As the death toll from Friday’s tornado wave across the Midwest continues to rise, the story of one particularly chilling and tragic death has emerged: That of a 4-year-old boy who was literally ripped out of his mother’s arms.
It happened Friday in Jefferson County in southern Indiana, local NBC affiliate WAVE-TV reported. Family friend Tony Williams said 4-year-old Daylin Terry Jackson was in a basement with his mother, Amanda Jackson, when the storm hit around 3 p.m. local time.
The boy’s mother and sister both survived. His great-grandparents, who were upstairs, did not.
“She was in the cellar with the boy when the tornado hit. It blew him right out of her hands,” Williams said, according to Reuters. “They found the bodies in the field outside.”
“We lost a very good farmer, a good neighbor and his wife their great grandbaby,” Williams told ABC.
Amanda Jackson had surgery Friday night and is in the hospital.

Posted on March 4, 2012 at 2:46amMy heart aches for that poor woman. I don’t know if I would ever recover from having my child ripped from my arms and killed by a tornado. I would never stop blaming myself, and I know this poor woman will have to live the rest of her life with that kind of guilt. My condoleances to her and her family, I pray that someday the pain will lessen for her.

Posted on March 3, 2012 at 10:12pmI know we are not suppose to question God’s wisdom but it sure makes one wonder why something as tragic as this family has to go through happens and how people like Sandra Fluke is still in existence.
Report Post »I know he says He won‘t bring you to it if he can’t bring you through it but I wouldn’t want to go through what these people have had to endure.

Report Post »I understand the confusion as to why bad things are happening to these communities, especially to innocents such as this young boy. As tragic and heartbreaking as it is for this family and the communities which have suffered terribly, Sandra Fluke needs your prayers for the conversion of her soul, not your condemnation. God desires all His children to be with Him, even those whom one would deem unworthy.

Posted on March 4, 2012 at 10:42amEveryone please pray for these families, I grew up in this area and these are very good people. These families went through a similar storm season in 1973. Several of the school bus drivers unloaded their student in business and private residences to protect them.

Posted on March 3, 2012 at 6:27pmMy prayers and thoughts go out to the family members who survived : may god grant them the wisdom and comfort so that they may deal with the sorrow having so tragically lost their son and parents. I know those lost will be waiting to greet you at the ens of your mortal probation we call life.
And to the Blaze: as a father of a four yr old this story is disturbing ! truly negative and does nothing to enlighten me anymore about the death and destruction caused by the storms. I do wish I never seen the headline.

Posted on March 3, 2012 at 7:36pmI agree with both of you that it very upsetting whenever a child is hurt or killed. I see the headline and tend to not read it. Abortion ,a car accident, a drowning, a child’s death from shaken-baby syndrome. Its all very sad.
I look at my 3 y/o gr-son and can‘t imagine how devastated we’d be if anything happened to him. He’s so cute and smart.

Posted on March 4, 2012 at 1:50amI can understand how you feel, but do we really want the media deciding that we are not smart or mature enough to know the truth? Isn’t that what they are doing when they refuse to show the twin towers and 9/11 stuff because American’s “just can’t handle it” They want us to forget it so that history can be rewritten about it. This is a tragic story but I personally feel that we should be the ones to decide if we want to read it or not. To some this may be a wake up call to remind them of how much time they are wasting in not being with and appreciating their own family or friends in their lives. God can bring blessings out of tragedys, you just never know.

Posted on March 3, 2012 at 6:20pmDear God! how hard are our hearts. All the judging. Who do you think you are? These are winds that leave flowers standing in a vase on the floor. Winds that drive a straw though a fencepost and that leave figurines still sitting on a shelf in a building with only one wall and no roof. Leave the woman alone in her grief. Someday you too, may find yourself with no answers, only questions.

Report Post »How so? I guess I could look at it through your insane eyes, and not rationalize it. But then I wouldn’t wonder why the wind was strong enough to break her grip on her piece of “light”, and yet not strong enough to lift her up and out, or even strong enough to break her own grip protecting her own life. Like I said: who’s the daddy?
AxelPhantom
Posted on March 3, 2012 at 6:27pmJust Tim,
So let’s see one woman, two children. Choice: Loosing grip on one, do I let go of the other one go as well to get a better grip on the first one and possibly lose both?
The mother was heavier than the child and would not be as easily lifted up, but the other child probably would have had she let go.
Just because you would be more concerned about your things, it is incorrect to assume that anyone else would share your vapid concerns.
