House Narrowly Passes Boehner Debt Bill, No Democrats Voted for PassageThe House of Representatives passed Speaker John Boehner‘s new debt bill aimed at cutting government spending in order to raise the nation’s the borrowing limit.  Senate Democrats have reportedly promised to defeat the bill.

The Senate may vote on the bill as early as Friday night.

WASHINGTON (The Blaze/AP) — Republicans have muscled legislation to extend the government’s borrowing authority and cutting spending through the House over solid Democratic opposition.

The 218-210 vote sets up a confrontation with the Democratic-controlled Senate and President Barack Obama, who say the GOP-written measure will die in the Senate. They say the bill would wreak economic havoc because it would force lawmakers to vote on another extension of the debt ceiling early next year, in the heat of presidential and congressional campaigns.

Administration officials say Congress must find a compromise to raise the debt ceiling by Tuesday or the government will run out of cash to pay its bills. That could prompt an unprecedented federal default, which could rattle the economy with shocks such as higher interest rates.

Meanwhile, Fox News White House correspondent Mike Emanuel thinks the fact that Republicans have passed another House bill might give the GOP leverage in terms of debt negotiations. At first, when the Boehner plan seemed like it may fail, Emanuel said the feeling was that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid might have the upper hand. Now the tables have turned.       Even as the US economy teeters on the brink of default, the federal government has handed a $72 million dollar contract to defense contractor Lockheed Martin to install radiation-firing body scanners at 300 more airports across the east and central United States, despite the availability of devices that do not rely on radiation to function.

      “Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has been awarded two regional task orders totalling $72 million to help TSA integrate and deploy new passenger screening and security equipment at airports across the east and central United States,” states the press release.

      The defense contractor is virtually tied at the hip with the U.S. government, receiving tens of billions of dollars in contracts every year, and has a substantial lobbying budget which is used to support Congress members and Senators who “advocate national defense and relevant business issues.”

      Obama said any debt deal must be bipartisan,,,but his right hand man, Reid, says the only debt deal is his own. Am I missing something? that’s not bipartisan,,,that‘s ’my way or the highway’and at the EXPENSE of the American public.

      I see the Repubs scrambling, working hard and the Dems standing back saying anything you work on will be shot down. WTF? I thought this was a team.

      We all need to reject this idea that Congress is supposed to reach a bi-partisan compromise on anything.

      Our Founders were CLEAR: Representatives are supposed to clog the administration on behalf of their constituents. ONLY bills which contain policies which a majority (or super majority) agree 100% on should be considered – this would not be bi-partisan or a compromise.

      Not knowing exactly whats in the bill that did pass, I am cautiously optimistic about it. So at this point I would tell everyone in the Senate to work their buttss off to get this passed. Then when the democrats refuse to pass it, then I say let the country default and show the nation what stu_pid dirtbags we are dealing with. And in case you are wondering, the dirtbags are the presdient and his handmaidens in the Senate!

      The house passed the Ryan Budget, ignored by the Senate and the Pres. The House passed Cut, Cap, & Balance, Ignored by the Senate and the Pres. The house passed the bill today, to be tabled by the Senate and the Pres. So you know what!!! Three strikes and you’re out!!! I do not think the congress should give them anything else. Just tell the Senate and the Pres. you have 3 choices that we have submitted. You have none!!! Pick one or shut up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop compromizing. Enough is enough!!!!!       It’s like this, 2/3 of the government is still controlled by the socialists. Until the remaining stench is removed, everything will have some stink on it. We have passed yet another bill that the senate will most likely reject as well. The point is, we passed a bill that raises the debt ceiling to avoid the so called disaster (politically touted by the dems) AND it lowers the deficit..

      SORRY – IF THE COUNTRY DEFAULTS AND/OR THE ECONOMY GETS WORSE, IT IS 100% ON THE DEMOCRATS. PERIOD.

      When we gain FULL control in 2012, then we can make a change that is GOOD for the U.S., not one that destroys it in favor of some Marxist fools gold!

Obama says bipartisan but with the Dems already voting to squash it before even reading it, where is the bipartisan in that?       Congratulations Tea Party. You’ve shut the government down. You’ve successfully prevented Boehner from presenting any bill that might actually have a chance of passing in the Senate. The Tea Party evidently believes that compromise is not an option, but they do believe by forcing the US to default will, what?, prove a point, make things better, get them reelected? Unfortunately Democracy in America has failed, as the Chinese noted. The victims? You and me and every American citizen.

      The Tea Party view seems to be that we aren’t going to close tax loop hole for the wealthiest (let’s face it, that is their constituency, their donors), continue to subsidize the wealthiest companies in the world, and make sure CEOs get a tax break on that private jet. The Tea Party won’t touch the rich, but instead want to eliminate any program that supports “the poorest among us” or the middle class.

      Raising the debt ceiling only pays for debts the United States has made over the last ten years. Bush raised the debt ceiling 7 times, Reagan, 17. Yep, let’s just welsh debts made for the last ten years. You think you can blame it Obama, but I don‘t think that’s the way it’ll play out.

      The D‘s wanted to BLAME the R’s for not raising the debt ceiling, thus it is the R’s fault for the economy, unemployment, etc. etc., and spend their billion dollars on campaign speeches saying just that. (Many uninformed would buy the BS, and vote the socialists back in). NOW THEY CAN’T!!!

      That being said, ALL the candidates we put in in 2012 must have a love for this country, freedom, the constitution, and titanium spines to turn this country around (no more debt ceilings raised and a constitutional amendment for a balanced budget – that will pass!) and ride the socialists out on a rail beyond the boundaries of the U.S.- for they are all traitors.

We lived most of our lives in Illinois, but their taxes went up every year so who gave up and moved to Indiana to get away from being overtaxed and under serviced! All the Chicago dems are corrupt and do only what they are told by the Dems–lie, cheat, what ever it takes to get elected! Terrible place to live but you don’t realize it until you leave the state!
