‘Homosexuality Is a Sin’: Rick Perry Tells Bisexual Teen Why He Opposes Gays in the Military

Texas Gov. Rick Perry got put in the hot seat by a 14-year-old, allegedly bi-sexual young woman at a stop in Decorah, Iowa, last night. The girl challenged Perry on his stance on gays in the the military.
She interjected into an otherwise jovial exchange after the campaign event, and with cameras rolling, asked Perry:
”Im just wondering why you are so opposed to gays openly serving in the military and wondering why you want to deny them that freedom when they’re fighting and dying for your rights.”
Perry handled the loaded question with poise, though his answer did meander a bit. Below is the gist of of what he said:
“This is about my faith…there are a whole host of sins, homosexuality being one of them, I‘m a sinner and so I’m not gonna be the first one to throw a stone, it’s just like the Boy Scouts…that again is one of those issues that I don’t agree with… i don’t agree that openly gays should serve in the military…Don‘t ask don’t tell was working… I hate the sin but i love the sinner”

I do not need, nor do I want, to know what your sexual preference or practice is, it’s just one of those images I prefer not to have floating around in my mind. If it was so “normal”, the human race would be extinct, so no, it isn’t about the sexual deviant practices of a few, it is the fact you have to hoist your beliefs as being “normal” or “acceptable” in society. You want to be treated equal? Keep your bedroom practices to yourself. Don’t ask, don’t tell worked just fine. There are two gay types that are in the military. Those that remain quiet and keep to themselves their sexual practices, and those that were more into flaunting they weren’t quite as tough as they wanted to show. The former weren’t a threat or problem in close quarters, the latter tended to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end.

I am in the upper 3% of the most educated people in the world and a very religious Christian. First, the King James Bible was translated in the 1700s by 47 translators just to give you an idea and has been translated over and over again, second Jesus never mentions homosexuality, third as a psychologist I know that sexual orientation is determined at the ages 5-6 and God would not make a baby a sinner, forth the word homosexual was not even a word until 1869, 5th, 6th, 7, 8th, etc the Bible never mentions homosexual love, also in the Bible it was okay to have slaves, women couldn’t be in the church, it is a sin to wear two different forms of clothing, for ex. Wearing cotton and linen would be a sin, eating pork and shellfish was a sin and the list goes on and on. The Bible has changed as the culture of the day has changed each time it is translated but please read below because no one ever mentions this when they say “oh homosexual is a sin in the Bible.”

Posted on December 19, 2011 at 11:25amhomosexuality is wrong because it’s abnormal. Sex is for procreation and homosexuals cannot procreate. It is a perversion and happens to not only be a sin but one of the few specifically called out by God’s word as an abomination. We know instinctively from childhood that it’s abnormal. I can remember at about 7 years old recognizing homosexuality as being wrong…..without being told by an adult or reading it in the Bible either. Just knew it was off somehow. The correct answer would have been “because it’s abnormal, disgusting and an abomination to the God I serve. I don’t like it, don‘t have to like it and if you don’t like that…..too freaking bad.”

Posted on December 19, 2011 at 1:07pmGreat post Sapper. GhostofJefferson, you, as most progressives, miss the entire point. The WORD OF GOD, the HOLY SCRIPTURES, state that homosexuality is wrong. As Christians, we are to follow God’s direction, God’s Holy Word, God’s commandments. Everyone sins and falls short of God. However, that does not mean we stop listening to God or stop following His direction for our lives according to HIS WORD. Leviticus18:22 “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.” Leviticus 20:13 “If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.” Romans 1:26-27: “For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. (27) Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.” And what is the judgement of God for them??? Romans1:32 states: “who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same BUT ALSO APPROVE OF THOSE WHO PRACTICE THEM.”

Posted on December 19, 2011 at 3:04pmso many things wrong with all of your arguments. You all suffer from major conformational bias (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias)
The Bible says that a man laying with another man is an abomination, in the same book it says that eating shellfish and pork is an abomination and many other things that are considered normal today make the bibles abomination list.
Stop picking and choosing scripture to fit your point, it makes me cringe when i see people who think they are justified in denying some one else’s freedoms because it makes them feel icky or because a book says so. An ancient book that was edited, rewritten, edited again, then given to a king to edit how he likes, then rewritten.
Try to critically think through the major issues yourself using logic and reason, it will make you a stronger person as you will be able to fully explain all your beliefs and not just fall back to “someone told me so” and look to the bible. If you can do this, you will be better off than the majority of people in America today who just go where ever the wind blows

Posted on December 19, 2011 at 4:42pmI’ll answer your question. I believe there has to be the chance of procreation. God made Adam and Eve, to procreate. Is it ONLY for procreation? No. But it’s part of it. We interfer with that process with various forms of “birth control.” With a homosexual relationship, there is NO possibility of procreation, even if it is pleasurable to the parties involved. And the main point of the post WAS that God calls it out as a sin. (A man shall not lie with a man as he does a woman – and I believe that to mean mankind, not just the male of the sex.) He doesn’t specifically state in the Bible (other than allowing the Song of Solomon) that sex is also for pleasure between a husband and wife. Although there is a part where it says a married couple should not withhold themselves from each other for an extended period of time (don’t ask where, I know it’s there). Will a child be produced with every coupling? No. Even without birth control. Still, no possibility at all with a same sex union.
Does that answer your question?

Report Post »There was a list of things not to be eaten in the OLD Testiment. This was due to God handing down laws, and probably (my guess) due to cleanliness issues of the time. God later told one of the disciples (Paul, I think?) that anything He made was permissible to eat. He had a vision where a cloth was let down with all manner of animals, some forbidden by Jewish law, to be eaten and told him to eat. He said he would never defile himself, but God told him it was good to eat. I don’t recall anywhere in the Bible where God rescended the man lying with a man as a woman. When you find it, I’d love you to quote it to me, and that would be from the Bible, not the Quaran.

Posted on December 19, 2011 at 6:50pmThere is nothing evil about God’s creation. I believe that is the take-away message from Paul’s vision. As a scientist, I trust the evidence that homosexuality is part of God’s creation. Therefore I do not classify homosexual activity as a “sin” or an “abomination”. Homosexuality exists in nature (in both humans and animals, and no it does no cause extinction), and I do not see any evidence that homosexuality is inherently harmful (it can be harmful in the same ways herterosexual sex can be harmful). I have yet to hear a rigorous ethical argument against homosexuality (with the conclusion that it is objectively wrong). Most arguments go something like this: “God says it’s wrong”. In my experience, if a message from the Bible or other religious text cannot be backed up by reason, that message is probably a mis-interpretation to begin with.

This is an idiotic statement without a shred of evidence to back it up. One could say that homosexual ACTS exist in nature, but homosexuality, if it is the modern notion of a consistent sexual orientation, has never been shown to exist in animals.
But regardless, dogs humping trees also exist in nature. They also eat their vomit. When was animal behavior a fitting example of human morality?

There are plenty of studies that show homosexuality in all of nature. All the studies couldn’t prove this to @Islesfordian. So their condition of homosexuality and abnormal sex…stems from their turning their faces from him.

With Obama elected & the repeal of DADT, the LGBT feel very confident. Now JZD should feel safe & secure in public. That is the only way society should be. But LGBT also think that their way is correct and that anyone who thinks differently is a cavemen. There is literally no reasoning with them.

Pedophilia and Homosexuality are two VERY different things…. Don’t confuse them… Pedophilia is the ABSOLUTE worse crime one human can commit on another!
Whereas Homosexuality can be argued from either a ‘Nature Vs Nurture’ or a ‘perversion’ point of view. We don’t know yet….

I might add as well that there is significant literature and psychological testing results that indicate that homosexual males, at least, are more prone to pedophilia than hetero males. I was arguing with a gay guy on FOX news website. He said that gays made up only 20% of all pedophiles. It thought that was extremely funny. For 2 to 5 % of the population to makeup 20% of the problem means they are over represented. I would say that proves homosexuality is a problem.

Jude 1:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
Ezekiel 16:49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. 50 And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.
They gave themselves over to such sin and they committed them before the Lord that is why they were punished.

Posted on December 21, 2011 at 2:09amI’ve seen statistics cited that suggest quite the opposite. That it is actually heterosexual males that disproportionately make up the majority of recorded pedophiles. But most I’ve seen suggest that the instances of pedophilia are properly to scale in respect to heterosexual and homosexual men.
In my own experience with well adjusted and quite normal homosexual friends and family members, they are quite repulsed by and moral opposed to pedophilia.

If you are a christian and beleive in god that is great for you but being american doesnt equate to christian. Keep your beliefs to yourself if running for public office. Your beliefs are yours but dont judge others that dont agree. As long as you shoot straight is all that matters to me. I have served and can tell you in war y ou dont care what the sexual preference of someone happens to be and i know for fact i served with many homosexuals and they were great soldiers.
DADT is a cop out for people to get out of basic that couldnt handle it, most peope that used it were straight. This country is made up of more than Chritians and what is a sin to them means nothing to most. Eating shellfish is a sin but does that mean anone that has eaten a crab sholdnt serve? Excuse me? Do you have any idea what you’re advocating here?
1. Censorship (who can make somebody keep their beliefs to themselves), or self censorship (which is what happens under PC)
2. A candidate being able to surprise us all when he/she gets elected, after having been silenced regarding his/her convictions, and then acting on those convictions once in office.
That‘s the absolute worst prescription I’ve heard for a constitutional Republic. I personally want to know *every single skeleton* a candidate may have hiding in his closet, before I pull the lever for him or her. Why WOULDN’T you want to know things like this before you vote for somebody?
And, what would you have a candidate do when asked a question? It’s not like Perry is out screaming at gays randomly and for no apparent reason. He was asked a question. And you want him to keep his beliefs secret. Stunning.

I am about as tired as one can be with all this baloney about “gay” being a born condition. Humanity as a whole is born into a condition of sin…we all are supposed to mortify the deeds of the flesh, we are supposed to put down our lower nature, not cultivate and celebrate it. It isn’t my responsibility to judge outsiders, but it certainly is your job to judge those inside the church who are sinning in these ways. [13] God will judge those on the outside; but as the Scriptures say, “You must remove the evil person from among you.”
See if these people want to be gay or whatever, outside the Church then they will do it. However, government is to stay out and stop giving them special rights and pushing it on our kids. I will make myself clear, if you want to live that lifestyle then who am I to say anything. I will love and help you in any way I can. Posted on December 19, 2011 at 11:37amAs Christians, we do love the sinner while hating the sin. Homosexual activity is sinful. Those who claim to be homosexual need help of the spiritual, medical, psychological, and/or psychiatric variety. In spite of claims by homosexual activists, there is no scientific or medical evidence that there is any kind of “homosexual gene”. Homosexual behavior is unnatural, regardless of who engages in it. The problem of people who claim to be homosexual serving openly in the U. S. Armed Forces is a matter of the behavior involved, including improper fraternization, which is definitely not conducive to the good order and discipline that are essential to the professionalism and effectiveness of our defense establishment and, therefore, the safety and security of our citizens. This question is not a matter of recent origin. Thousands of years of world history, including more recent public behavior of radical homosexual activists, are available as evidence that homosexuality is detrimental to society in general and that policies which encourage homosexual activity in the Armed Forces and that lead to the destruction of traditional marriage can only be wrong for our country. homosexuality, like every other lie from the left, is from satan himself. GOD forbids it and states in HIS word that if people reject HIS teaching on this, HE will turn them over to their own lust. The left, the liberals have used this dis-ease, this sickness of soul, to gather people together who have never heard the TRUTH or having heard THE TRUTH find it too difficult to follow and hence turn to “the easy way out”, which of course never is. There is no rational argument, it is just “God says it’s wrong, therefore I’m against it.”
By supporting a ban on homosexuality or homosexual marriage, you are FORCING people to conform to your beliefs even though they may not have the same beliefs as you. That inches us closer and closer to a theocracy and I love America too much to see that happen and I’m sure Jefferson would feel the same.
