Human Rights Group: Two Gay Men Face Stoning in Iran

Two gay men in Iran have been sentenced to death by stoning for taking part in and taping homosexual acts, the International Committee Against Stoning (ICAS) says.
“According to the news we have received Ayub and Mosleh, 20 and 21 years old, are in danger of execution by stoning in the city of Piranshahr in the province of Kurdistan,” ICAS says in a posting on its website. The group says the men filmed themselves engaging in homosexual acts — video that included pictures of Iranian President Ahmadinejad — and government officials somehow discovered that video (which the men had uploaded to their phones).
“We call on people everywhere to spread the news of the inhuman and medieval act against Ayub and Mosleh and do whatever they can to save them,” ICAS writes.
ICAS has had some success in campaigning against stonings. The group was one of the leading voices calling for a stay when Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani faced the same sentence for allegedly cheating on, and killing, her husband. The stoning was eventually canceled, however Ashtiani could still face death by hanging.
In Ashtiani’s case, Iranian officials found justification for her stoning in Islamic law.
“We must stand against stoning in Piranshahr,” ICAS says.

Posted on January 18, 2011 at 9:48amWhat‘s great about this story is that technically the Iranians don’t have to even admit the boys are gay (and also a wee bit stupid… attention whores know no borders apparently). These fellows could be made to eat rock for simple political dissent… done in very poor taste.
Report Post »Best line of this story; “…government officials somehow discovered that video (which the men had uploaded to their phones).” Um, I think we know how govt. officials got wind of the video. ‘Me!’ monsters are ecumenical… you can be as gleefully stupid as you wanna be, just don’t expect me to scratch my head and play the “Ah, yes! ‘Tis a mystery!” game.
Ya know, I‘m actually surprised there’s a specific committee to address the act of stoning. The world is so jaded with relativism… but then again I am assuming the usual suspects are mute on the issue. I’m looking at you, UN.

Posted on January 18, 2011 at 9:48amOnce again the left and their double standards. I hear that all cultures are equal. No culture is superior. It’s out diversity that makes us stronger. No one on the left speaks out against crucifying christians in Darfur. I don’t hear anything from the left – esp. from NOW – about oppression of women in muslim nations. Nothing about human rights and Lao Gai (political slave labor camps) in China. But allow Iran to exercise its right to Sharia? Horrors. Hey, relax, it’s just their culture. Coming to a Dearborn near you. PS: what do you tell a muslim woman with two black eyes? Nothing. You’ve already told her twice.

Posted on January 18, 2011 at 12:24pm@Akmiikeus. Sarah Palin has been being stoned daily since accepting John McCains request to become his running mate against Senator Obama. Just add your stone to the pile Akmi. Pretty soon she will be buried, the goal of the left. The left must be really afraid of the woman. I guess when you remember that far left Jimmy Carter made way for a Ronald Reagan, you are worried the far left Pres. Obama may be opening the flood gates for Sarah Palin.

What evidence…one shred of evidence…do you have to make the ridiculous claim! That is something social scientists say, but not because they believe it, it is done in the course of study to try and remove bias. Now if you mean the left is politically correct, then you have a point, and I’d agree with you, even though I am a leftist even more liberal than Obama.
You do realize, don’t you, that most leftists think the Iranian government is a bunch of ********, and dislike them, right? Most of the liberals in this country are against the ideas of Iran’s right wing psycho Islamofascist government. Why do you think that this kind of stuff has gay rights groups (liberal, mostly), humanitarian organizations (typically liberal), civil rights organizations (usually liberal) in an uproar? Please, stop just insulting the left any time you can, when you don’t even know anything about it, and in reality, would end up agreeing with them on this very subject.

Posted on January 18, 2011 at 9:39amThis serves as an example of the “useful idiots” quote from Vladimir Lenin. Homosexuals (Gays) are an integral segment of the Progressive-Socialist-Democrat-Union coalition that attacks traditional American values, while supporting Muslim values that include Sharia law (It‘s a package you can’t have one without the other).Present Day Traditional American Values while disapproving of homosexual marriage,DADT revocation, etc. will protect their right to life and liberty. The Progressive Values will eventually let them be consumed like the followers of Trotsky,or Hitler’s BrownShirts(who were mainly homosexual). Hence “useful idiots”. Muslims will take out their Socialist fellow travelers down the road after their alliance has served it’s purpose.

Posted on December 15, 2011 at 11:10amYou do realize that is a crock of bull, right? Traditional American values are bible based, right? What does the bible say? KILL THEM. In fact, it says to stone them (not just them, other crimes punished with death as well). Do you want to know the leading group that murders homosexuals in America? Right wing Christian fundamentalists in this country which follow these “American values” you speak of. Don’t you realize that denying them their civil rights, equal protection under the law, and that very attitude of “it’s wrong to be gay” is what fuels things like the murder of gays, their teen suicides, etc. This attitude of it being wrong is the problem
Do you know what us progressives want to do? We want homosexuals to be accepted, which, once they are, means that they will be treated fairly. We want them to be free like everyone else. We want them to have equal protection under the law, and equal rights.Right now gays are denied about 1000 or so rights by virtue of not being able to marry. It’s horrible, it’s wrong, and it’s unconstitutional (14th amendment, equal protection under the laws. If heterosexual‘s rights to marry are protected by the government’s laws, so must gays). It is against what this country was founded for, freedom, liberty, equality, to have such an attitude and enshrine it into law.

Posted on December 15, 2011 at 11:13amAlso, you do realize that the Muslim faith is almost identical to the Christian faith in it’s views on morality, right? In fact, the entire religion of Islam is a plagiarism of Christianity and Judaism. Muhammad was a pagan before Christian and Jewish priests passing through trading hub Mecca converted him to monotheism, their version of monotheism, as well as all of the religious rules. That is why, if you go to Iran, you are protected legally, under the Iranian constitution. Muslims view Christians and Jews as people of the book.

Agreed–eye witnessed by someone I know who’s been to both hell holes numerous times.
Also being reported and once again lies flow about how religious or devout ALL the muslims are in Iraq and Afghanistan–this is a crock. They have those that don’t roll out the prayer rug same as we have here, those that don’t go to church.
Another lie, during Ramadan when they are required to fast (they are so devout to allah) they use a drug to help quell their hunger pangs called khot. They don‘t go ’hard core’ for allah here.
So, these muslims over there banging their chests about how ‘devout’ they are, how ‘holy’ they are, don’t buy into it. They speak lies about islam being peaceful to make us feel inferior as if they have a ‘bee line’ to that ‘golden door’ in heaven. Just saying.
Seriously, who would want to join a religion that would STONE you for your sexual preference, kill you if you decided to convert to Christianity, STONE only women for committing adultery (what about the guys?), kill you for blasphemy against mohammed, a known pedophile?

Posted on January 18, 2011 at 9:57amAgreed 100%. Additionally, they don’t generally use alcohol but them boys can smoke the hell out of that opiated hashish. Usually five times a day….before prayers. And as far as homosexual conduct, in the mind of a middle-eastern muslim man, you’re only “gay” if you are catching not if you’re pitching. Hey, if you want a good lesson about the true nature of the religion of peace go see your military recruiter and sign-up. They would love to have you and you can go learn so much about these wonderful people, their enlightened, advanced culture and religion.

This is their religion, are we going to step in and tell them how to practice their religion? Of course not. That is not our way. We will try to bribe them by buying their oil with money we borrowed from China instead of doing the right thing. I am old enough to remember friends coming back from Vietnam and one of the lessons that I learned from them was this. According to my friend (who carried two pistols at all times) “In America there is reverence for life here, but there is not in some of the other parts of the world. There is no respect for the living only the greater good of the cause”

Posted on January 18, 2011 at 9:15amNo one said they did deserve it. The comments I’ve seen here are pointing out the hypocrisy of the gay community. Gays protest the military because of DADT, even though they are ridding the world of scum like this, but none are protesting gays being murdered in Iran. That is of course because they would be killed or imprisoned if they did. It amazes me that so many preach tolerance for Muslim extremists who are so obviously intolerant of everyone with whom they disagree. No one is advocating prejudice against Muslims either. There’s a clear distinction between the Muslims who use to live across the street from me and the idiots who are stoning people.

Report Post »As for your bemoaning the fact that gays are not in the streets protesting against this outrage, I would ask : why should they? To what end? Where were the protests against the other Iranian verdicts by women in this country? It‘s intellectually dishonest to say that people are hypocrites because they don’t protest against an action in another country that can not effect yet do protest against policies when they can have an effect. If that is the standard of hypocrisy I would say you have just labeled everyone who has ever protested anything a hypocrite.

Posted on January 18, 2011 at 1:29pmDeutscher (PubliusPencilman), let me try to make this clear for you. Pretesting DADT is fine, but there are far more important issues in this world than that. The people stoning these men in Iran are perfect examples. If one truly believes discrimination against gays is wrong, then do the hard work, maybe even risk your life for your beliefs. Don‘t just protest when it’s easy; protest when it’s hard, too. Go protest in front of the Iranian embassy if that’s all you can do. If they are protesting then it obviously isn’t enough. Do more, if you really care. Like I said before, protesting the military, when they’re doing their part, the hard part and risking their lives, to rid the world of idiots, like the ones doing the stoning, isn’t helping the greater good related to their cause. Talk to missionaries in third-world countries. They’ll tell you all about doing the hard work for the greater good. Those are the people I admire and wish to someday emulate.

Posted on January 18, 2011 at 3:43pmgrandma: the same reason WE ALL sin every day, knowing the Father is disgusted by our sin: we are fallen and in need of a saviour, and even being new creations, we still fall short of the glory of God.

Posted on January 18, 2011 at 9:22amI thought his name was ‘Ahmajimmyjob’ because if it wasn‘t for Jimmy he wouldn’t have a job. Makes me wonder about all those jobs the Kenyan pretender is creating. As to the gay population in Iran; first there were none, now there are two, and soon there will be none again. This is why it’s called the religion of pieces.

If Chris Mathews gets leg tingles from looking at BHO, just imagine what Ahkmadiniwackjob does for Iranians of the man love persuasion.
Well, the upside of these two guys being homosexual is that there are at least two less men for the Iranian goat population to worry about.

Posted on January 18, 2011 at 10:30amLev. 20:13 – “If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death; their blood is upon them.”
I guess they’re just following the Bible.

Posted on January 18, 2011 at 11:00amWill the embrace everyone progressives speak out??? Of course not unless they think it will buy them favor with americans. They certainly don’t care about christians being murdered all over the Middle East. Thier lies are exposed through comedy parody in the new web movie, “A Not Too Grimm Fairy Tale”. We must learn to laugh them out of thier bully pulpit despite thier control of the media. Watch the movie here. http://www.marcrubin.com/Hairmerica.ivnu

Posted on January 18, 2011 at 11:41amHey ICAS. If you really, really believe that strongely in what you are doing I recommend you go to IRAN and confront their government face to face. Yea. Oh I’m sorry…you might be added to the stoning list yourselves. (We could only wish) Gosh…can’t have that happen. I mean who could possibly think of taking a real stand for something you believe in. Sorry again…I forgot that you stand for something so long as it doesn’t require action or SACRIFICE. Got it! You are a joke ICAS. You are just a bunch of lib progressives who take tax dollars for your miserable organization and all you have to do is sit in your bedroom at mama’s house and yell over the computer. Such a bunch of limp wristed opportuntist. Shut the HELL up.

People may call Christians hypocrites for not following the word of God, but in the case of Lev. 20:13 I think it’s a very good thing.
