Hundreds of Palestinians Throw Stones at Israeli Police Outside Holy Site

JERUSALEM (The Blaze/AP) — Israeli police clashed with hundreds of Palestinians throwing rocks after Muslim prayers at Jerusalem’s most sensitive holy site on Friday. This incident follows other incidents of unrest, including arrests on Sunday after over a dozen Islamic worshipers hurled stones at Christian tourists near the Temple Mount.

It was not immediately clear what set off the confrontation at the shrine sacred to both Jews and Muslims. However, there have been heightened tensions in recent days, with rumors circulating among Palestinian activists that far right Israelis are trying to gain entry to Muslim-controlled areas at the site. The rumors were false, according to Israeli police.

Violence has repeatedly erupted in the past at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, which sits atop the remains of the two biblical Jewish temples. The shrine looms large in the rival narratives of Israelis and Palestinians, and any perceived attempt to change the delicate division of control there quickly sets off protests.

Friday’s incident began after Muslim noon prayers. Hundreds of worshipers emerging from the two mosques in the walled compound staged a demonstration protesting the rumored plans by far right activists to enter the shrine.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said hundreds of worshippers threw rocks at police, who fired stun grenades to disperse the crowd. Najeh Bkeirat, a Muslim official at the scene, said demonstrators began throwing stones after police tried to stop their march.

Rosenfeld said 11 officers were lightly hurt by rocks. Bkeirat said about 30 Palestinians were treated at the scene for light injuries from tear gas inhalation and scuffles. Rosenfeld said no tear gas was fired and that four Palestinians were arrested.

    Palestinians are a nomadic Jordanian tribe and have zero legitimate claim to the land of Israel. God gave Israel to the Jews as an everlasting inheritence. If you deny the Jews’ exclusive claim to the land of Israel, you are calling God a liar. Bulldoze the “paelestinian territories” and drive the palestinians into the sea or back into Jordan. Oops, I guess I’m running afoul of Ron Paul fans, but … tough.

      Israel seems to be a lot more free nation then its neighbors. It has such a small population and it survives against all the millions avowed enemies. Don‘t you think its a miracle that the nation still exists and it will exist and out last Iran because of God’s protection. Think again about your silly accusation of apartheid when the rest of the nations are practically dictatorships.

      What boat did one ride in on? Does one seriously think that if Israel did not exist that all would be flowers, and bumblebees in the mideast? ROFL. This land was cursed for many years until the Jews were allowed to return after the holocaust. They have been gathered from the four corners of the earth to make the desert bloom again. The government of Israel built walls to stop sniper attacks from residents who couldn’t even walk out into their yards. The government basically put a stop to the Friday suicide bombings, and bus bombings by building these walls. If one lives in America, how will one feel that our military is being gutted while we are at war, and yet our borders are unsecured? How loud would the demands sound if the same thing were happening here. Don’t feel so badly though. Our President allowed the PLO flag to be raised in D.C. even though they are not a nation. I’m so tired of history being rewritten, and fundamentally changed to try to garner sympathy for a people who constantly wish to cause mayhem.

      I will always stand with Isreal, as they are God’s Chosen People. They are so small, yet the Muslim nations cannot even stand their very exsistance! How odd that they allow people of all faiths to live and work and worship and visit, with no beheadings, stonings, etc. Too bad the Muslims cannot learn this. Isreal has advanced medicine, technology, the arts and sciences more than any other nation, with the possible exception of the USA. Can there be a correlation? Are the Muslim nations jealous? Obviously, their god does not want them to live peaceful, productive lives. He is a god of hate, jealousy, rage…not mercy, justice, and love. Yes, I think I will stand with the God of Isreal, Yehweh! Besides, God says that, although the nations rage against Isreal, yet HE will fight for HIS people. Face it, you cannot fight against God and win, silly Muslims.

      I can add only ONE comment to this Report. The MOST HOLY site is stated. The TEMPLE Mount IS,and AlWAYS HAS BEEN, the most HOLY site of God’s CHOSEN people. PAGANS can claim what they will. I,as a Christian, acknowledge,accept,understand, that the LORD says HE will return to HIS place,as Scripture says. I,and my Jewish brothers, may differ on Jesus, as Messiah,but I know, that WE all look for the Messiah to come. Me, as a Christian, KNOWS HE has,and will, return. MY brothers, God’s CHOSEN people, are looking forward, to their Messiah, which is HE. Our Salvation, comes through the Jews. Mary was JEWISH, Jesus, WAS Jewish,in His humanity. . He came FIRST for HIS people, NOT for us. READ SCRIPTURE!

      Your the one who said the Priest don’t exist anymore so the burden of proof is on you not me. But even if that wasn’t the case, I could still argue my point. If we agree that there was a Temple and that the Priests served in it, then you would have to explain how the Priests disappeared but not all the other Jews. A person is a Priest if their father was one. As a Levite I know my entire paternal line was Levites because it’s always passed from parent to child. It had to start somewhere with someone. If that’s not proof enough, then perhaps you should look into the DNA studies that have been done which, while not conclusive (what is?), do show a different genetic profile between Priests and non-Priests.

      Oh and as for sacrifices, most sacrifices were used to feed the Priests and they only burned the parts that Jews don’t eat. There are exceptions though. Also, animals were only the most often used type of sacrifice. There were also meal offerings (cakes) and fruit offerings. There are also those who say that Prayer replaced sacrifice but I don‘t remember what they said about when the Temple was rebuilt though I’d assume they disagreed (Jews tend to do that).

      Jesus said the temple would be destroyed and by no means will a stone be left here upon a stone and not be thrown down.

      How many of those “European Jews” have no homes to go back to. Many of their ancestors lost everything during the Holocaust. And yet, I don’t see Jews blowing up half of Poland. I’ve been to Israel Smack and there are “Palestinian” who have businesses in Israel, live in Israel, vote in Israel, and pay taxes in Israel. Some even serve in the military. Conversely, I see Hamas and others destroying Israeli businesses, schools, homes, and most importantly, lives. I don‘t see a single Palestinian leader who isn’t calling for an ethnically pure Arab state nor do I see you condemning them for those words (in fact you condemn those who exist in harmony with others). I don’t see any ghettos or walls; rather I see a fence built in response to terrorist attacks (and therefore can’t be used to justify said attacks).

      It was called Palestine because that’s what the Romans renamed it to in order to deny the Jewish claims to the area. It was known as either Judea or Israel before then. Palestine is a Romanization of the word Philistine, a historic enemy of the Israelites that didn’t exist at the time of the Romans. By thinking of the area as Palestine you are merely buying into the Roman propaganda from 2000 years ago.

      I am beginning to think Iran is just chomping at the bit to “retaliate justifiably” against Israel with weaponry they already have.

    Who cares? It’s Tear Gas! Come on you buncha weak-willed whiners. From 91-95 my platoon made a habit of doing PT competitions in the Gas Chamber. Myself and another Para earned a three day pass in 97 because a REMF platoon sgt didnt believe we would stay in and exercise sans pro-mask.

    If you want me to respect your ‘sacrifice’ for your ’cause’, stop attacking and murdering the defenseless and cease your incessant whining. Yes, palestinians and all like-minded residents of any other country. I am talking to you. Your ‘woe is me’ turns stale fast when you are the ones bringing woe. And stop blaming Israel for the same ‘crimes’ of which your own neighboring Arab states are guilty. Are Blinders a racial weakness or are they issued with your Koran?
    You’re a bunch of malcontents and sociopaths. Nobody wants you in their country, ok? Save for the Israelites, and why in SamHill they are willing to live with you is beyond me. I am all for forgiveness and giving a fellow a second chance, but after two decades, IMHO, you’re all out of chances.

      That’s not even tear gas. Those are flash-bangs which literally just make a lot of noise. You’d have to be holding one to even suffer minor injuries. And notice how the police only had batons and not guns? They were using non-lethal force.

      Truth be told, you’ve identified the wrong people. Here’s the facts about who nobody wanted in their country: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89vian_Conference

      There had to be a good reason why so many nations, from all over the globe, had the exact same response to one particular ethnicity. Is the problem the ethnicity’s behavior or is it the rest of the world?

      @Jerk
      Antisemitism isn’t a good reason. Reasons don’t have to be based in logic or truth. Why did we enslave Africans? Because they were inferior? No. Because they were different and didn’t do things the way we felt was “civilized”. Same story with Native Americans (though there were some positive relations there). Sometimes people are just racist.

      There is… It’s what God (yes I will spell it out) said they would endure until the “last days”. A prophecy that is more that 2000 year old fulfilled in our days!

    This will be coming soon enough to America, only the breakdown will be along lines of faith and of ideology. What is happening in the Middle East will pale compared to the potential blood baths and carnage Obama will unleash here at home.

    The Fakistinians have been whipped up into a frenzy by their leadership. It has been claimed that the evil Joos are planning to blow up the Al Asqa Mosque (An excellent idea in my humble opinion.). The only group to ascent to the Temple Mount was a group of Christians (The Fakistininans stoned them) and yet they still riot.

    Muslims only know how to do one thing if others don’t kowtow to their demands: RIOT. Well let them riot and remember not to use the rubber bullets.

    This is crazy! The continuing battle between religions in Israel (Palestine) is getting worse and worse every year. Not being a believer in any religion I’m confused why people cannot let this country be used by all people of all the Abrahamic faiths.

      There is no such country called palestine … It’s called Israel … formerly Judea and Samaria … The “palestinians” should be called “hamasians” because that’s who it is … HAMAS.

      Off the top of my head — Goes back to the story of Abraham’s two sons, Isaac (by his wife, Sarah) and Ishmael (by his wife’s servant) – in Genesis. Ishmael’s ancestors became the Arab Muslims, Isaac’s the Jews. There has always been animostiy, jealousy between these two peoples…argument about who’s land God really promised. God promised the land of Israel specifically to Isaac’s ancestors only – gave Ishmael other land (Arabia, etc.) Mohammed came along and started Islam, which said the Bible was wrong & changed scriptures to favor them over the Jews. It’s a “supernatural” satanic hatred. For more info – research. Great Book: “Gods War on Terror” by Walid Shoebat (ex-Muslim Palestinian terrorist converted to Christianity)

      http://www.shoebat.com

      It was prophesied by God’s (Christian “God” which is not the same as “Allah”) prophets in the Old Testament that this fighting would continue until the “end times”…..(Armageddon) – see Revelation (Bible). It’s happening just as God said & is yet another proof that the Bible is from God (written through men) and true beyond reasonable doubt.

    @Bryan from Florida
    So you’re implying that Palestinians have no claim to their land because, as you put it, a “Palestinian identity” did not exist until 1967? What a load of hogwash.

    I’ve heard so many interesting varieties of that notion, the most ridiculous being that Palestine was an “uninhabited wilderness” before the Jews came to Palestine and founded their state and that Arabs, at best, “wandered around it with their camels”. Some go even further claiming that the Jews reclaimed the land and “made the wilderness blossom” and that Arabs only came to the area from surrounding countries in order to profit from what had been achieved by “Jewish zeal”. History, however, proves otherwise. Take for instance the example of Ramlah (not to be confused with Ramallah) that many Israelis claim was “liberated” by Israeli forces on 12 July 1948 implying that it was originally a Jewish town. In reality it was Caliph Suleiman who established Ramlah in the 700s on a stretch of land which had never been built on before. Why not do yourself a favor and read for example the vivid 10th century description of the vibrant Ramlah by the Arab geographer Al Mukaddasi.

    However you choose to word it or spin it, Bryan, your theory is still a bold-faced lie aimed at dampening any prospects for peace in the area. Shame on you.
