In a heartfelt announcement moments ago, Mike Huckabee said that he would not be joining the race for 2012. After deep personal reflection over the past few months, he recently realized “All the factors say go, but my heart says no.”

Posted on May 15, 2011 at 12:32pmHuckabee is not stupid. If he got wise counsel – he would have been told that the way he
applies his politics comes off as weak and compromising. He is too complicated to run.
His positions are so nuanced and convoluted that he gets sliced up by the progressive media
and too complex for conservatives to unify behind.
I’m still hoping Palin will run – with a strong, aggressive and well-spoken VP (how about West or Bachmann). Palin’s only weakness is that she tires easily and has yet to find the endurance to

Posted on May 15, 2011 at 1:01pmI love all three and think they can beat BO.
West has amazing knowledge of Middle Eastern Affairs (something high on security, right now). West gave up his position in the military for his people (no doubt he’d have our backs, too).
Cain is needed for the economy. He’d whip things into shape, quickly. He, like West, has Grit and we NEED Grit, right now.
Palin is at the top of the field in Energy = No one can touch her in that respect. Again, she’s got Grit
All three aren’t afraid of a one to one “showdown” with BO – and they would win, hands down. These three need to join forces and the US will be at the top of it’s Game, once again. Throw Paul Ryan in there and the team would look similar to the “Founding Fathers”

Posted on May 14, 2011 at 11:03pmHuckabee is the reason we have Obama in office. He wasn’t going to win, he wouldn’t pull out, it split the conservative vote between him and Romney and we ended up with that old fool, McCain. To this day I wonder whether McCain voted for Obama. He sucked up to him constantly. What an ******* that man is.

I think he is right on most things, but a bit too inflexible to gain the support of the Congress when it might be vital. I also see Ron Paul as a great value to the country in his present capacity and appreciate his additions to the discourse as a potential candidate.
Allen West is indeed a very good man for the job and far more electable. I just don’t count him as #1 at this point in time.

Posted on May 15, 2011 at 11:15amRon Paul has a much greater chance of defeating Obama because his policies reach across the spectrum, and would steal votes from Obama’s base.

Posted on May 15, 2011 at 9:29amWell @ONE YRS. FOOD RATION LIKE GLENN SAYS.. read the whole thing and …….. The Blood of 4 cops are on Huckabees hands…… I would have pulled the switch!
His first incarceration began in 1989, Facing sentences totaling 108 years in prison
Prior to his alleged involvement in the shooting, Clemmons had at least five felony convictions in Arkansas and at least eight felony charges in Washington.
He was arrested when he was a junior at Hall High School for carrying a .25-caliber pistol on school property.
In 1989, a 17-year-old Clemmons and two other accomplices robbed a woman at midnight in the parking lot of a Little Rock hotel bar. Clemmons pretended to have a gun in his pocket and threatened to shoot her if she did not give him her purse. When she responded, “Well, why don’t you just shoot?”, he punched her in the head and ran off with the purse, which contained $16 and a credit card.
On May 11, at 1 a.m., Clemmons appeared naked in his living room and forced two female relatives, ages 11 and 12, to fondle him
He told a police officer that President Barack Obama and Lebron James were his brothers, and Oprah Winfrey was his sister.
Clemmons opened fire on the officers, shooting them to death. Investigators said the murders were a targeted, execution-style attack and not associated with a robbery; Clemmons did not aim at any other customers or the two baristas working at the time. The four slain officers were Mark Renninger, Ronald Owens, Tina Gri

Not murder and then he was set free ..Low and behold he was arrested SEVERAL times after he got out and even was let out on $150,000 bond for raping a child.. Now I ask Where is this Hucks fault ? The man served major time for burglary and should’ve been set free… After that then if he is arrested several times with charges including gun and child rape, he should’ve been held not able to bond out and those policemen would never have even had to deal with that low life Maurice… Besides ALL OF THAT, yes his sentence was reduced but the parole board didn’t have to let him go either… Not Hucks fault.. sorry, yes you are wrong… Read it again..

Posted on May 15, 2011 at 12:54am@A2Z, Mitt Romney is a very honorable man who like Sarah Palin has been totally demonized by the media. That same healthcare plan that he was a part of bringing Mass, was highly praised by conservatives like Jim Demint and the American Heritage Foundation. There are many who are running who have much bigger issues than Mitt Romney. He has always been very strong in favor of the constitution. Unlike many politicians Mitt Romney is not going to make promises that he can not keep.If elected you will be pleasantly surprised, but you are not going to hear him make promises he cannot keep because he realizes a President’s powers are limited.
He did say that he would get to work from day one to do away with Obamacare. Just remember that those who are saying all the right things people want to hear are going to be the biggest disappointments when they become President .Any of you who have not read Mitt Romney’s book “No Apology or watched the video I will provide the link for, you are just repeating lamestream media lies about Mitt Romney and are just helping the media fix the election, as anyone can repeat media spin that is why we have Obama because millions just kept repeating media spin. This video is the best insight to Mitt Romney other than his book “No Apology” http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1661840169999707395#

Posted on May 15, 2011 at 12:59am@Darby,
Yes, but far less than I am concerned about Huckabee’s ideas of government expansion for his moral agenda. I don’t vote for a candidate based on whether there are one or two issues I do not agree with, rather I vote for candidates that I agree with the majority of the issues that they support. I’m sick of the Republicans who preach the evils of “big government”, but then turn around, expand government and spending if it fits their moral/Evangelical/Progressive agendas. I say “No” to government expansionists and moral busy-bodies, on both sides of the aisle. Stay out my life, my wallet, and my bedroom.
I will keep an eye on Herman Cain, continue to research his position on the issues, and if he takes a position that I consider a bridge too far, then I will look into others. I’m reviewing all the GOP hopefuls, but as for right now, Herman Cain is my favorite.

Posted on May 14, 2011 at 11:50pmI agree that Allen West is an outstanding American and may one day make a great president. But if you believe that government is too big and intrusive and you are worried about the economic future, please look at Ron Paul. Don’t listen to anyone in the media (not even Glenn), about Congressman Paul, listen to his own words and compare them to Thomas Jefferson’s. Jefferson had the truest understanding of American Liberty ever, and no other politician today comes close to Ron Paul in this same understanding. In 2008 I listened to the people that I relied on for “good” info (like Glenn, Hannity, Rush, etc) and believed (as I was told) that Ron Paul was a little kooky and “un-electable”. After the disaster of the McCain nomination and resulting Obama election, I decided to take a closer look at Ron Paul on my own and I found that I was so wrong about him and also about many of the beliefs that I had implanted by the supposed conservative media. I have always considered my self very conservative and have always voted straight Republican. Now I know I was wrong about a lot of things and now I am a true conservative and am approaching the understanding of liberty that so few “conservatives” have today. Ron Paul is Liberty’s ONLY hope in 2012.

That is what America is all about. When you start picking and choosing at freedom, it all goes downhill. You and I both agree that Islam is an offensive religion, but the Constitution guarantees rights even to those we completely disagree with. When the Ground Zero mosque issue was in the news I was ticked off at the offensiveness of the very idea, but when I put aside my anger, I see that Ron Paul is right on the issue of private property rights. Taking those away from anyone is a slippery slope.

Listen, I don’t defend people acting in malice in the guise of Islam, and I definitely do not defend righteous crusaders.
In that respect, not only is your opinion that Islam is a totalitarian ideology wrong, but how you claim it merely as fact, because it is your opinion, leads to discrediting your statements.
Furthermore, I don’t dislike Allen West, I do dislike the fact he is unaware, and seems uncaring about the Federal Reserve, and the problems it has created and continues to pose, as a problem.
If sound money is not restored, our country’s dollar will collapse, the fallout from that will be much greater, than any terrorist attack on this country. Just take a look at Greece.
Finally, although people seem to like Allen West, either because Glenn Beck likes him, OR because he looks tough on youtube videos, saddens and disheartens me as a person. Use principle to choose your president, not someone who says things that make you feel good.
Also to note, HE IS NOT RUNNING!

Posted on May 15, 2011 at 10:51amLet me clarify:
You made the statement that Islam is a totalitarian ideology, I interpreted that as suggesting somehow that if someone believes in Islam, they automatically believe in destroying a free peoples choices and will.
That said, technically the term “totalitarian ideology” would be correct for Islam and Christianity, simply because your implying that the ideas, support one totalitarian, which would be God or Allah. So technically your statement is true, in that sense, but then again Christianity would fall under the same spectrum.

Report Post »I think we agree on our Presidential candidates and Libertarian ideas on freedom, however I have to chime in on your comment that Christianity believes in “destroying free peoples choices and will”. I couldn’t disagree more. It is true that real Christians want everyone to find salvation in Christ, but that is only out of love as opposed to the forced submission that Islam seems to promote. I admit that through history some people have commited terrible violence in the name of Christianity but those people are not true followers of Jesus Christ as you will find no teachings of Jesus that endorse such atrocities. Compare Jesus to Mohammad (I found a lot of info on Mohammad at Biblesearch.com) and the differences slam the door shut on the debate of which is the true religion of peace.
LibertariansUnite
Posted on May 15, 2011 at 2:20pmLet me clarify once more:
Yes we agree, and yes we agree on true Liberty, and I commend you for embracing the battle of ideas over soundbites. However, you may have misinterpreted what I said.
I think religion is a very good thing in society, I think ultimately it teaches individuals the golden rule, of doing unto others as you would have them do unto you.
I think religion, as many other things in history, has been misused as a vehicle to propagate to the masses agendas that only benefit few.
So, when i made the comment of “totalitarian ideology”, I wasn’t clarifying that both Islam and Christianity are bad, I was stated that if you, very LITERALLY, defined totalitarian ideology, as in ideas that promote one agenda, be it God‘s or Allah’s (which I know are technically the same God), then that could be a correct statement.
I was just making it clear, I originally interpreted that he was suggesting Islam was out to destroy humanity, which I think is not even close to correct.
I don’t believe in P.C. garbage, but I also don’t appreciate it when Republican candidates, lacking any substance to sell their “traditionalist ideals” to Americans, try to rally their supporters through demonizing Islam.
Religions are vehicles that opportunists use to promote agendas, good or bad, it is up to us to see through their misuse, and demonize the individual, and not the ideology.
I also don’t believe that religion is the only vehicle used as well.

Posted on May 15, 2011 at 12:16amI was wrong about Mike Huckabee when I said he is an opportunist and is only about Mike Huckabee, and does not care about this country. He has just proven himself, to be a very honorable man. I believe that he in making this decision is actually putting the best interest of the country ahead of his own aspirations. I believe that he wanted to run from a worldly standpoint but actually listened to the Lord and ended up making the right, yet personally harder decision. I have a deeper and new found respect for this man and if he decides to run down the road what he has done here will play an important role in giving him a second look.
I have been extremely critical of Gov. Huckabee in the way he done the candidate I supported in 2008, Mitt Romney and even more so with the pardoning of so many criminals while Governor. In light of him making this hard yet very patriotic and obviously much prayed about decision, I may give that 2nd chance that he so quickly will give others and start seeing this man in a more honorable light.

C’mon! There is no need to get so personal w/ these persons.
So what if their posts usually shows up first? So what if they post more than others? it’s not the end of the World as we know it.
They may be retired and have more time to post than others. this could be their hobby?
Some folks go fishing everyday, some go golfing very often.
If a person likes to post often, and posting can get very habit forming. Well, they have the right to do so.
Many people readsa number of the postsing here, some read all.
The first page posts are not necessarily the best, sometimes they are good, other times, not so good.
It‘s best to say what you have to say and not worry about who’s first. Many people will read your post, regardless of what number page it is on.
Just chill, the vast majority of the posters here are cons.No sense taking umbrage over the first page.
Each of us in our own way wants what we think is best for the country, this is a forum to say our piece and see what others say and think.
Thiis is just a word of advice, there are lots of things going on w/ the country that gets us all frustrated.
No sense in getting more frustrated about who gets to the first page first.

Well well, here we got again!
1) Consistency, ALWAYS votes pro constitution!
2) Wants to end expensive pointless wars, which not only don’t provide security, merely cost American capital and lives.
3) Wants to return to sound money, and abolish the Federal Reserve, because the culprit, unlike what neo cons and liberals will tell you for our debt/deficit is not each party, it is the freedom each party is allowed to spend via the Federal Reserve.
4) Understands economics/the business cycle: HE PREDICTED THE 2008 HOUSING BUBBLE!
5) Wants to return Liberty to the people again, taking morale judgments about individuals lives away from the government, and back to the people.
6) Wants to end the welfare state, reducing if not eliminating welfare programs that do more harm than good for this country, creating moral hazard.
The facts are in, the choice is clear Ron Paul 2012!
Important point:
Do not rebuttal here, that Ron Paul is “anti military”, anti American, because he supports the Rule of law, and supports countries rights to sovereignty. You cannot fly military aircraft into some unknown country simply because it is immoral, and those actions are usually perceived as an act of war.
