House Dem: Obama Will Get Votes Because He’ll Protect Unemployment Benefits & Food Stamps

Unemployment benefits and food stamps are guaranteed to bring in votes for President Barack Obama, or so says one House Democrat.
While appearing on MSNBC’s “Politics Nation,” Rep. Chaka Fattah (D-PA) said the current state of the economy will encourage people to vote for President Obama because, unlike his Republican opponents, he will protect government assistance programs.
“Unemployment continues to drop and those people who are unemployed, they’re not going to be voting for the party who wants to cut their benefits — cut access to food stamps, cut job training,” Rep. Fattah, Senior Member of the House Appropriations Committee, told MSNBC’s Al Sharpton Tuesday.
Perhaps realizing what he had just said, the Congressman tried to clarify his comments.
“I think on this election day, those who have a job can credit the administration for stabilizing our economy and those who don’t know that this administration is trying to put them to work,” he said.

But maybe it shouldn‘t be surprising that a politician would openly admit that some voters are supporting President Obama because he’s the most likely to protect their government-aid gravy train.
That brings us to a final thought: given the fact that Rep. Fattah has more or less said it, do certain Republicans still need to apologize for referring to Barack Obama as “The Food Stamp President“?

Posted on April 25, 2012 at 2:20pmI too agree that there should be a time limit on receiving assistance. Another major problem is that anyone on public assistance should not be allowed to vote. Unless one is contributing they should not be allowed to vote on received someone else’s money. I know this sounds like I am heartless but if we were to run our nation in the manner we would all be much better off.
Now regarding receiving assistance, I agree there should be a 1-2 yr max. If after that time one cannot find employment then they would have to join a public works program doing whatever needed to be done in the area to continue to receive their benefits. The good thing about a program like this would be we would have a better place to live having all the grass cut, trash picked up, public building keep clean and painted. And also I bet far less persons on public assistance if they actually had to work for the benefits they receive.
Now for the truly sick and elderly who cannot help themselves I believe they should be cared for. So I thin I will run for the Pres job, do I have a shot……………..

Anyone collecting entitlements or who is employed by the government relinquishes their voting rights as part of accepting said job. That will put an end to alot of agencies and federal intereference in states .

Since his healthcare plan has started Mdeicaiad has said that I needed to share the wealth or they will go broke. Theree simply isn’t enough money to add all the freeloaders onto the system and provide good healthcare for all of us, so they keep peeling back healthcare for everybody jwho needs it, I have severe dry eye, degenerative retinas and my vision fluctuates wildly. I can now only see my doctor 1 x every yr and a half. That means that the medicine that I need for dry eye comes very unstabily. By the time I see my doctor my vision has changed so radically that the new prescriptions give me headaches.
I just found out today that my food stamps are going down by $25.00 a month. I have had no change in income other than the raise in S.S. I. for the inflation. Why did I get such a cut in food stamps? Groceries have easily gone up by 25.00 since my last eval. so there goes the raise for inflation and that seems like I should get an increase not a decrease. I just can’t believe that I only make 697.00 a month and I am expected to share the wealth with people who get mad at me for not wanting to support them conning the system.
I live in an apartment complex where everyone is either disabled or elderly and we are allseeing things that we need taken away. Obama’s not protect

And before anyone says well some people can not get off of welfare that is a lie. I realize bad things happen and there are times you may need assistance, however, there are countless people who stay on welfare because it is a free check. When you dream is to just get a Section 8 apartment next to your mother and receive your government check then you should not have the ability to vote….and before anyone says that is racist….I am speaking about both white and black because there are several white people who believe this.
