Hundreds Rally in Support of Gibson Guitar, Blast Federal Government for ‘Abusing its Power’

Gibson Guitar Concert Rally

Hundreds of Gibson Guitar supporters rallied for the legendary guitar factory at a dual demonstration-concert in Nashville, Tenn. Saturday, following a federal raid in August over the company’s importation practices.

The “We Stand With Gibson” rally drew about 500 attendees, including members of the Tea Party, according to the Tennessean. Some carried signs that read “Who’s next“ and ”When they come for you, who will be left to speak?”

Gibson supporters have railed against perceived government overreach, saying it’s putting a boot on the neck of business owners during tough economic times.

Among those who spoke at the rally were Gibson CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and National Tea Party Express Chairman Amy Kremer. In September, Blackburn invited Juszkiewicz to attend President Barack Obama’s jobs speech in Washington as her guest.

The Tennessean reported:

The rally and concert were organized online by a coalition of several dozen groups — most self-identified as tea party affiliates — in response to a federal raid on the company’s Nashville and Memphis offices in August. Federal law enforcement officials confiscated pallets of wood, guitars and computer hard drives from the company on suspicion it violated U.S. environmental laws. It was the second raid in two years on the 117-year-old guitar company. No charges have been filed, and Gibson denies any wrongdoing.

Appearing on the temporary stage set up in a restaurant parking lot across from the Opryland Hotel, Gibson CEO Henry Juszkiewicz thanked the audience and vowed that his company — with continued public support — would “fight the injustice and unfairness together. We will fight, and we will make sure other companies do not face bullies with guns. With your help, we will make permanent changes.”

Gibson Guitar Concert Rally“Here you have a factory trying to stay in business, and keep American artisans employed…and here you’ve got the federal government trying to shut them down” Blackburn said, according to Nashville’s WTVF-TV.

“People don’t hire, they don‘t expand when there’s uncertainty wrapped around the laws, rules and regulation,” she added.

Event organizer Ben Cunningham told the station, “Every American business should not fear the federal government showing up at their front door with guns drawn.” Federal agents were armed when the entered the premises, although according to reports they did not draw their weapons.

Still, Cunningham and others were of the mentality that if the government can raid Gibson, who’s next?

“When that is allowed, government is abusing its power and authority, and that’s scary,” he said.

I used to live in Clarksville, Tn. My next door neighbor worked at Gibson in Nashville (about 40 mile 1 way commute), and he had my family to a couple of their company get togethers. When he first told me that the Feds had raided them I was astonished. That company is run top notch, which matches the quality of the product they produce.

The other day he asked me to donate to their legal fund to defend against the Justice Departments (Federal Government), and to sign their petition. Both were a privilege to do. That company is what America is all about. Had not the regulations because of enviro fruits not been what they are, Gibson would be getting their wood from right here in America. But the Federal regulations require the wood to be from a source foreign. Gibson has followed every rule of import and export to abide by the laws established because of eviro jerks coddled by lunatics in government.

LONG LIVE GIBSON! They are exceptional, because the workers and their management are exceptional.

I think it’s absolutely sickening that this administration chooses to pick on a guitar company of all things when there are real problems going unchecked in this country. Gibson’s stocks of rare woods have probably been in their collection since the 50s. I subscribe to several luthier supply catalogs that have rare woods that are certified. I would be afraid to build a guitar with rare wood appointments with the mentality of the enviro-police obama has working for him. Or I guess he calls them “Czars” just like the Russians, his heros. I can imagine custom guitar builders not going to shows for fear of having their hard, loving work confiscated from them. Odds of getting them back are slim…. after all one of these thugs might like a nice botique guitar for free.

The controversy is over ebony and rosewood used on the fingerboards. Both Gibson Guitar and Martin Guitar use the same sources for the exotic woods. The main difference is Chris Martin, CEO of the Martin Guitar Co., is a long-time Democrat supporter, donating tens of thousands of dollars to numerous far-left candidates and organizations, among them Barack Obama, John Kerry, the Democratic National Committee, Progressives United PAC and the Pennsylvania Democratic Party.

In contrast, Juszkiewicz CEO of Gibson Guitar has a history of supporting Republican candidates and issues. Gibson probably isn’t unionized either.

This is similar to the GM bailout. The Obama Administration decided it needed to close GM dealerships where there was too much competition. The Car Dealers lobby gives most of its money to Republican candidates. And you guessed it, the dealerships that were closed were owned by Republican donors.

Buying Indian wood helps OTHER countries. Find an American company with the ability to make a good synthetic copy. Surely someone can come up with something just as good or even better.

Every once in a while you see hints of a liberals control on the Blaze, i.e. deleting Eisenhowers “Operation…….” which is actual legislative history and responsible for deporting 1.3 million illegals in the 50′s. together with a strong dose of a political correctness tone used only by progressive liberals. I’m always baffled by the “news reporters” who deliberately under report on events that are not of their political persuasion. Once upon a time, each town had two newspapers, the Republican paper and the Democratic paper. Residents subscribed to both if possible, read both accounts and figured that the actual facts were somewhere in the middle.

Now these jokers are watching their own paper‘s subscriptions drop like a stone down the proverbial well and they still don’t get it. They haven’t figured out that most people are on to their “biased” reporting and as the reporting becomes more and more skewed, the subscriber base becomes smaller and smaller. I guess we’ll all be waving “bye-bye” as the print newspapers fade into the sunset and they can thank their own reporters for that.

When we all went to Washington DC on 9/12/2009, the park police told us that there were approximately 1.6 million people in attendance. The press reported tens of thousands. And when there are 13 liberal protesters on a street corner it is reported as dozens. We will always be underreported in numbers, but that is OK, because the useful idiots on the left believe these numbers and will never know how many of us there actually are. The elements of surprise and overwhelming numbers are on our side. :-)

Question… after you watch it, do you really think any of the Republican candidates could or would be able to make a similar speech. That is why she is not running. All these raids are part of the gameplan for Mr Obama and his radicals; put more and more threats, intimidation and pressure upon the innocent to force them to comply, or if they fight back in the courts then you shame, slander, and destroy them…soon enough the time will come when the Feds will just use force with guns blazing to make their point…we are past the point of nudge, well into the shove phase, and soon will reach the “shoot” phase of armed force.

Yes – probably so. But think maybe God is allowing all this in order for it to come its “head” – after all, it is a war……and violence is inevitable. But hopefully, whatever ensues will bring us out stronger b/c we had to face it whether we wanted to or not & make us stronger, enlightened, closer to God, victorious and finally put a definite end to this evil Progressive era. Pray on!!!

obama would shut down and shutter every single AMERICAN business if he could. he’s a filthy animal doing what his master soros tells him to– drive America to its knees so soros’s dream of the FOURTH REICH (aka new world order) can begin.

obama loves comparng himself to real 100% Americans like Lincoln and MLK and JFK. so here’s hoping his last anti-American communist rabid-animal fuhrer-wannabe 30 seconds on earth ends just like theirs did. and soon.

Add armed… let me repeat that… ARMED raids of DAIRY FARMS which are guilty of harboring the dangerous fugitive BESSIE who Laura Frickin’ Ingalls used to get milk to drink from but the super-smart-geniuses at The Regime have determined that drinking MILK from a COW is DANGEROUS and requires ARMED FEDERAL AGENTS TO STOP IT. Personally, the thought of drinking raw milk disgusts me, but fercryingoutloud… Hello??? Bessie is dangerous? Really?

Maybe if Gibson were black and holding a trugeon while intimidating voters at a polling location, the DOJ would have overlooked everything.

On the contrary, raw milk is MORE HEALTHY than Pasturized. Pasturization kills enzymes that are valuable for our digestion, and most diseases are caused by careless sanitation in the care and feeding of the herd, and the handling of the milk. Pennsylvania has the only raw milk liscensing law, and we have bought raw milk for years with no harmful effects.

It also transfers valuable antibodies; I am ferociously allergic to Poisin Ivy, and while I was drinking raw goats milk from our goat, which ate poison ivy, I walke through a field of NETTLES and POISON IVY combined with NO ILL EFFECTS. I was completely de-sensitized to the toxins.

I am glad to see this protest in support of Gibson. Here is a group of people trying to do something CONSTRUCTIVE rather than DEstructive (e.g. the Occupy Wall Street people). I really like what Glenn Beck said awhile back about how to tell whether a group’s aim are good or not good: are they constructive or destructive? If only all Americans would apply that test. Jesus did say you can tell their hearts by the fruit they produce.

What they will accomplish in the next 13 months could be irreversable. It is frightening. So how do we impeach Obama. Or should we? It would undoubtably cause a race war. But, can we afford to take a chance if we do wait? There are no easy answers, the progressives have seened to that.

Hopefully when we get a real president the feds that raided Gibson will be held accountable for their actions. We are seeing the most corrupt government in the history of America.

No offense, but where have you been? If you only watch the MSM you won’t hear anything about it, because like everything else going on within the DOJ, there is no logical defense. Have you heard of Solyndra? How about Holders’ defense of his outright dishonesty on the fast and furious case? He probably “misunderstood” this case as well. I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact that Gibson is the only Guitar manufacturer (because they all use the exact same wood) that contributes to conservatives. Holders’ response to that charge was that it was rediculous. That makes sense right?

This is great to see people standing up for the abuse of power that is currently underway by the DOJ. At the same time Obama is trying to portray himself as the great creator of jobs, the reality is that he is attacking businesses. Then you have the occupy Wall Street people wanting the end of capitalism. Check out this short youtube on these hypocrites on Wall Street.
