27 reads thus:
      Mark 12:18-27 KJV
18Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,
19Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man’s brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
20Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.
21And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise.
22And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.
23In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.
24And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
25For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.
26And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
27He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.

That gay bible is a perversion of the Bible is printed by perverts for perverts.

Hebrews 9:27And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Genesis2:24Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Leviticus 22:31Therefore shall ye keep my commandments, and do them: I am the LORD.

      2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 KJV
10And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Yes, the left is beyond hypocritical. I was a blogger on HuffingtonPost, making sure beforehand what their “rules” were and they specifically stated they welcomed ALL ideas and did not discriminate because of ideology, political party, etc. I watched & “learned”…..even though it wasn’t much of a surprise but confirmation. My friends & family have most always been Conservatives so I didn’t know too much about the “other side”. Sure enough…..the gross, sometimes threatening, nasty comments from the left mostly stayed on while the Conservative/Repub/Tea Party people who didn’t use any foul language, etc. were “deleted” and “banned”. While some of the libs would state they were “open minded” – they clearly….weren’t. And even more frightening is that they seemed to be sincerely unaware of this. Indeed – they‘d comment on why couldn’t the “moderators” delete all these “trolls”. Why were we the “trolls”? We were stating what we believe to be facts in a respectful way…not just to irritate, but to hopefully enlighten someone. But they don’t want that. They just wanted to come there & hear those that agreed with them in order to “reaffirm” themselves & feel good about it and vent their hatred. Yes, it was always Christians (while giving the Muslims a pass) & Jews, “righties”. Their downright hatred was frightening. Yes, Jackson is right and more of us should be standing up and express our feelings (with respect) & not be intimidated. Good for her!

In his book, ‘Bias’, Bernie Goldberg explains that these leftist/progressives truly believe that EVERYONE thinks the way they do – only a small, extreme radical fringe group do not. The question I have, is why are they so virulent? If you know you are with the majority, you let the small ‘uninformed’ group have their say and move on. The left/socialists/progressives/communists want to silence anyone not agreeing with them. They don’t want to discuss or debate – they want to silence – yet they proclaim their open-minded inclusivity. The blind leading the blind and the deaf preaching to the deaf.

Pop culture will teach your children what to believe if parents don’t step up and do it themselves. It starts in the home. The only fair thing to ask, would be that networks and producers give the same degree of compassion and tolerance to all groups of people. The mischaracterization of Christians and Tea Party members is as cruel and thoughtless as the mischaracterization of homosexuals or the transgendered. The hypocrisy of producers simply nullifies any positive impact the message of gay rights could have accomplished. You may appease one group, but you just frustrate and anger the other. This seems contrary to the overall message or goal, which is compassion for all, even if you don’t agree with one another.

@ CHERYNN………….Let’s just go to the scripture you are alluding to and see if it stands up to your use of it. This is the full context of the verse.

1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

If you read the whole thing you will see that the teaching is obviously discussing hypocrisy not judging as you have stated it. Hence in the last sentence Jesus says when the log has been removed from your own eye you can then see clearly that you may remove the speck from your brother’s eye. The following verses occur just a few sentences later…………

15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn-bushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

How might I watch out for false prophets if I am not evaluating and Judging them? The verse you tried to use and how you tried to use it is probably the most abused and misused verse in the entire Bible in the US today.

If people would just live thier own lives and not worry about how others are living thier lives we might have a different country. Live and let live, respect others. What some one else does in the privacy of thier own bedroom is no business of anyone else. Everyone needs someone to love and be loved by. Gay people have as much right to exsist in America as anyone else. ITS CALLED FREEDOM. If you want to force your beliefs on someone else, your just as bad as the taliban.

@ CHERYNN…………They certainly do have a right to exist ( I don’t think I have read anyone who suggested otherwise although they might have since I have not read every post), but the responses to this story are not because they kept it in the bedroom as you suggest, but rather flaunted and exposed on a television show that young people watch and are influenced by. This is a sexuality that many find offensive and immoral. They are not content to keep it in their bedroom but want society to not just tolerate it but accept and condone it. This is why we are inundated with this in all areas of society, especially forms of entertainment, so as to influence the next generation to view this as normal acceptable and possibly even preferable. So your argument could actually be used against what they are doing and supportive of what people here have done. You could say why don’t they keep it in the privacy of their bedroom rather than flaunt it in pornographic ways on the public streets of either coast during their parades. Why is it overtly portrayed in entertainment with a frequency that far exceeds its prevalence in the greater society if not the fact that it is agenda driven to gain acceptance and influence with the masses, particularly the next generation. This is what people are standing against. You do not have a realistic view of the nature of things or the social/spiritual warfare that is ongoing. There is such a thing as a false peace and I believe this is what you are advocating based upon what you have posted.

I simply want to keep the discussion on point and accurate to facts (not that I am all knowing, please do not hear that form me). Certainly any topic that is personal or emotional to us has the ability to let our sensitivities cloud our thoughts and perspectives (me included). I have no doubt that you have served your country bravely and I am sorry that you have endured the hatred you have throughout your life and thank you for your service. I simply seek to speak more in an objective manner by espousing the truth as I hold to be the reality of the world both seen and unseen that we live in. I have not always been a Christian. At one time an atheist. However, after a fairly deep and intense investigation into the person of Christ and claims of His resurrection after being crucified I have come to the conclusion that He is real and is the son of God. In that way my story is not that different from Lew Wallace (author of Ben Hurr) who set out to disprove the account of Jesus only to become a devout believer after examining all the evidence. Or Lee Stroble a devout atheist who also set out to disprove Christ and then became a follower after reviewing the evidence. I have read and studied many things in my life and have found that the only person I have ever read that has spoken words of life is Jesus. That is why I am his disciple . I just completely disagree with their choice to engage in homosexual acts of fornication. and I cannot imagine what a trial it must be for anyone struggling with such a trial in this life. God loves the sinner but despises the sin and it becomes a sin when it is acted upon first mentally and even worse physically.

Really Audie? I have no problem with homosexuals either.
You’re correct. Many of them are GREAT human beings….,just like any group that makes up human society, some are good, some are not .So what?
I’m FOR civil unions. I DO think that if you’re dying your life partner should be at your bedside, yadda, yadda.
This is what I’m fed up with. Homosexuals make up 6% to 8% of the population. It depends on what statistics you’re buying.
If that is the case then WHY does every story about (BOO HOO) Gay Rights make it seem as though they are at least 50% of the population and they should have the right to marry? I am weary of talk like that.
Majority rules Audie. Gay rights, yeah. Gay marriage, no!
Progressive Dems could give a flying FEATHER about Gay Marriage! To them it’s just another voting bloc.
This nation has a myriad of important issues. Gay Marriage is way at the bottom.
If you’re Gay , a citizen of the U.S., and marrying your love forevermore is your largest issue…, please, emigrate to Canada.
If you’re Gay and just want to live in peace with your partner of choice…,stay here and help the rest of this country’s citizens take our country back.

First of all, there’s no the homosexual lifestyle, they have as many different lifestyles as straight people. And all this love the sinner and hate the sin horse manure makes me want to puke. If you love people you should want them to be happy. There’s no love in the hearts of people who tell others that they shouldn’t make love with the people that they love and who love them.

    Yessss… speak up, people!

And an FYI – April 15th is the ‘Day of Silence’. It’s a day where gays and lesbians are allowed to go through school and not speak, in order to bring attention to their lifestyle. They claim it’s to shed light on the harassment they encounter in school, but that’s just a cover. They want acceptance.

I went back and forth with the principal of my son‘s high school last year and it didn’t do any good. He said his hands were tied. But I, and other like-minded parents, kept their kids home from school that day in protest. I made sure to tell the attendance office the reason as well, so they didn’t have to guess. Consider doing the same with your kids.

Isn‘t ’phobic’ a fear and not disgust? I rather think of it as homonasty, homonauseating, homonoxious, homoodious, homodisgusting or such–but NOT homophobic!!! This letter to the editor may be apropos?

Has America become the land of the special interest and home of the double standard?
Let’s see; if we lie to the Congress, it’s a felony and if the congress lies to us its just politics; if we dislike a black person we’re racist and if a black dislikes whites, it’s their 1st Amendment right; the government spends millions to re-habilitate criminals and they do almost nothing for the victims; in public schools you can teach that homosexuality is OK, but you better not use the word God in the process; you can kill an unborn child, but its wrong to execute a mass murderer; we don’t burn books in America, we now rewrite them; we got rid of the communist and socialist threat by renaming them progressives; we are unable to close our border with Mexico, but have no problem protecting the 38th parallel in Korea; if you protest against President Obamas‘ policies you’re a terrorist, but if you burned an American flag or George Bush in effigy it was your 1st Amendment right.
You can have pornography on TV or the internet, but you better not put a nativity scene in a public park during Christmas; we have eliminated all criminals in America, they are now called sick people; we can use a human fetus for medical research, but it’s wrong to use an animal.
We take money from those who work hard for it and give it to those who don’t want to work; we all support the Constitution, but only when it supports our political ideology; we still have freedom of speech, but only if we are being politically correct; parenting has been replaced with Ritalin and video games; the land of opportunity is now the land of hand outs; the similarity between Hurricane Katrina and the gulf oil spill is that neither president did anything to help.
And how do we handle a major crisis today? The government appoints a committee to determine who’s at fault, then threatens them, passes a law, raises our taxes; tells us the problem is solved so they can get back to their reelection campaign.
Now more than ever we have to have confirmation from the United Nations. America – GET THE US OUT OF THE UNITED NATIONS NOW !!!
What has happened to the land of the free and home of the brave?

The reason conservatives and especially Christian conservatives cannot have an opinion or denounce anything is because it is seen as the greatest threat to a society that wants to throw off all restraints to behavior and live however they chose without their conscience being effected by anyone. Liberals worldview is typically of the morally relativistic bent and as such they reject anything that would seek to establish an authority or standard as absolute truth. The idea of God being the ultimate authority is repugnant to most in this category. The only thing more threatening is stating that they will give an account to God for their choices. This then forms the basis for the mechanism that allows many to call evil good and good evil. Since they see the idea of God and his standards as espoused by the Christian groups as oppressive and antiquated, they often support different groups or behaviors that would be denounced by Evangelicals as being harmful or sinfully destructive to paint Christians as haters that need to be marginalized or eradicated from any publicly meaningful discussion or discourse. To the “tolerant” crowd they just cannot tolerate a claim to absolute truth which is the unalterable and foundational beliefs of Christianity. This is why as a culture rebels against the standards of God its foundations and stability begin to crumble, as is the current case in America. No longer are people of faith regarded or respected in most circles. Relativism, Secularism and Humanism are in vogue in universities, entertainment, arts, and politics. Marriage is assaulted and called good, babies are assaulted and killed in their mother’s womb and it is called good. Anyone who would speak against these practices is denounced as evil and unloving, ie good is called evil and evil is called good because their entire value system has been ultimately turned on its head because of their rebellion against and hatred of God.

OTHERHAND, you’ve convinced me that you are one of the good guys. You’re not mean-spirited like many on this website. But I have to challenge your post. Not the content, but the first sentence of your post, “The reason conservatives and especially Christian conservatives cannot have an opinion or denounce anything is because it is seen as the greatest threat to a society that wants to throw off all restraints to behavior and live however they chose without their conscience being effected by anyone.”

Why do you say you “cannot have an opinion or denounce anything”? Seriously, who is preventing you from doing that? You can post here or anywhere. You can give your opinions to anyone who will listen. You start your own website and say whatever you want. You can stand on the street corner and say whatever you want. You can stand up in church and say whatever you want.

You can say anything you want and the police won’t arrest you. Your taxes won’t go up.

Why do you say you can’t have an opinion? Think about it. Why do you say you “cannot have an opinion”?

Frankly I think you say that because when you express an opinion, people disagree with you. Sorry otherhand, you have any opinion you want, and anyone you express it to has a right to disagree. That doesn‘t mean you can’t have an opinion, that just means other people don’t agree with you.

@ JZS….Hey my friend I have not seen you post for a little while. Let me address your comment and explain what I meant. I did not mean that I cannot espouse a view and you are absolutely right when you say others may disagree with me all day long, that is most definitely their right. Nor was I saying I had no forum to espouse my views. I was stating that many who hold to a morally relativistic worldview would like to marginalize or eradicate my views based upon the statements of bigotry or hatred tactics that have been utilized at times by some who would hold opposing views, if it were possible for them to do so. Because of the nature of their worldview compared to mine they do see my statements of absolute truth as dangerous or unfair or just plain hateful. I on the other hand must espouse my views as I do because to not act on my beliefs if they be true would be unloving and hateful of others who would deny what I believe is true. Therefore, you can see the proverbial line in the sand that neither side will or can back away from without totally denying their entire worldview and belief system. No doubt that there is unfortunate displays of verbal and violent hatred aimed at certain groups, but I would say this goes all ways and is not an exclusive suffering of any one group and I would denounce these towards anyone. Secondly, I used that opening as a continuation of someone else’s expressed thought in the form of a question. To connect the two ideas, the question with my answer to it, I used that phraseology. Not necessarily indicating or meaning what you extrapolated. Thank you for your kind words, and as always I appreciate your response.

The first year was disturbing for its light-heated use of pregnancy. The wife of the GLEE teacher PRETENDED to be pregnant to hold her marriage together. And the head cheerleader (& head of Abstinence, of course) PRETENDED that the nice guy impregnated her (instead of the mean jock) because the nice guy/boyfriend ********** in a hot tub they were sharing. Both of these facades lasted much of the first season.
Now the extreme flaunting homosexual boy has achieved revolting status. NO MALE acts that way without DELIBERATELY adopting such voice & mannerisms, etc. (I also did not like the younger brother on “Ugly Betty” who was all interested in fashion & such when was barely a teenager, if that, & I doubt in reality if his Hispanic Father would not have tried to guide him into acting his masculine role – that’s another show I stopped with a couple of seasons to go.)
All this stuff is LEARN YOUR LESSON TV. It started in the 60s with shows that had episodes that hit you over the head with YOUR LESSON FOR TODAY showing that YOUR judgment is stupid & you should be cool like us open-minded smart “winners.”
I do not intend to accept/approve of unnatural sexual attractions. We are humans so that we can control our impulses. I am sure that there are 16/17 year old girls that middle-aged men find sexually attractive (considering society‘s acceleration of girls’ sexuality), but such men should instantly realize that this is unreal, unhealthy & against the norms of society. No one thinks it’s OK & no one tries to ram such acceptance down your throat, And hey, that is at least correct opposite-sex attraction.
I take it back,. there is an organization that promotes middle-age men & teenagers. It’s NAMBLA. What a coincidence that sexual deviants want this OK’d too.

Conservative are free to have an opinion, that said, if you opinion is homophobic, the rest of use are free to call you out for it.

Victoria Jackson is a fool and a bigot both of which are evidenced by her statement. She is free to make that statement and the rest of us are free to her she an ignorant buffoon.

I gave up watching the network programs (except the news -which I find entertaining propaganda)
I can‘t think of a single prime time TV program that hasn’t promoted the myth of a Gay America.
Can’t remember that far back to enjoy Programs like Wagon Train or Bonanza or even the edgy
M A S H none of which actually promoted the gay agenda. Klinger -on M A S H was a spoof against those who used the Law as an attempt to get out of a War -I don’t recall any episode where Klinger was imaged as homosexual. Not at all ike the social propaganda today.

It’s not homophobic to think homosexuality is wrong it called a naturalism. Just as homosexuality is called a alternative life style. Well what the he77 is it an alternative to……it’s an alternative to what nature intended. Look if you hate people and attack people for being gay, you’re homophobic. If you disagree with the life style and find it wrong natural, or religiously you‘re not homophobic you’re a naturalist PERIOD.

According to scientists people have been around for 3 million years. During that time every possible social interaction has been tried over and over. Anyone who seriously looks into the history of homosexuality finds it never survives. Torn between shame and justification (look at Castro Street) it always becomes too self destructive to survive.

Prior to Freud, it was considered a religious or moral sin. The psychiatrists re-framed it as a mental problem. Homosexuals were rounded up and treated horribly – shock treatment, lobotomies, etc. –

They fought back by becoming psychologists and psychologists themselves, then started a propaganda program resulting in todays status. They have tried for decades to “prove” that it is genetic. I believe that it is learned behavior taught principally by sexual abuse of children.
As with any other group they run the gamut of three dimensional bell curve behavior, good, bad, . . .
There is no “Gay Community.“ I still resent their stealing the once beautiful word ”gay.” They are NOT a happy lot.

This was the same episode where Kathy Griffin played a VERY conservative Christian. You can’t get any more disrespectful than that. It was an over the top portrayal that I’m sure was meant to mock the “right”.

I believe in loving people regardless of sexual orientation. But loving people is not the same as accepting everyone’s choices as being okay. I don’t believe that homosexual lifestyles are okay with God. I won‘t pretend like it’s morally a fine decision. My heart goes out to those who struggle with same sex attraction. But I can’t support acting on impulses. And the fact that the movie industry keeps shoving crap down our throat about how we are haters if we don’t agree with a lifestyle decision makes me sick. If I need to be open-minded about homosexuality, then others should be open-minded about my Christian principles.

Marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God. Family is central to our Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity. Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities. By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners. Disability, death, or other circumstances may necessitate individual adaptation. Extended families should lend support when needed.

I do not apologize for my beliefs as stated above.

We’re living in an age that calls darkness light. Thanks Victoria (Ms. Jackson if you’re nasty!) for not suppressing the truth of your convictions even though it may bring hardship.

BTW-Enjoyed and agreed with both “the other hand” and “JZS” posts here, although I rarely agree with JZS. It must be noted however that some speech is becoming more free than other speech. Eric Holder’s refusal to prosecute the clear cut cases of voter intimidation is a prime recent example. Less recent examples are the the hate crimes legislation that punishes the same criminal acts disproportionally based on motivations. I contend that is essentially an attack on free speech/thought.

I think it is sick that some people have such animosity towards homosexuality. How is another persons sexual preference any of your business??? For those of you who choose to quote the bible, I thought that one of God’s major rules was to NOT judge other human beings? Aren’t all sins equal? You are already throwing stones from glass houses. We ALL have government given rights to live (and worship) the way that we want to. So mind your own business. If you were in a deadly car crash and a man wearing a rainbow shirt came to pull you out of your burning car, I‘m fairly certain that you wouldn’t be so judgmental as to turn him away because of his sexual orientation. The thought probably wouldn’t even come close to crossing your mind. That would be stupid. My point being that in the end we are ALL human beings and not one of us should point the finger, because we are ALL imperfect, and DON’T YOU EVER FORGET IT!
