Houston’s Holocaust Museum Receiving ‘Phenomenal’ Donations After Hateful Threats

On his television and radio programs last week, Glenn Beck discussed the horrific antisemitism that arose after the Houston Holocaust Museum asked for support restoring a Danish boat that helped save thousands of Jews during WWII.

“Burn that piece of (expletive),” one voice mail said. “We don’t want them to use it to get away next time.”

According to a sponsored message that ran on The Blaze:

Danes of all faiths (and some with no professed faith) banded together and smuggled their Jewish friends and neighbors out of Denmark on fishing boats. The heroic actions of a few managed to bring 7220 of Denmark’s 8000 Jews to safety in Sweden, barely ahead of advancing Nazis.

The ‘Hanne Frank’ is the type of boat that saved the lives of so many Danish Jews. This 70-year-old fishing vessel with a heroic heritage has been donated to the Holocaust Museum in Houston, TX.

The inspirational story of the Danish people’s selfless actions is one that must be saved for future generations.

Braeden Howard, a Pennsylvania consultant for the Holocaust Museum in Houston, was so disgusted by the hateful reactions that he made his first YouTube video.  “I’ve never received any kind of a message like that,” he said Friday.  “I felt so slimed, I didn’t know what to do.”

But now, the mood is changing.  After the YouTube video went public and Glenn Beck brought widespread attention to the hatred, the museum has received “phenomenal” support and donations.  By mid-afternoon that day, online donations had reached $4,000, and many phoned-in contributions.

Susan Myers, the museum’s executive director, said, “In the history of the holocaust, there are few opportunities to celebrate…We have celebrated the Danish people who took it upon themselves to rescue Jews,” she said. “We hope everyone can emulate their actions, can stand up and do the right thing.”

    The socialist anti-Semitism is exposing itself and the moderates and the right are refusing to support that and are not turning their backs on Israel, but instead the leftists have strengthened the resolve of the people of the US for Israel in spite of them and their political party being in power.

    Growing up one of my frinds dad would never ware short sleeves.! It was only after I was 16 he showed me the numbers on his arm and told me he was the only one in his famley that made it out alive. Never again

    Keep focussed on the story people. It’s about the ship that needs restoring, not the 2012 election.
    I commend Glenn for bringing this to our attention. I suspect the idiot who left the voice mail message lives in Idaho, where the skinhead headquarters is. Being anonymous must feel secure to him. I agree with one of the above commentators, that it is too bad we cannot trace the phone call to whomever left the message. I stand with Israel.

    I was to young in the 1960′s to even know what was going on here in the south, however I have never in my life been around that kind of hatred. That is frightening, I don’t understand it and that is a good thing!

      No, my friend it’s not a good thing. “Ignorance is bliss” is not a good rule to live by. The Nazi’s are back, and they are not the TEA-party. Moreover, the Nazi’s, Communists and Islamic-Brotherhood are working together again.

      Read as much as you can, my friend. Know what these people are doing and how they do it. Their most lethal tool is deception. Learn how quickly the unwary found themselves to be helpless. I’m still learning. We all should be learning.

    In 2000 I helped design a security system for a Synogoue in Houston. I had designed Church security systems before…Usually just a good camera sysyem…You cannot even believe the security that goes into protecting the Rabbi and the Torah. Nothing like anything I had ever seen. You dont just need cameras, you need a full on armor protection system. I am an Evangelical Christian. I had to make them understand i was there to help them. I did so. I felt so good about what our team designed. It sure opened my eyes to the hatered of the Jews…

    I stand with Israel…

    The Jew Hater who spoke those words better understand that Jews aren’ t going to be pushed out of this country easy. You do know that about Texas Gun Laws right? I sure hope you know, as Jews have been carrying concealed weapons for some time. Cowards like this are just that, Cowards. They record their voice on an answering machine, so what. It means nothing and they mean nothing, just another useless old man with too much time on his hands to do something constructive like put a bullet into his brain.

    I cannot understand this hate. It makes no sense except that it comes from darkness and the depths of hell. I suggest anyone who is able, make a donation to thank those that had the courage to stand and be encouraged to stand against this mans hate today. I say to you sir, unless you repent and change your heart, your children, and your childrens children, will remember you as an evil man of whom they are ashamed. God forgive you if you have passed your hate to your children, your friends and your community. I pray to that you have to courage to ask God to change your heart. You can be healed. You can be a light instead of a black spot in history. God can change your ugliness to beauty and your children will tell the story of how thier dad woke to the truth of love.

    I really don’t understand the animosity towards those who are Jewish. Are the haters members of the KKK or extremist Islamics? We also have to include the extremist of the Left – they are way out of the range of decency that’s found among most of us.

    How can anyone condemn the saving of innocent lives? Many of the lives saved, were children. What power do children have on the events of the World? It’s racist to endorse the death of Jews.

      one of our young vets said after doing online research he was too shocked at how many [white American] KKK’ers and their females have joined islam, preferring to hate the Jews MORE over their lifelong hatred of blacks and Jews. that might explain that skinhead white American ‘muslim judge’ in PA who preached sharia law from the bench last month.. no doubts here that vile caller was a KKKer-probable muslimite. too bad they couldn’t trace the call so we ALL can know who he is.

      side note, in ‘08 KKK called for it’s members to vote for obama, him being like them — democrat. they also believed he was muslim, hence a Jew-hater [boy that has been proven out] like them.

    Glad to see there are still people with decency and respect for the past and dont want to lose it. If we let the past be forgotten then we stand in condemnation to repeat the same lessons over and over again, as we are learning yet again under Obama.
