‘I Feel Your Pain’ 2012 Edition: President Obama Tells College Students He Had a Lot of Tuition Debt Too

“Michelle and I we’ve been in your shoes,” President Obama told a gathering of college students at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill Tuesday.

“[W]e didn’t come from wealthy families,” the president added.

“When we graduated from college and law school, we had a mountain of debt. When we married, we got poor together. We added up our assets and there were no assets. And we added up our liabilities and there were a lot of liabilities basically in the form of student loans,” he said.

The crowd seemed to enjoy his speech — a lot.

“Now check this out,” the president said once the clapping and cheering subsided, “I’m the President of the United States…We only finished paying off our student loans about 8 years ago.”

He continued:

We paid more in student loans that we paid in our mortgage when we finally did buy a condo for the first 8 years of our marriage. We were paying more in student loans than we were paying for our mortgage. So we know what this is about.

And we were lucky to land good jobs with a steady income.

But we only finished paying off our student loans – check this out, alright? I’m the President of the United States. We only finished paying off our student loans about 8 years ago. That wasn’t that long ago. And that wasn’t easy especially because when we had Malia and Sasha, we were supposed to be saving up for their college educations and we’re still paying off our college education.

“So we have to make college more affordable for our young people,” the president added.

    …Wrong more Lies under this administration the Pell Grants have been dropped,these are for low income kids,,,no mention of this,he has to make up some kind of Lie to draw the young people,,,I Pray these young people see through the Lies.

      I’m a Tarheel fan,this has been all over the news here. My dad graduated from UNC, very liberal school. He was agrad of Med School in 1969 – I remember the protests,etc. These kids though it was so cool BHO came there, I think several fainted or crapped themselves. My dad is sick, this is the young people we have to look to. This is not good. BTW, Holden Thorpe, the Chancellor, is one of BHo’s Educators on Committee. Thorpe really pissed off alot of alumni by firing Butch Davis and taking away all his football wins, Davis didn’t do a damn thing. I emailed The a-hole Thorpe, said my family would never send another dime. And then I said, no matter what happens on that campus, he(Thorpe) is responsible.

      Didn’t BO say in an earlier speech that someone paid for his college and gave him a chance? Which is it? Did he borrow and pay for it by teaching Alinsky or did someone give him his chance? I paid for my own college working full time at $8 an hour and $1000 per class. It took me years to get out of debt just for borrowing for one year of classes?

    How is it that NO ONE can get to his records? I just wait for the day they are discovered. In the meantime, I don’t believe a word of what he says….
    I thought someone did show that on one of his tax returns he had no deduction for student loan interest or payment….anybody see that?

    Notice President Obama is only giving speeches in front of kids? I hope they remember every word he says. They remember every clap they clap when they are paying 85% of their earnings in taxes. Yes sir, those will be great memories when they write that check to the United States Treasury. The day they got to hear President Obama speak at their school and they believed all the lies and funny jokes, and quips. 85% tax and no hope in sight.

      The records have been scrubbed by the CIA, the FBI, the HS and the SS. What……did you think the new American Fuehrer would not have thought to cover his trail? Only a complete housecleaning and the removal of ALL or nearly all the Democrazis willl be able to uncover the truth. But…..

      He has 2/9ths of the Supreme Court locked up. With Ginsberg, call it one third. One more term will give the New American Fuehrer the complete control of the Court, the Exective and —God help us– the Legislative branches of Government, and a new Communist, Pro Moo-Slum government.

    How many years in college for both…
    Cost of tuition, room, board, books and lab fees for those who went to those schools.

    That tells you how much debt potential is even there.

    Obama quote “had a lot of tuition debt too”, but a good friend of mind named Bill Ayes took care of that debt for me. Therefore let me be perfectly clear, if I’m elected again I will assign every black American their own Bill Ayes to help pay the way.

    How about you show some school records? Financial aid records? Transcripts?

    I’m sure your friends could fake up some of these like they did the birth certificate.

    No they haven’t. They had / have jobs. They have not experienced unemployment, so lets make them really know how these college students feel and vote Obama and Michelle out of the WH. I can’t wait to send his administration packing, but I won’t say it will be a slam dunk until it is done.

    Of course he has never released his college records so we don’t really know if had student loans. The Ayers family paid for his graduate school and he was a quota addition at Harvard Law but, when did facts EVER get in the way of this guy telling a story? Never

      Exactly! Additionally, the first Exec Order (13489) he signed was to ammend a previous Exec Order which essentially seals all his records while he was in school. This guy is a total puppet. America has become a banana republic (no pun intended or inferred).

( Did his nose grow bigger yet ?? ) Wish the Secret Service , the FBI, and the DOJ could investigate . Talk about “deleted” information ! Might be a new defense for the oil spill guy : The Obama Rule : my emails were private information that was no American’s business so I decided to keep it ” secret.”

    You‘d think with Michelle’s $300,000.00 PLUS a year phony job at a Chicago hospital they could have paid off student debts sooner than that.

    But since NO ONE has ever seen BHO’s college transcripts from Occidental, Columbia or Harvard, I think he’s lying about ever having attended, unless he was there on a foreign student visa.
