Posted on September 4, 2010 at 3:46pmSpeaking of unusual names, on the grounds of the Franklin Indiana courthouse is a memorial to Veterans of the Union Army who died in the Civil War. One man who died was, Private, Bottom Top.

Posted on September 4, 2010 at 3:40pmI lived through Hurricane Hugo Chaves in 1989; at least it was a Latin American name. I would vote for Hurricane Obama, Waters, or Sharpton.
As to a hurricane name after a French person, I predict that it will come on strong at first, and look quite threatening, but once it gets near the US, it will quickly change course and retreat.

Posted on September 4, 2010 at 3:30pmSheila Jackson Lee was the same one who gave a long speech last month about how North and South Viet Nam still manage to get along despite their differences. She didn’t even know that South Viet Nam was overrun and then absorbed by North Viet Nam in 1975. Of course this brilliant states person is on the Foreign Relations Committee.

Posted on September 4, 2010 at 3:55pmall she cares about is the commies won. they never want to talk about the millions who were slaughtered after we pulled out. all they ever see is big bad america stepping on another small country. they never count the innocent people killed unless its us who happen to kill them while trying to kill or capture bad guys. its ok if some hugo chaves murders his rivals so he can inslave his people as long as he says hes helping the poor. these people are a danger to the world not just our country. we cannot sit back and let this happen. we must put these people in jail. they are a cancer to this great nation and the world.

Posted on September 4, 2010 at 1:10pmShe has a point. Perhaps ALL Atlantic storms should have African names as they most all originate off the west coast of Africa.

Posted on September 4, 2010 at 1:09pmJust imagine the outrage if a number of storms had names like, Janeka, Latoria, Takira, or after guys with names like, Jimarcus, or Kadema, and one of them turned out to be the storm of the century. Then you’d hear screaming in the streets about being racist to name God awful storms aster poor innocent black people.
Those who cry racism are the racist 9 times out of 10.
Those who stand for nothing fall for anything.

Posted on September 10, 2010 at 7:13pmImagine what would have been said if Katrina had been named LaToya? It’s a scary shame that you come to expect these kinds of stupid comments and concerns from our illustrious elected (again and again and again) representatives. It’s a scary shame that we hear these stupid comments and concerns and just shrug it off. Good Lord!

Posted on September 4, 2010 at 11:45amhow, exactly does one define what is a ‘white’ name vs a ‘black’ name. I know black people with the name Earl (James Earl Jones) Greg, Jeff, Erica, Cheryl.. I also know white people with the same names….
Report Post »I know white people with the name Porsche, Vanya, and Joell…these names are not traditional, but who‘s to say if they ’belong’ to white people or black peopel… Please, don’t we have some more important things to worry about. Let’s not play the we vs them game… we are ALL americans…

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 8:28amSaneromeo – we can‘t name them Hurricane 27 and such because then the politicians can’t use them as tools of fear as effectively..
Report Post »“the destruction of Huricane 13” just isn’t as emotional to people as “Hurricane Katrina”
Think about it.. how many times during the past election was “Katrina” brought up to invoke emotions of fear and abandonment followed by promises of “change” and “never again”

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. (As an added bonus, nobody sober can pronounce those names anyway.)

Posted on September 4, 2010 at 11:11amOff subject from names of hurricanes. maxine waters is a traitor to the Constitution of the United States. How these people are allowed to make decisions that will effect our childrens lives is beyond me. Oh, she is also a racist. She hates white people with a passion, as she has demonstrated so many times.

Posted on September 4, 2010 at 11:10amOh for goodness sake we actually elect and PAY people like Sheila Jackson Lee? This is a prime example of the cluelessness of those who vote these folks into office. I am beginning to believe all voters should have to take a test before voting to ensure they even know who or what they are voting for!

Posted on September 4, 2010 at 12:23pmI agree 100%. This would, unfortunately, have a disproportionate impact on blacks, leaving them with two options: 1) Work toward higher literacy rates in an effort to earn the vote and participate in self-government. 2) Squeel ‘racism’ once they were done whining about hurricane names. Which way would they go?
