Hundreds Protest FBI Raids on Anti-War Activists

MINNEAPOLIS (The Blaze/AP)— Protesters gathered outside FBI offices in Minneapolis and Chicago, bearing signs and shouting chants condemning the agency’s searches of anti-war activists in both cities.

About 150 people protested in Minneapolis on Monday, holding signs reading: “Stop FBI harassment. Opposing war is not a crime.” Roughly 120 people marched in Chicago.

Search warrants had indicated investigators were looking for connections between the anti-war activists and radical groups in Colombia and the Middle East.

Many of those searched tell The Associated Press they’ve had ties to activist groups and have traveled in the Middle East or Colombia. All denied contributing any money to terrorist groups.

A leader of the Minnesota Anti-War Committee, Jess Sundin, says at least 13 people have been subpoenaed to appear before a federal grand jury in Chicago.

    It hasn’t been that long since we had the soviet union. I find it amazing how short term the socialist and commies memories are.

    If they are just anti war activists I have a huge problem with the raids. If they are actually providing support and there is evidence of that then that is a different story.

    If you ever want to get some good laughs, go to the huffington post and read the blogs. People actually are fighting about what kind of socialism is best. Its like….Hitler is best, No Stalin is best, No Pon Pot is best ect.

    Since Obama is all about images I think he sent the FBI out to intimidate anti-war protesters. Obama can’t afford images of huge anti-war rallies like those during Bush Administration. He knows it’s coming. They are starting to turn on him. Plus I think he’s paranoid. Think of all the times Obama has tried to silence his critics—Rush, Fox News, Beck, Palin, The Tea Party. Obama has gone after all of them. And now Obama is starting to go after his own base. He might be the first president to leave office because of a mental breakdown.

    None of this matters, not the de facto president’s birth, fake elections, not the congress, senate or judiciary. The government is a corporation established unlawfully by the Act of 1871 but even that doesn’t matter because THIS NATION HAS BEEN RESTORED to WE THE PEOPLE!     I sincerely regret that I did not confront Bill Ayers when he was running amuck in our land. What gave that spoiled brat and his despicable wife any reason to bomb America? Ayers was a rich kid whose father was CEO of Commonwealth Edison utility in Chicago-very wealthy. Yet they were running around crying persecution it was a false cry then for them and many of their friends. When they grew up Ayers had his father with Mayor Daley’s help get his son, Bill, into UIC. As Professor young bill then became involved in radical school politics revising history to make America forget about the failed Progressive policies of FDR, Wilson and Teddy Roosevelt and lobbying for tenure, unreasonable pensions and other destructive programs which have driven the cost of college to an extreme we cannot sustain.
    When we were younger I should have introduced myself to him and given him my opinion of his mockery against America instead of believing he would grow up and repent his youth.

    While I disagree with the political views of those who were raided by the FBI; I strongly support their right to protest the action. I think the FBI needs to quickly explain their reasons and findings for taking this action.

    We live in a society where the government is taking our liberties in the name of ‘protecting us’; and unfortunately too many are willing to surrender those liberties without questioning the path of that action. The real danger is that it encourages those who love power to engineer environments and events that further endanger us so that they may further ‘protect’ us.

    Raiding political opposition is a big step towards dictatorship. This event needs more attention. If there was a real threat then kudos to the Feds; if not than power to the people.

    The difference between an anti-war protester and a sympathizer come down to two things in my mind.

    1) A sympathizer is backed by the group currently being fought.

    2) A sympathizer blames the troops for carrying out the orders of Congress and the President.

    I do not feel that the Federal government has the right to silence any opinion, that is an infringment on freedom of speech. On the other hand a raid into a persons home had better return some hard evidence that this person is a threat to our citizens or else it is another infringment of civil liberty. I do not like Progressives I feel they are a very ignorrant group who only has a one track mind and uses the freedoms of our country to serve their agenda’s.

    In all seriousness the FBI does not respond to warrants under false guise. A judge had to sign them and based on solid evidence that a possible crime has been committed. But good luck on the covering up part. Finally results a Patriot can get behind. Now if they would just visit the crimes the obamas Bin Ly’n administration is clearly involved with, that would be a confidence builder for this veteran and I suspect all freedom loving Americans.

      carrera I agree something is not quite right here.. I am not sure just how independently the FBI works from the government.. or what control the President has over their investigations.. but something is STRANGE here.. While I do not NOT approve of their views nor beleive in them I have to wonder IF this was a big PLOY so the FBI could now harass those who disagree with the President on the right?? and no one could say they are being biased.. or is it that these people are being harassed just because the PRESIDENT is unhappy with this particular group for not agreeing with him and it’s a WARNING to those on the LEFT who oppose Him.?? This is something I can’t figure out.. IF all they are doing is not agreeing and not into being terrorist and we ignore what the FBI is doing are we giving them the green light to hassle people on the right that don’t agree….This is a hard one.. I think they are being thrown under the bus and we are being set up..

So, we have the FBI targeting and raiding the homes of anti-war protestors the same time they are aiding HAMAS. If you were searching for logic before, this one should really have you stumped.

      It’s part of the template. The hard left will agitate to the point of government crackdown, as we see in this case. But what they are after is cracking down on dissident speech (i.e. Tea Parties and others opposed to Obama’s hard left agenda). If they don’t get the crackdown through peaceful activities they will “take it to the streets.” When the smoke clears, the hard left agitators will be released (think New Black Panther Party) and there will be a whole new raft of laws against “hate speech” or “agitation” or “incitement” that they can use against us, and conservative commentators. It’s coming folks, be on your guard, and your best behavior. Don’t get suckered into responding with violence. Let them be the ones that are video taped throwing punches, rocks and bottles.

      What I cannot wrap my mind around, no matter how hard I try, is why anyone living in this country or benefitting from its greatness (pretty much encompasses the globe) would want to “fundamentally tranform” it into anything but what it is or has been. Newer isn’t better in EVERYTHING. There are cases when the classics are the preference. If you really can’t stand our country then get the hell out! If you can’t stand our country then stop taking our money and our military police and protection! Sheesh, they stand up tall to denounce us then come around back to beg. What a crock!
