Obama Dismisses OPSEC, Special Operations Speaks Attacks: I Dont Take These Folks Too Seriously

President Obama said Monday he isn’t taking two groups of military veterans currently running campaign ads against him “too seriously.”

Last week, the Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund and Special Operations Speaks launched anti-Obama campaigns, criticizing the president for his handling of national security, intelligence leaks and taking too much responsibility for killing Osama bin Laden. The groups — both founded by ex-Navy SEALs — are political action committees made up of military veterans.

President Obama is writing off the attacks as partisan and unfounded.

“I don’t take these folks too seriously. One of their members is a ‘birther’ who denies I was born here, despite evidence to the contrary,” Obama told The Virginian-Pilot. “You’ve got another who was a tea party candidate in a recent election.”

“This kind of stuff springs up before election time,” Obama added.

Obama does have a point, at least on the background of the groups’ founders.

Last week, ex-Navy SEAL Larry Bailey, founder of Special Operations Speaks, told Foreign Policy magazine: “I have to admit that I’m a birther.”

Former Navy SEAL Scott Taylor, founder of OPSEC, is a former Republican candidate for office. To be sure, ones party affiliation and/or personal beliefs does not automatically mean there are ulterior motives at play.

Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) found himself a target of a group of military veterans during his presidential bid in 2004, Politico reports. Earlier this week, he told supporters in a mass email: “I honor and appreciate the service of my fellow veterans, but a false attack is a false attack — no matter who’s making it,” Kerry wrote.

    Obama did not swear into our Presidency to support and defend any Constitution but this one. Americans cannot help the situation of the world and can only take care of our own, but we all try to help others when we can. This is not Obamas wealth he is giving away to “even the playing field” of the world. The same crooks who keep the people poor in other countries are the ones who will be getting the riches and resources of America. Let Obama give his money to support the world. This is not something America is able or willing to take on. Get Obama out and into prison.

      As a Veteran having served tours in Iraq as well as Afghanistan I am sitting here dazed reading this article. Obama hates everything about this country. “Hate” was a foreign concept to me until I joined the Army. Being “downrange” will profoundly alter a person. To see the faces of individuals that hate this country on the battlefield is one thing, one thing I couldn’t stand. I must say eliminating the enemy and helping the people that wanted it is the most gratifying experience one can witness. To have our POTUS hate our country is the most profound, most repulsive notion possible. I often pause and attempt to understand it, it’s absolutely astounding. I don’t want to hate anymore. Hate will destroy a person right down to their most inner being. However, every single time I see Obama I am completely consumed with an immense amount of rage that I haven’t experienced since my last deployment. It is a feeling that is inconceivable. When will this ever change? When will we get our country back? How can the people that defend Obama and his agenda morally do so? I feel as if Obama doesn’t care about our Troops. Was our sacrifice not appreciated by Obama? Was the death of three of my best friends, one of which I grew up with (we enlisted on the buddy program) and I witnessed his death—was that in vain? Is the disfigurement of my right leg frowned upon by Obama? Every day that you occupy the oval office is a slap in the face to every American and every Veteran.

They think it‘s because you didn’t want to make a mistake. I think it‘s because you’re on Osama’s side/always have been/ and didn’t want to make that move against your MB buddy. ONE day the world will know.       Thank you for your service. The majority of Americans Love you for what you did for our Country.Just remember we are out here, and we care.. This Administration is self-destructing. Every day I feel like the hand of God is present. Everything they are doing is backfiring on them. They seem more Sophmoric every time they come out in public. They all sound like pre-adolescents trying to get out of trouble. It actually is quite entertaining if you step back and really listen to them. Special Forces participants are heros to most of us, and most Americans honor them as such. This is just another event to diminish the worth in the eyes of America of our current Administration. Americans as a whole are not wimps. It just so happened that the wimps had the microphone for the last three years. They have lost power, and influence. There is hope for the future, and not the false hope that was offered to America three years ago. Look at the comments on these stories. Most of the Conservative comments; albeit not all, are at least somwhat intellectual. The Liberal comments, for the most part, are infantile, and angry. They are in a panic as they lose their grip. Have faith that we are going to become a reasonable, productive society once again because it really does appear that the pendulum is swinging back.

      I am a Veteran also and Obama sickens me, however, I am afraid of the general election with Mitt Romney. I truly do not think he will defeat Obama as there are many, many people that are so asleep to what is really going on. I have talked to Democrats all over and they all tell me that Romney makes them nervous. They say they will hold their nose and vote for Obama. On the flip side, Republicans seem to be asleep also, thinking that Romney will win by a landslide. It saddens me that the GOP pushed for someone as left leaning as Romney to be the nominee. Now I know that a lot of you are leary about Ron Paul, but he would actually get these Bluedog Democrat votes. A lot of Liberty voters are not going to vote for Romney, but would vote for Paul. If Romney is nominated, the youth that are so fervent for Paul will stay home, but will go out of their way to vote for Paul. All of you have said you would vote for anyone but Obama. These are cold hard facts that should not be discounted. It is not too late to nominate a Republican that would have no problem kicking the Marxist out. The delegates are unbound and can vote their conscience. Even Palins grassroots are sending pamphlets to delegates to ask them to vote for her. Anything is going to be possible this year. If we do not get together, Obama will get four more. I am sorry that Romney’s campaign killed their chance at Paul supporters, but they did by violating rules and federal laws. He does not have a chance.

      I, as you, was diappointed that Romney got the nomination; however, I am changing my opinion. He has been surprising in recent times. I am starting to change my opinion of him while keeping one eye open to watch for dissapointment. It is hard to trust anyone in Politics these days, but the alternative is the end of America as we know it. More Americans are waking up every day. The true Liberals are not worth wasting breath on as they are blind to the realities around them. The Paul supporters cannot be stupid enough to sit out the election, or vote for Obama. I have more faith in them than that. I believe there is evidence for optimism.

      dwilco77, I blog on Paul sites everyday. I have a lot of Democrat friends as I live in a Democrat (Blue) state. Most of my friends are not what I consider liberals, even though they are registered Democrats. They are Blue Dog Democrats and believe in individual liberty, they just believe in more welfare than people like you and I. I have had confrontations with liberals, they are out there completely, and believe in government controlling everything. I believe the Bluedogs out number the liberals, but I am telling you, they will not vote for Romney. Paul supporters are so up in arms at the Obama style politics waged against them by the Romney campaign. I believe it is shameful the way his campaign worked with the establishment in the primary. I truly believe that voter fraud was rampant. Romney won Nevadas straw poll? My son lives in the most populated area of Nevada, in Pahrump, close to Vegas. I visited him there and drove all over Pahrump and Vegas. Not one Romney sign, but hundreds upon hundreds of Paul signs. I talked to a lot of people there. None for Romney, a few for Gingrich, but most were for Paul. Now how did Romney pull that one off? Then, when Paul won the delegates, Romney and the GOP formed a shadow party! Unbelievable. So do not think Paul supporters are going to come around, as they are not.They will write in Paul or vote for Johnson, you watch. Where it will hurt Romney is in the toss up states needed. End of Romney. Sorry, just the cold hard facts.

      Thatnks for serving. I’m a veteran too, from the cold war. The biggest thing I had to fight with this president, my commander in chief, was the fact that someone would run for President that hated this country and wanted to change it. I hearda good analogy: Try that on your fiancee, I love you but I want to change everything about you, and see how far you get.

      As to the SEALS and other veterans, I’m glad he made this statement (Oblama), because he just ticked off another segment of the population. I know military people who WERE Democrat. Most have gone Libertarian, but they sure as HECK ain’t voting for Oblamer.

      Thanks for standing on the wall. They hate you and your country because they’ve been taught hate much longer then you and me. A Marine aircrewman shared with me a couple of days ago that when he was recently in Pakistan for flood relief there, he asked a Paki guard whos job it was to protect our troops as they unloaded cargo what he tough of America. He said we hate you and America and if it was not my job to protect you, I’d kill you! Thats a very unthankful sentiment considering the Marine, our government is standing there delivering food, water and shelter, medical supplies for his brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, children. Its not you brother! Its them! We need to come home soon.

      If you ask any of the Navy Seals who were involved in the raid, they would absolutely say that they could not have proceeded with the operation to kill Osama bin Laden without the order from Pres. Obama. If the operation had gone wrong, all of the failure would have been on the President. So what’s wrong with Pres. Obama claiming some of the success of the operation. He has many, many times given loads of credit for the success to the Navy Seals, but without his command, it would have never taken place, and he deserves much of the credit for making the call. Conservatives just don’t want to give Pres. Obama any credit for anything good he has done, and everyone else can see it for what it is – disrespect and hatred for the President and anyone who doesn’t think like they do. Your hate is showing, Blazers, and it isn’t good for America.

      I see it a different way. I have served for 25 years, and spent a good number of years in special operations. I took part in the hunt for Noreaga.

      In all my years, I have never seen a president that takes the credit for such an operation, like Obama does. The kicker, is the way the MSM slobbers all over him, giving him credit for what our military did.

      Success was handed to Obama on a silver platter. He did not plan the raid, and there was nothing he did as the President that let to the info of where Osama was hiding. Obama stepped into something that had already gone on for ten years. It takes a while to do man hunts like this. Our military and CIA found him, Obama only gave the thumbs up to go get him. Nothing more. To not have given the thumbs up, would have been stupid. Obama did not do anything special that any other president would have done.

      Use as a comparison Eric Rudolph. He did his bombings during the Clinton years. Law enforcement went after him at the federal, state, and local level. He was not captured until Bush was president. Did you hear the media declare “hail Bush, he got Rudolph?” No, and they need not do the same with Obama.

      Once again, had he not given the order, he would have looked like an idiot. It was the only logical choice, and there was nothing courageous about what Obama did. it is not like he has some prior military experience, or expertise in the matter. He was a community organizer.

      False attack? where? The ads run in 2004 against Kerry were never proven to be false. And what the former Special Ops people are saying now, where is that false? Who leaked sensitive information to the press about the Osama operation and other activities? Not the Republicans. One of the key to motivations is asking the question on who benefits. Since Obama benefits from the leaks its obvious the leaks came from his side. The guy is a thug and will always be a thug.

      I guess I am a birther also…Obama has yet to prove his birth in Hawaii as his photo opted bc was found to be fraudulent and the fact that he will not release his college, school, selected service registration information, and his passports from the 80′s. Would like for him to do that, but the fact reminds us all that he has something to hide….probably that he is a citizen of Indonesia as his stepfather adoted him and he never bothered to change his citizenship before he became president and he is registered as a foreign student, he would be shown as a foreigner on his passports, and therefore no selective service card is available. In Obama’s own words “The only people who wil not disclose the truth, are people with something to hide.” What is he hiding?

      Ranger – I truly appreciate your willingness to calmly and intelligently debate this and other topics here on The Blaze. It is refreshing and is seen so infrequently on this site.

      While I understand where you are coming from, and I appreciate your service to our Country (I have never served in the armed forces), I still bristle at the uninformed notion that Pres. Obama just mosied in one day and casually made the call to kill bin Laden. From all accounts that I have read, he was very, very involved in this operation for a very long time. And, he would have been the one who would have taken the fall if it had gone wrong. So, there is nothing wrong with him taking some credit. He has always given most of the credit to the Navy Seals, and rightly so. And, he has given much of the credit to Pres. Bush for his part. But why does the right wing media always forget to mention that part when reporting on this story. They are always in such a rush to portray our President as a egomaniac, which is quite a laugh coming off of the Bush years.

      What makes Barack so worthless is that he has to keep tooting his horn and how pathetic does that make Hollywood for rushing out a “based on a true story but changed it to make Obonehead look good” movie in his support.

      I read ALL your replies and I really have learned to look at these things from a different perspective in the last few years. I am a Navy veteran and I respect the military..but If I am honest I do not think our wars and occupations are noble. I believe they lack purpose and no longer have a clear cut mission. I believe our government is corrupt to the core–so I no longer beleiev the fairy tale that our country is the ONLY country with noble goals and sophistications. This has been our governments brainwashing us. When I was a kid I was told how the Russians government only told them what they wanted them to hear. How is ours any better? This is what we are told. Do not take my honesty for treason. I LOVE this country (land and people-NOT government). I miss the free country I believed we once had
      I‘m sorry but I really woke up after seeing Aaron Russo’s movie talking about the “war on terror”. “War on terror” is so ridiculous…ANYTHING can be called terror…so it is a continuous war against the American people. Just like they can call anything they want a “hate crime” which comes with extra punishments. The “war on terror” is nothing more than an excuse for occupying, controlling, and demonizing other countries AND the American people.

      I agree with BlackyB. We need to take care of our own and quit trying to take care of everyone else. However, I am concerned about the genacide in Syria. I will vote for Romney and I am very sorry that our people voted in Obama last time. He doesn’t think the way an American thinks. “Out with Obama”. In Califonria we have another stupid give away coming up – We are funding a rail line to Las Vegas. Where will the people get the money to go there? — Maybe the government?

      Does anybody recall the IDIOTIC statement he made right after his inauguration (what a sorry day THAT was for America!) when he said that soldiers wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan should pay for their own medical care. After all, and these are his EXACT WORDS, “They knew what they were getting into when they signed up.”

      Needless to say, even his media lapdogs recognized what a breathtakingly STUPID comment that was and quickly buried it, never to see the light of day again, but I NEVER forgot hearing it OUT OF HIS OWN MOUTH, because it certainly confirmed my fears of what an amoral, radical POS had just moved into the White House.     ‘I Don’t Take These Folks Too Seriously’

    Seals they are professional soldiers. Many soldier shave degrees nowadays. By the time they are E7 they have a degree. Most officer have a post graduate degree as well. The post graduate degrees might not be Juris Doctorate like our precious politicians but they are in important subjects.

    Seals are better than many politicians. They cannot lie about reality. If they do & they plan according to a lying world view they die.

    Actually come to think of it they are better than Obama or most college grads. They have a college diploma like any other college grad & they have a trade like skilled blue collar labor.

    The Pentagon has started running war games/simulation of economic warfare. In the 1st simulation we lost. If the simulations are anywhere near realistic that means the Pentagon has or employes people with degrees in finance or economics. I dare say they know more about the economy than Barack the Magic Communists who is going to use Cloward & Piven strategies & stolen elections to remake the U.S. into yet another failed communist experiment.

    Every one who retires from the military or gets outaofter their contract is up should be getting J.D. , MBAs finance or economics degrees. Then they should run for the seats of every RINO & Democrat in state or federal office.

      Walkabout, Did 21yrs, 5mo, 17days as a Marine and totally agree with you about higher education. Spent over half my time with Force Recon and can tell you first hand that the smartest ones didn’t go through OCS. Most of we SNCO’s had at least one degree and had no desire to jump to a comission. Some went Warrant Officer route. When I picked up Master Guns it was time to hang it up before my luck ran out.
      I figure eight tours into the Gulf that included Gulf War One and two floats, Panama in 89, Somalia in 92/93 and a few other friendly places, I’ve seen enough.
      Obama is a poor excuse for a man let alone a president. He has no clue the sacrifice these guys go through to be the best or the strain that it puts on the family.
      Obama thinks a bad day is when he plays golf in the rain!

It would put to rest the rumor that he was accepted into college as a foreign exchange student. I’m not a “birther,” but I believe the jury is still out.     I watched the video. Having spent 10 years in the USAF as an F-15 electronic warfare technician, I can say that OPSEC was taken very seriously under the Regan/Bush years. Obama is a joke of a commander. He disregards the safety of the special ops personnel and is only concerned about his politics. He may say otherwise, but his actions show he is a not competent to be Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States.

      As my Grandfather used to say:

      ” He’s gone WWWAAYYYAY YONDER, TOO FAR NOW”.

      I don’t imagine, AND RIGHTFULLY SO, this is NOT going to set well with the Seals.
      BUT – this is Standard Obama –
      Name a group of people he DOES take seriously or respect.

      And to think the hand writing was on the wall for all to see in 08. Was it moronism or the fact that there are too many kids dropping out of High School and can’t read.
      If this waste of human cell tissue gets even 45% of the vote in November, our country could be on a path that is unchangeable.
