‘I Bet He Has More Than One Ascot’: Beck Parodies Intentional Misreporting by Mainstream Media

To quote Glennbeck.com, “You just know things are too good when Glenn busts out the pipe.”
Glenn Beck busted out a pipe and smoking jacket today to mock the recent spate of misreporting from MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell – or as Beck called her, “Mrs. Alan Greenspan.” In tones of dripping sarcasm interspersed with genuine outrage, Beck savaged Mitchell both for her hypocritical attacks on Mitt Romney’s wealth, and for the blatantly dishonest bit of selective editing the network had done. For those of you who don’t recall this most recent bit of media malfeasance, here’s the Blaze’s Erica Ritz explaining:
In the MSNBC clip, Romney is shown discussing Wawa’s convenience stores like he has never been to one before (presumably because he is “too good” for such an establishment).
Introduced by Andrea Mitchell saying: “I get the feeling–take a look at this– that Mitt Romney has not been to too many Wawa’s along the roadside in Pennsylvania,” Romney says: “I was at Wawa’s, I wanted to order a sandwich. You press the little touch tone keypad, alright, you just touch that, and you know, the sandwich comes at you, touch this, touch this, touch this, go pay the cashier, there’s your sandwich. It’s amazing.”
Momentarily speechless, Mitchell repeats, “It’s amazing,” as her guest breaks into sharp laughter.
Too bad the clip was taken wildly out of context.
In reality, Romney was illustrating the difference between private and public sector efficiency. After telling a story where his friend had to fill out a 33-page form twice to complete a change of address with the government, Romney holds up touch-tone sandwich-ordering as an example of private sector efficiency– not as a marvel of how the “common” man lives.
Ritz also included the clip MSNBC used, along with the full clip – in context – both of which can be seen below. MSNBC’s version:

As you can see, the MSNBC clip completely ignores the comparison Romney was trying to draw – a fact that was apparently lost on Mitchell, even after other people pointed it out. That, or she didn’t care, considering that she still cut out the first part of the analogy when showing the “full” clip on MSNBC today, and didn’t say anything that could be remotely construed as an apology. Beck, quite understandably, had had just about enough of this kind of snobbery masked as populism. His blistering mockery can be seen below in full below:
“Romney was not talking about Wawa’s ordering system by itself,” Beck explained, infusing every syllable with the deepest sarcasm. “And by the way, it is fantastic, it’s a fantastic ordering system. Not many other places or convenience stores have it. He was making a larger point about the private sector versus the public sector.”
“I don‘t care if you’re rich. God bless you if you’re rich. I don‘t care if you’re poor. I don‘t care if you’re middle income,” Beck finished off. “How about as a nation we stop having a problem with the rich? How about we start directing that time and that anger toward hypocrites, the stupid, and people who intentionally manipulate stories for political power, Mrs. Greenspan?“

The people can’t give themselves rights because that would make as much sense as someone saying ” I’m giving myself a present today”. You can’t give anything to yourself. You can only acquire or receive from another source. Rights have to be given down from a higher authority to all recipients so that only the higher authority has the ability to remove those rights. Government is not an authority higher then the people because it is formed by the people. In the end there is only one source of authority higher then a state of government made by people and that is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Funny how people clinging to the 10 commandments don’t end up in jail or grievously lie like this lady who likely had the information handed to her like a welfare check. If she had worked for her information maybe she would have worked hard enough and taken enough pride in her job to check the facts. When she cam back to correct her “my bad” moment she wasn’t honest enough to play both examples Mitt used and had enough honor, respect and virtue to ask forgiveness. Very Godless. He was clear in showing that a few“elite” and “richest” amongst us are telling America what is fair and that the rich should pay their fair share as they are all in Obama’s pocket. Beck is in stark contrast to this as he shows how some of our celebrities out there are out of touch.
I get it, you should only have a voice of reason if you are struggling and poor….stupid. I guess from your approach all rich people are out of touch regardless of their views. Again…stupid. Believe it or not, but some people who are rich AND on television actually deserve to be there by merit and substance. Beck left Fox as he had options to establish his own identity but you choose to look at who financed his show. Maybe you liberals can understand that banks want a return on their investment so they find what they would call “in demand” opportunities to invest in to create wealth. I know, stupid banks are trying to make money…..what were they thinking.

Progressivism is poison. Look at the brain damage that it has caused to our media. Look at the damage that it has caused to our freedom, rights, economy and educational institutions.
The people affected cannot even see the symptoms, but it’s even worse than that. They actually see it as a cure. They see an “alternative to freedom” as a cure to hardships instead of a primary cause of hardships.
They can no longer understand that government exists to protect our rights and property.
The fact that we have repeated news stories about people calling the police because they are not happy with their fast food or sandwich order clearly demonstrates that people do not know what government is for. They need the nanny state to handle consmer interaction for them. Will they next expect the fire department to clean out their ash tray?
These people are clearly not Republicans or Libertarians, if you get my point.

Seeing as I don’t believe in God he/she has not bestowed me with any freedoms. HOWEVER the founding fathers stated that “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”. And as far as I can see, my mother and my father are my creators and I have those rights. There is no mention of God.
Yes I have shame and yes I have decency, but I will not allow you or anyone else to force your view or version of “shame and decency” on me and hopefully anyone else.
