WASHINGTON (AP) — The House’s No. 2 Democratic leader says comedian Stephen Colbert’s (kohl-BEHR’s) testimony last week on immigration was “inappropriate” and “an embarrassment.”
Colbert was invited to appear before the House Judiciary Committee by Democratic Rep. Zoe Lofgren of California. But other Democrats weren’t happy about her decision.
The committee chairman, Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., asked Colbert to leave the room at the beginning of the hearing because Colbert has no expertise in farm labor issues or immigration policy.
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer of Maryland tells “Fox News Sunday” he thought the episode was more of an embarrassment to Colbert than to the House. But, he added, “I think it was inappropriate” that he testified.

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 4:04pmClassic.. It‘s Colbert’s fault… Colbert’s invulnerability to embarrassment is a professional skill.
The Party of Death,on the other hand, avoids embarrassment simply by having no shame..
Meanwhile…Hoyer knows full well “an embarrassment.” He sees one every morning in the mirror.
37 days ……..it’s going to..be…historic.

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 3:39pmPersonally, I think that country got sold out by the government , who had already decided to what they could to wring every dollar out of us for as long as possible, and then when the returns became diminished, they started to cut us apart and sell us off as scrap to third world countries. They have gotten away with with this by allowing the country to be flooded with illegals who will not complain once they get here to the promised land and by treating us in such ways that we distrust ourselves and our national identity. We have become the butt of the worlds jokes and all 9/11 did (regardless of who is behind it) was give the government broad and powerful tools with which to subdue us, surveillance, homeland security, patriotism that they question at every turn ( which worked well for Adolph when he adopted such measures ), and worse of all, they have taught us to accept their control instead of obeying us, which is the absolute duty of any servant. I expect that this post wont go over well for me, but I got to call it like I see it.

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 3:22pmThis committee had the eyes of the nation focused on it. If they really wanted us to take them seriously, the first off-color remark by Colbert should have led to the distinguished Chairwoman from California asking him to leave. A few committee member hemmed and hawed for the cameras, but I didn’t see any of them stand up and walk out – they just kept asking Colbert questions. WTF.

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 3:20pmCobert is a very funny comedian. I will watch him and laugh at his jokes on his TV show, but what a farce for the libs (dems) to invite him to testify. Of course the libs are a farce anyway.

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 2:41pmWait, so according to Hoyer it was Colbert that should be embarassed??? He is a comedian that is what he does. I swear the shear stupidity of the people running our country scares the hell out of me. These people are completely and uterly clueless. It is the House and the House alone that should be embarrassed on this issue. Period. What a joke.

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 2:02pmIf that was funny in any way I failed to laugh… The Hispanic people are the ones that should be embarrassed and insulted… The Democrat Party was poking fun at them and they aren’t even smart enough to understand what was done to them… Does anybody truly think Colbert is a Republican? Yet he made fun of the Hispanic workers… I don’t get their love with the Democrats they are just using them…

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 1:59pmInteresting how the left always calls conservatives divisive for “holding tax cuts hostage”. But which party is the party of equality?
It was the Republicans who passed the ADA for equality for disabled Americans
Licoln was a Republican who fought a war to set the slaves free
Martin Luther King was a Republican
Republicans want all taxpayers treated equally
It is the Democrats who fight for inequality.
They demand unequal taxation.
Democrats want us all to stand up and identify ourselves by our race so they can decide who gets or does not get special tratment.
Democrats want to give benefits to illegals at the expense of American Citizens.
Holding out for equal tax cuts, or tax hikes for everyone, is the right thing to do.

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 1:15pmOnce again Hoyer has it backwards. This was way more of an embarrassment to Congress than to Colbert. The arrogance of this Congress is astounding. These entitlement idiots really do believe “We the people” are that stupid. Wait till you see the embarrassment to your socialist party this November, Hoyer, future minority leader. (if you can really call anything he does as leadership)
