How Did the Israeli Press Cover Beck’s Events in Caesarea?

The solutions to the problems of our times are not within the reach of political leaders, rather divinity, US pundit Glenn Beck told nearly 3,000 enthusiastic followers in the Caesarea Amphitheater on Sunday night, at the opening event of his four-day Restoring Courage rally.
“I’ve spent the last few years trying to find solutions for what is happening in the world,” he said on the backdrop of the pillars of the grand stage. “While there may not be a political solution, the good news is the God of Abraham ain’t running for office,” he said to loud applause. “Be not afraid, know who he is, know his face, know that he is a God of covenants and miracles. We are leaving the age of man-made miracles of spacecraft, and we are entering the age of the miracles of God.”
The pleasant evening wind carried the gentle fragrance of the adjacent Mediterranean Sea to the audience in the ancient outdoor theater, the dozens of buses that brought them to the northern city lined up impeccably and awaiting their return in the parking lot like Roman legions. The group of nearly 2,000 Christians who flew in especially for Beck’s event, most of them Americans, will attend an event Monday in memory of the Holocaust, with the grand finale of the tour being the Wednesday Restoring Courage event, to take place near the Western Wall.
The Roman ampitheater hosts some of the wildest concerts in Israel, but it rarely sees a crowd as excitable as this one. After all, this was no mere musical act, but the conservative broadcaster Glenn Beck.
“While there may not be a political solution, the good news is the God of Israel ‘aint running for office,” he declared to rapturous applause Sunday.
Don’t worry about trifles like diplomatic processes and peace plans, went his message. After all, the entire world is “reentering the age of miracles of God.”
Beck declared that the Christians gathered there should “not only love Israel but we love the Jewish people as they are.”
The former Fox News talk-show host was joined on stage by the American evangelical icon John Hagee, who, in a twist on Kennedy’s famous “ich bin en Berliner” comment had the crowd chanting “ani yisraeli,” which means: “I am an Israeli.”
The JDF article concludes:
While most of the Israeli rabbinic establishment steered clear of the event, American-born Shlomo Riskin, Chief Rabbi of the West Bank settlement of Efrat, attended and spoke. He told the crowd that the event was “magnificent” and “transformative,” and praised Beck’s “courage to love us in our otherness.”
The few Israelis in the audience felt it was a shame that more did not attend. “People told me I’m crazy for coming,” said Seth Greenberg, a high-tech manager from Ranana. “A lot of Israelis are afraid to assert themselves and think it will cause us problems, but I think the time that people like the underdog has passed and we need to be proud because the world loves a winner.”
Beck actually spoke relatively little (although he did manage to cry often), giving the floor over instead to his main guests – historian David Barton, Efrat founder Rabbi Shlomo Riskin and author Mike Evans.
All three did pretty much what they were presumably booked for: Barton brought historical gravitas to the words of the Bible; a moist-eyed Evans recounted a traumatic childhood of anti-Semitic taunts from which he was saved by a vision of Christ; and Riskin spoke of Jewish appreciation for the support of the Christian pro-Israel community, and in particular that of Glenn Beck, who, according to Riskin, is a “deeply patriotic American, a true friend of Israel.”
“We are not alone,” Riskin said. “We are Jews and not Christians; you Christians, nevertheless, have the courage to love us in our otherness.
“We are profoundly grateful for your courage to love us and stand with us,” he added.
It all seemed carefully scripted, even down to the screens with lyrics of the Hebrew songs transcribed in English. The determination to stand by Israel and the devotion to the Jewish State was palpable, and oft declared.

Posted on August 22, 2011 at 10:30amHawkish Likud activist tells ‘Post’ he objects to US Christian
broadcaster’s plan to hold Restoring Courage rally near Temple Mount.
American broadcaster Glenn Beck has faced criticism from left-wingers and Reform rabbis in the US and warnings from Arab MKs and Peace Now in Israel ahead of his Jerusalem mega
event set for Wednesday night at Jerusalem’s Southern Wall site.
But Beck has been welcomed warmly by the Israeli Right until Sunday, when hawkish Likud activist Moshe Feiglin denounced him in an interview with The Jerusalem Post.
Feiglin objected to the Christian broadcaster holding his Restoring Courage rally so close to Judaism’s holy site.
“Glenn Beck should do such an event in his court, not mine,”
Feiglin said. “Besides territorial sovereignty, there is also a concept of spiritual sovereignty. When he holds his event so close to the Temple Mount, he is supporting us physically but undermining us spiritually.”
Feiglin noted that Beck was purposely holding his event close to the site where, according to the New Testament, Jesus overturned the tables of the moneychangers where Jews on
pilgrimage to Jerusalem redeemed funds for sacrifices that
would be made in the Temple. He said this was problematic,
because the incident has been a source for anti-Semitism for
centuries.

One of the most arrogant statements ever. Glenn Beck is a radio-trained exploiter of the ever-changing popular sentiments and since his message is so exclusive (re: GBTV-the truth lives here) and his followers so incorrigibly loyal he controls both the sentiments and the next thing they need to be told. Notice how the Blaze top articles are manufacturing a sense of escalating conflict in Israel to neatly coincide with his rally.

I‘m sure you left Think Progress because you couldn’t convert anyone so you came back here where everyone agrees. Wouldn‘t you constitutionalists appreciate hearing a viewpoint from someone who isn’t totally convinced by Beck? Wouldn’t that make for a fairer discussion? Our problem is not that we don‘t agree but that we can’t even converse. I believe that you see the funnel of wealth up into fewer hands as an inescapable product of natural laws. I think you see social programs as a free crutch or a way to remain lazy instead of a way to make ends meet and survive in poverty in a world of abundance. I think you’d defend the fact that we Americans are roughly 5% of the planet’s population yet we use 25% of the energy. Posted on August 22, 2011 at 5:03pmGod did, does, and will bless Israel. As for Thelonious, the world GDP (2010) was roughly 63 Trillion dollars (per Wikipedia). The US portion was about 14.6 Trillion (about 23% of the total). Also per Wikipedia, U.S. total energy consumption (2006) was 29.26 PWh out of a world total of 138.41 PWh (about 21% of the total) and the U.S has 4.5% of the world’s population (2011). What this means is that it takes ENERGY to MAKE WEALTH. Americans are VERY productive and make a lot of wealth, consuming energy while doing it, BUT we produce that wealth more efficiently. Furthermore, if you are concerned about the environment, then you should DEMAND that products be made here since we consume LESS energy to make/delivery products than our less efficient competitors (23% of the wealth using only 21% of the energy by 4.5% of the people). What you are asking is for Americans to take a vow of poverty by restricting energy and therefore restricting wealth, to which my answer is NO.

” I’m just not that invested in telling you how wrong you are.” But invested enough to write a non-response, seems a little on the lazy side to me.
“How unproductive do you think the countries are that keep your grocery stores stocked?” I did not claim that they were not productive, just not as productive as we are on an energy per GDP basis. You should be happy that our productivity allows us to buy goods from other countries, increasing their wealth and their standard of living.

Candles? You do know that they release soot and possible cancer causing agents don’t you?
How about whale oil lanterns? No, I guess not.

Lively economic turnover isn’t always a good thing, just ask the many Jamaican dairy farmers who went out of business when cheap U.S. powdered milk flooded their markets. Or the obsession instilled in our brains that we need new phones and gadgets every year, Sudanese child-miners be damned. And people like you uphold our GDP as some pure illustration of our good ‘ol work ethic and not economic manipulations set up from our colonial past. Where we differ is that I think they should be able to decide that for themselves. Live you life as you see fit but don‘t take away other people’s options because YOU believe that you know better. Convince them if you can but do NOT lie to them or use partial facts.
GDP is just a way of scoring an activity, there is nothing good or bad about it.
As for poverty, can you explain how Americans NOT buying something from a third world nation enhances those people’s lives? To end poverty, I would suggest that those countries take up the rule of law instead of the rule of men. African farmers plant far more than they can consume, and do not store most of it because if they stored a lot (a form of wealth), someone will just take it away, so why bother. Americans did not do this to them.
I live in a passive solar home that I designed and built (cut the wood and nailed it). My energy costs are far below average and I still want it lower and more self sufficient. I have batteries for storage as an experiment. Anyone ever tell you that besides the initial expense and the short useful life that a battery pack is only as good as the weakest unit? Same with PV panels. And don’t even think about shading a panel. Little problems can reduce a project to useless waste. But remember, I must be some crazy TEA wingnut so ignore what I have said.

I have seen irrigated corn in Indiana and Illinois but I must confess that I have never seen irrigated wheat. But so what? If the farmer can afford this method, then let him do it. If there is a better method he will soon switch or be out of business. Think of it as economic evolution. Only the fittest survive, the rest adapt or go out of business.
I did chuckle at your complaint about being unfairly viewed as a Soros Zombie considering your comment “You wingnuts are so lazy and stuck in this panic room scenario scripted by revelations, having a TEA party with the Koch bros, waiting for the grid to be rebuilt and America’s future to be restored before you pop out and try to take credit (or make a profit).”

America doesn’t have to be mentioned by name in the plain text of the Bible to be referred to in the text. I’ve been an Insider Extreme subscriber for over a year, paying the full $9.95 a month, and it’s the best money I ever spent. The true Israelites are hidden in the ‘wilderness’ in plain site. See the-red-thread.net for the truth. Also, GBTV has NO sponsors! We The People are paying him to get the Truth to us! FNC can no longer handle the truth, which is why he left the network. When a show or network has sponsors, the sponsors dictate what you can say to a large degree. Notice, FNC cannot mention his name. Coincidence? I think not.

We are all children of the same God. If you believe in Christ, this is what we are taught to do. And if you are Jewish and do not accept Christ as the son of God, you are also commanded by God to love and accept those who have different spiritual practices.
These times, and our God, dictate that we stand together and not allow theological differences to separate us. We Christians love our Jews for the most part, except for those few misinformed ones. I would pray and fight next to a Jew any day my friends!!

Posted on August 22, 2011 at 9:17amWhile many are scared during these times of unrest and uncertainty, I am excited to live in times as these, the word of the Lord is coming true right before our very eyes, and the end of this age, and the beginning of Gods Eternal Kingdom is close at hand. Jesus warned us about how we would be persecuted during these times, and did any of you ever think that in the United States of America, that we would not be able to speak the name of Jesus in Public?
It’s everywhere now; we can’t speak the name of Christ, or Christmas, or now even invoke the name of our Lord at some Funeral’s anymore, and its spreading fast. The vast majority of Media is Anti-Christ; they make fun of Christians and totally ignore our Brothers and Sisters being slaughtered overseas.
Rejoice everyone, For As this world crumbles, and falls apart, within a few years, hopefully in my lifetime, Christ will call his Children home. I know we don’t know the day or the hour, But Christ also said, know the signs, and can any of us doubt, the signs are showing themselves in full bloom now. However, if you claim you have first hand knowledge that the hotel and food industry are upset over this event who am I to argue. Just doesn’t make a lot of sense to me though. Why bite the hand that feeds you. Oh wait, that sounds a little like capitalism doesn’t it.
