Howard Dean Recites New Van Jones Battle Cry: GOP ‘Killing the American Dream’

According to Howard Dean, Republican “do-nothing hatemongers“ are in the business of ”killing the American dream.” Funny, because Van Jones just launched a MoveOn.org ad in which he, using the same verbiage, claims Glenn Beck is the one killing it.

Townhall provides the clip of Howard Dean’s rant:

So what’s with all the “American dream” talk flying around among leftists like Dean and Jones? Could it have something to do with the pending launch of a joint Van Jones, MoveOn campaign titled ”Rebuild the Dream?”

In an exhaustive, platitude-filled Huffington Post article written by Jones, he likened his American Dream campaign to “our Tea Party,” and laid out his pesonal plans, and vision, for saving Americans from who he calls the “slash and burn” GOP.

And we should announce that our renewed movement is more than just a mobilization to back unions or oppose illegitimate power grabs (as important as those agenda items are). Something more vital is at stake: our country needs a national movement to defend the American Dream itself.

After all, it is the American Dream that the GOP’s “slash and burn” agenda is killing off.

If deficits are truly the issue, then raising taxes and cutting spending both should be on the table, as tools.

“Attack the American way?”  That sounds strangely familiar.

Jones goes on to suggest his American Dream movement is “rooted in a deeper patriotism” than what he calls “negative liberty” embraced, presumably, by the Tea Party.

That is an important moment and concept. But the notion of “negative liberty” (”don’t tread on me!”) is only one principle among many that make our country great. Other equally vital American values and ideals (like justice, opportunity, fairness and democracy) have gone largely undefended and unheralded, in this recent crisis. That ends — now. Our rising movement should stand for the full suite of American values and principles.

And the American ideal most in need of defense is our most essential one: the American Dream.

Yes, this new “American dream” mantra hails straight from Jones’ playbook — and if these recent tirades by Dean and Jones are any indication, there’s a good chance we might be hearing a lot more of it moving into 2012.

    I just love these people who have not only never spent 1 day in the military but who secretly view those who are in the military with secret contempt. During my 20 years in the U.S. Army I often ran across these types. The liberals who will loudly proclaim their support for the military in public put when you talk to them their disdain shines through.

    Using Dean’s reasoning since Socialism works in the military then their goal is to have everybody living like they were in the military. I admit that by and large I enjoyed my time in the Army because of the people I worked with, those who I trained, and because I felt that I was doing something important for my country. I also felt that I was sacrificing my personal freedom for the good of my extended family and friends. When I did retire one of the great things was the knowledge that everyday I decided what I was going to do, where I was going to wear, live, and what I was going to do to earn a living. It would probably drive me crazy to go back to the restrictions of a military life. Another thing, although the military does many things very well, it does go through a whole lot of money. This is not a good way for a society to live.

      I’m with you; I also served for 20+. The one thing they never mention is that military people earn their carrier every day.

      They never mention the high % turnover rate, or the 10% chapter rate due to failure to conform.

    1. He quotes Mitch McConnell as the one source of Republican plans? No others out there, Mr. Hyeeah? 2. State your version of the American dream. 3. Say how the Republicans are killing it.

    At least Van Jones goes farther by saying his ideas of American values are “justice, opportunity, fairness and democracy.” I don’t believe opportunity, fairness and democracy are in the Constitution (for a reason); and please clarify of what kind of “justice” you are speaking and I‘ll tell you if that’s in the Constitution. Being able to put a swingset in my backyard isn’t in my Federal, or State Constitution. Neither it, nor what you’re talking about should even be considered by the government, because it’s NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS!

    Dean and Jones “ameriKan Dream” reminds me of two other historical dreams.
    The Commie told the little people during the Russkies revolution dream that they were gonna make the rich pay. and they (lil’ peoples) were gonna get to divvy up their properties and riches.
    We all know how that turned out. The state took all the riches and properties and the little people found themselves working for even more fearful masters.At least their old massas did not throw them in Gulags.
    The next dream happened in Rhodesia, nown know as Zimbabwe, where if one is in possession of a nearly worthless ameriKan dollar, One is considered a multi millionaire in Zimbabwe “munny”?
    Mugabe the marxist told the ignorant blacks to help him throw out the evil whites and he was gonna share their wealth w/ them.
    Mugabe took all the goodies for himself, now whereas befor,Rhodesia used to “Export”agriculture products and the blacks were not starving under the evil whites, the country can’t even produce enough crops to feed itself and the people are starving. Though Mugabe and his party hacks are fat and happy.
    So much for the dreams concocted by marxists like Jones and Deans and marxists in general. Unless you like dreams of being slaves coming true after you wake up..

    The government gave me NOTHING for my American Dream. I came from a coal miner’s family (grandpa), that had NOTHING, not even an education. I was the SECOND in my family to get a college degree. I paid for it MYSELF because my blue-collar dad and mom, working together, made JUST a little too much. I paid for my OWN MBA. I studied, and worked hard, and learned the banking and insurance business from an IT perspective…and now, my reward, is to be told that my movement, the TEA party, is going to KILL my dream? It IS my dream that the socialist/communist liars in this country, are run out on rail via votes…that we reduce government to its smallest possible size. Government doesn’t HELP anyone realize their dream…not at all. The strings attached to “government help” folks, are DREAM killers, they force YOU to only DREAM GOVERNMENT APPROVED DREAMS. Wake UP America!
