How Many People Came Out to a MoveOn Meeting Last Week? That Would Be 6

It can apparently be tough to draw a liberal crowd without the sheen of Occupy Wall Street.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, MoveOn groups around the country are trying to keep the momentum of Occupy going, even as the actual camps dwindle and dissolve.

But how many people made it out to a Pittsburgh chapter meeting last week? Six. With just one person who was under 50.

The Post-Gazette reported:

Member Joy Sabl, 46, of Squirrel Hill said young people come out for MoveOn events here, but they have better things to do on a Thursday night.

“Young people text, young people tweet,” she said. “They don’t need to come to a monthly meeting.”

They have come in the past, she said. They usually stop in for two or three sessions, then don’t feel the need to come anymore. They show up where it counts, at events and protests.

Acting group organizer Bob King told the newspaper they have 20,000 members they send email alerts to about upcoming events. Despite Thursday’s low turnout, the group maintains it has an active membership.

Thursday’s meeting reportedly included discussion about the Citizens United Supreme Court decision, a transit protest and the Wisconsin recall election.

      When I was young and a dumb@$$ I voted Democrat. I signed up for all sorts of email newsletters and still get them today. Now I’m an Independent and laugh at the rubbish sent to me by the likes of MoveOn.org. I can’t believe people actually think that way.

      Some of them may have awakened or at the least become aware of Obama’s true nature; the fact of the matter is, there will be enough organized mass via the unions and interest groups such as the now morphed ACORN to serve as a basis for the riots and uprisings Obama needs to have happen towards the elections.

      Brother Smith…… I respect your passion, it is to be admired. we are all given that right under our constitution. However, I question your rationality. And I’m not being ugly or condemning when I say that. I know you believe there is merit in trumpeting your passion for Paul leading up to the election. For that you are entitled. I suppose in your heart of hearts you believe he can and will win the nomination. But….

      Hypothetically….. for argument sake, let’s say he does NOT win the nomination. For whom will you vote on election day? Paul? Romney? obama? No one? . Though there are four choices, in reality there are only two, because a vote for Paul or no vote on election day will be a vote for obama. For that there is no doubt. Frankly, that’s what obama is counting on. Would that be OK with you? Could your passion/vote for Paul that would help re-elect the current phony that stands for everything Paul is against be OK with you?

      Paul talks a good story, but if one would know the truth, look at the actions and conduct associated with the leader in question. Paul’s “brownshirts” stomping around the country disrupting state conventions and such show that they are a bunch of thugs. So bad that even Ron Paul’s son disavowed them. And, for a second point, Brother Winston Smith cannot tell the difference between Romney and Obama. What kind of blind nitwit must he be? I would say that he has to be a member of the Pauly brown shirts, working to re-elect Obama just to bring more harm to the US, and maybe knock the republic down altogether so his “dear leader” Paul can pick up the pieces and forge the “perfect” authoritarian state that they are dreaming of.

    We are suppose to be a country of laws. That is suppose to include the President of the United States. No one man is to be above the law.
