How Long Can You Sit Through This Video of Obama Blaming Bush for the Deficit?

Let’s play a little game: click play on the following video and see how long you can make it through before you tap out.

The video is of President Obama trying to blame George W. Bush for the astronomical deficit in this country. In fact, he even whips out a fancy analogy involving a restaurant. Here’s how Politico recounts it:

President Obama went on the offense against Republicans and their nominee Mitt Romney, pushing back on the often-repeated accusation that his administration has ballooned the country’s deficit.

“I love it when these guys talk about debt and deficits,” Obama told supporters in Baltimore. “I inherited a trillion dollar deficit.”

“We signed two trillion dollars in spending cuts into law,” Obama said. “Spending under my administration has grown more slowly than under any president in 60 years.”

Obama said that the country’s budget deficits and big debt were the result of the George W. Bush’s two tax cuts, as well as the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

“They baked all this stuff into the cake with those tax cuts… and the war,” Obama said.

“It’s like somebody goes to a restaurant, orders a big steak dinner, a martini and all that stuff, then just as you’re sitting down they leave and accuse you of running up the tab,” Obama said.

He. Cannot. Be. Serious. And yet, he is. If this doesn’t qualify as playing up the intellectually cheap, populist, class-warfare rhetoric, then I don’t know what does. He’s not just decrying ‘tax cuts for the wealthy’ (a.k.a., here, the Bush-era tax cuts) as a paltry route to prosperity, he’s throwing in a steak-and-a-martini metaphor to really classy it up! Sigh. At least he has a good sense of keeping with a theme, I suppose.

    yes you did inherit some debt but you have grew it by three times over and the Deficit is in the tank now under your watch ,

    so as of today we are 18 trillion in debt and in a deep,deep recession all thanks to you

      I can’t listen to Obama at all these days. I have to read the transcripts. From Obama’s whistling “esses” to his baptist preacher cadence, to his lying and mangling of the facts..he’s impossible to listen to.

      I couldn’t sit and watch the whole video, because I knew it would just be the same rhetoric that he and his cohorts have been spewing since January 20, 2009. Nothing could ever be this pompous gluteous maximus’s fault since he feels that he is perfect. Nothing he or the Dems do ever causes any problems. They know what is best and if you dare to disagree you are either racist , stupid, or both. For example, you have arguably the two architects of the housing crash-Countrywide Dodd and Bawney Fwank–create Frankendodd to avoid the possibiity of it happening again. Try to get a mortgage to buy a house today, but be prepared to jump through 100 pages of new legislation that even the banks and the real estate agents are having a hard time understanding. Try to refinance your mortgage for which you qualified 5-7 years ago, but nowadays you can’t qualify even though you have never missed a payment, you hold the same job, your income has increased, and your debt ratio has decreased. Morgan Stanley Chase loses $2B, even with 100 regulators in place, and we have the clarion call for investigations. Solyndra and various other “green” companies go belly up and the only call you hear is the chirping of crickets.

      The Democrats have been Progressing Socialism ever since Wilson… so as long as you have a Democrat Administration, Senate, or House… you have Expanded Social Spending. Thereby, when Obama dumps his 5 Trillion Dollar created Debt problem upon a Republican… who was fight an Islamic War… the INSANITY of the statement is overwhelming!

      I will admit Bush let the mid-term democrat Congress bully their way and overspend, but he did approve of it, however,we were beginning to come out of the recession by 2009. From that point on, Obama spent like a wild man, gave money away to losing ventures and when the last shovel ready job didn’t work out we were in debt beyond all Geo. Bush spent in
      8 years, Obama bumped it up to spending that + amount in 3 years.

      When you can’t cook boiling water, get the hell out of the kitchen — by November 2012.

    I’ve tried plenty of times to listen to his speeches. About the only things that I have been able to take in to the end where the campaign debates in ‘08. During most of those I was more mad at McCain for sitting on his hands. Anyway, 0bama’s speeches I can take for a few minutes and sometimes only a few seconds. He is just such a smug, narcissistic, smart ass that I have to turn the TV off after a short time. Reagan was the Great Communicator, while 0bama comes off as the great blamer of others. I fail to see how his base continues to suck this crap up.

      I think the list is a little longer than that. Illegal aliens who vote. Illegally. Black voters who vote for him ONLY because … Most government workers, both state and federal will vote for him, AGAIN. Many of those hard hats you see on the highway who get paid by the state and federal taxpayers for working on roads and bridges that aren’t yet in need of repair, expansion, replacement, etc. Anyone who gets paid by the government will vote for him, AGAIN. Not to mention those who are on welfare. The list goes on, to include the ignorant, lazy, and guilt ridden white folks. Numbers in the MILLIONS.     …Th th th then after the guy leaves the restaurant I order another big steak, a bigger martini, and dessert for myself, then I order more steaks, martinis, and dessert and go outside the restaurant and give them to all the people on the street. Th th then I get the IRS to force all the hard working patrons of the restaurant to pay my tab.

      Also, the slower growth of the deficit after Obama’s first year in office coincides with the Republican takeover of the House, when they regained control of the purse strings; and spending under the Republican House might well have decreased (not just “increased more slowly”) if not for the opposition of the Democrat-controlled Senate and the Obama administration. So not only does he blame Bush for the actions of a Democrat-controlled budget process (2009 especially; but 2008 as well), but he takes credit for a slow-down in spending that he fought every step of the way.

      His restaurant comparison is only half of the story…..after the other couple got up to leave as they were sitting down, he didn’t say what they ordered after that…….they ordered steak to, and then martinis, and then bought steak and martinis for everyone in the joint, and then decided to rent the place out and invite all their friends to hang out and dine on the same bill…..

      And then say it was the couple that had the steak and martinis that caused the whole problem….

    I made it through the entire video. I have blood shooting out of my eyes!!!!!! I think President Obama missed his calling as a comedian. He sure does like to “try” and be funny. He just eats up the praise. I don’t know what is worse. Having a good for nothing President….or the crowd that loves the good for nothing President.
