Jedediah, I agree with your analysis that although the current Assad regime isn’t, by any means a peaceful regime, we might be better off keeping out of this fight and not getting involved, because of WHO is behind the uprising (Muslim Brother hood, Hamas, Hezbollah, all KNOWN terror organizations!).
Buck, great presentation, but if I, as a layman, KNOW who was behind the Egyptian and Libyan uprisings (Al Qaeda, Iran, and other terrorist networks!), then WHY wouldn’t these same Iranian-backed organizations be also trying to overthrow the Assad regime?
Better the devil we KNOW, rather than the devil we DON’T KNOW!
Besides, if OWE-BUM-MAO and screech-owl Hillary are backing the INSURGENTS (suggesting outside influence!), then this HAS to be anti-Amerikan, and more steps in the destruction of Israel, and Western laws!

Some really solid analysis regarding Syria, good job Real News. Between this segment and the segment on Iran, with Michael Rubin, this was one of the best shows ever. I’ve noticed that when S E Cupp is not on the panel, there are fewer interruptions, panelists can actually express their thoughts and the discussions are far superior with more depth and quality. In other words the show works much better. As a GBTV subscriber that‘s what I’m after.

Bashar Assad will do what ever it takes to maintain control, his father used poison gas when necessary to maintain control. Syrian leadership are of the tightly knit Alawite Sect, thus there is little chance of defection. The leadership has seen the seen the results of defeat and will not give up without a terrible price. Chemical warfare weapons and supplies are in place for use at this time. The first sign of outside interference will trigger immediate and massive reaction. Supplying arms to the insurgents would probably just prolong the carnage without changing the outcome. Thus we are probably doomed to helplessly watch the ugly spectacle.
