‘I Am Innocent’: Sandusky Tells Bob Costas ‘I Shouldn’t Have Showered With Those Kids’ (Updated With Audio)

NEW YORK  — Former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky is telling NBC that he is innocent of child sex abuse charges that shocked the sports world and resulted in the firing of coach Joe Paterno.

In a telephone interview with Bob Costas for NBC News’ “Rock Center,” airing Monday night, Sandusky also denies accusations that he is a pedophile.

Sandusky, who founded a charity for disadvantaged youth, acknowledges that he showered with some boys after workouts and shouldn’t have done so.

Paterno was fired last Wednesday for failing to do enough about a 2002 report alleging that Sandusky raped a young boy in the Penn State football showers.

The Associated Press has made several efforts to reach Sandusky by phone and through his attorney, but messages haven’t been returned.

DEVELOPING: Former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky admitted to showering and horsing around with young boys but said he is not a pedophile in an exclusive interview with Bob Costas for NBC News’ Rock Center airing tonight at 10 pm/9 CT.

“I say that I am innocent of those charges,” said Sandusky in a phone interview with Costas.

When asked by Costas, “Are you a pedophile,“ Sandusky responded ”No.”

Joe Paterno’s one time defensive coordinator was charged earlier this month with 40 counts of sexually abusing eight boys. He is currently free on a $100,000 bond and has denied any wrongdoing. The allegations date back to 1994, according to a grand jury report. A grand jury report detailed claims of alleged sexual encounters with young boys in Sandusky’s home, hotels and Penn State locker rooms.

“I could say that I have done some of those things. I have horsed around with kids I have showered after workouts. I have hugged them and I have touched their legs without intent of sexual contact,” said Sandusky.

When pressed by Costas about what Sandusky was willing to concede that he’d done was wrong, Sandusky said, “I shouldn’t have showered with those kids.”

    This interview would be funny if it wasn’t about such heinous crimes. Are you a pedaphile? Answer…No. What do you expect him to say, “Yes Bob I can’t help myself, just have to slip the salami to teenage boys”. The fact the he was stupid enough to admit showering with the boys says it all. He is a predator and deserves to be strung up and castrated while still alive. THe fact that the University covered this up is an atrocity. Anybody that had any information about this should be fired from their positions.

    After dealing with this issue on a personal level,i’m telling you the truma never ever goes away. It haunts you every single day,in decision making,relationships,everyday life. An the predaters are Everywhere in this permissive society. This is not something these sob’s will stop. Lock them up,put away the key,forget the psycho babble crap and send a message that We as a society will no longer condone these atrocities against our children….Personally-I’d castrate them,string them up,set an example to the rest of them. THEN go after the SOB’s who traffic these children across state lines,countries,promising futures they’ll never realize. Then agressively follow the $-where ever it leads. They‘re in Gov’t,State Gov’ts,on the local level,you name it -they’re there. there’s a book out there-I can’t find it yet in the house,but pretty sure it’s Children of the Night-written by a nun. Read it,it’ll outrage you,and every word is true. I KNOW.

      It has been 37 yrs since I was raped by a 64 yr old man. Through God and the twelves steps of Alcoholics Anonymous I have a relatively good mental health.

      I have STERN views on those who are convicted of boinking ANYBODY without consent.

      This man deserves a fair trial; not a trial in the press.

      it does never go away. he needs to be chemically castrated when convicted and all of his wealth sold to pay for these boys counseling. it takes a lifetime of being haunted by these things and never fully “recovering” stories like this cause flashbacks and regression where stability was seen before. I am tired of them never getting tough sentences and never having to pay, financially, for destroying a life that will take a long time to rebuild and money for counseling

    Living on the back side of the Moon is the only excuse he could give for not knowing Showering with 10 year olds is totally, completely, without a doubt the dumbest thing any grown Man would do.
    With that said he weighed the Rewards vs the Costs of committing such an act and asked the young boy to pick up the soap he just dropped on the shower floor.

    Wait til they lock you up. You’re going to look at “showering” in a different light.
    You might want to watch the movie, Deliverance before you leave for prison.
    Or you might not want to.
    They are going show you how the boys felt…every day for the rest of your life.

      If convicted,,,,he will not be able to live in general population. Convicts will severely beat him down or kill him (as often as they can.) If he gets a life sentence,,,,he will be in lockdown.

      Rest of his life in lockdown (5 hours a week out on rec yard and rest of the time in his concrete room.) But not before the ‘Warden determines he cannot live in ’general population.’

      Good,,,but he still wont get what he deserves until he meets his maker.

    Children are much more likely to be abused if not raised by both a biological mother and a biological father. It is why Marxists want to destroy the natural family—which is the best protection for children.

    The Franklin Cover-up did the same thing-—besides kidnapping boys on paper routes, they used boys at orphanages, and from broken families. Note: boys are more likely to be abused than girls. For every boy raped-—10 go unreported….it may be even more than that.

    It was common for man/boy sex prior to the spread of Christianity….of course, where pederasty is rampant—the middle east—there was no religion who frowned on man/boy sex. It is why our government is forcing our military to look the other way when they see the Afghani’s sodomizing all the boys. It is disgusting….we should destroy that culture, not build it up. Islam is sick.

    BUT we have a marxist in chief who is removing “no” sodomy in the military—to corrupt the men and kick out any Christians that are left. After all, he is also a sodomite according to Larry Sinclair and was probably molested as a boy by his “mentor” the pedophile—Frank Marshall Davis.

    Homosexuality is a learned lifestyle and you need to groom boys when they are young (like in Afghanistan) and forming their sexual identities to pervert them.
