Hustler Fined $14k for Not Using Condoms in Porn Videos

LOS ANGELES (AP) — California workplace safety officials have fined Larry Flynt’s Hustler Video and another porn producer for not using condoms on set to protect sex performers from exposure to disease.

The Division of Occupational Safety and Health citation obtained Wednesday says Hustler Video faces $14,175 in fines for three violations, including failure to provide condoms or other protective equipment. Forsaken Pictures faces $12,150 in fines.

Cal/OSHA spokeswoman Erika Monterroza says the state has a responsibility to protect all its workers, even in difficult to track industries such as pornography.

Hustler’s citation stems from a Sept. 14 inspection of a jobs site in response to a complaint from the AIDS Healthcare Foundation.

A telephone message left at Hustler was not immediately returned. Contact information for Forsaken could not be immediately located.

All joking aside, this is a huge industry that makes billions and billions of dollars a year and almost all production is in California. This 25 grand could cost the state hundreds of millions.

Folks, they‘re making the point that it’s none of the government’s business to get into things like this. Now the government can tell you that you have to have sex with a condom? I mean this is ridiculous.

Well, it is a workplace, and there ARE health hazards. But don’t the participants know of the risks themselves? I mean, how are they going to have a splash ending with a condom on?

Show, the health hazards have been mitigated for a long time (decades?) by mandatory STD testing. I think there was this one guy once that got AIDS, and that was a large story, due to the impressive track record.

Shame they’d have to reset the “WE’VE GONE 3659 DAYS WITHOUT AN STD” sign though.

I‘m sure there’s a union for these folks….probably something like the United Order of Adult Film Performers. $14K in fines for the omission of a piece critical safety equipment? That is truly a slap on the wrist…I wonder if the evil oil companies, evil mining industries, evil loggers, or evil steel producers could get off (ahem!) light for omitting critical worker safety equipment? I doubt it very much.

I don’t agree with pornography but I do disagree about it being something the government should control. Why would anyone need to pay the government for harming themselves? Oh maybe now that we have Obamacare we need to protect the tax payer against bad behavior??? See how it works folks? Next your cigarette or not wearing a helmet (on your real head) or eating the wrong food? Giving the government the control over healthcare will give them the right to seperate you from your money if your do not comply:) LIMITED GOVERNMENT GETS RID OF THESE PROBLEMS.

Let me see……why doesn’t a pornographer care about his employees enough to protect them from disease? Does anyone else see the absurdity of that question? Attributing a moral or social conscience to an evil purveyor of filth makes no sense and is frankly just asinine. Larry Flynt has wrapped himself in the 1st amendment protection of what he does. He cares not for anything but making a buck. I wonder if he offers his employees a 401k plan and maybe medical and dental too. Maybe he should offer childcare so while mom is “working” someone can care for the kids?
      Dear Lord, forgive us.

Yes it is newsworthy. The Unions are out there saying we need force for work place protection and safety, and we have OSHA in everyone’s business as well. If this is going to be a profession then it can’t be exempt either! This is lunacy you get when government tries to impose personal responsibility for individuals, and why personal responsibility must be in place first for a free society.
Add to that and a decline in morals always kills personal responsibility and then demands a nanny government to protect us from ourselves, so yes this is newsworthy because it illustrates how absurd this industry is, and the notion of government imposed personal responsibility.

Not to mention this promotes a liberal, collectivist goal to destroy the family with the promiscuity and depravity of pornography…
