We often hear elected officials attempt to galvanize the American people by delivering messages of “hope” and “change,” that critics on both sides of the aisle in turn disparage as simple campaign rhetoric that will inevitably fade away or go unaccounted for.

After making the ultimate sacrifice, Sgt. William Stacey’s words will not only provide some comfort to his family, but undoubtably live on as an inspiration to men and women who fight for the freedoms he held most dear and was willing to defend at all costs.

“My death did not change the world; it may be tough for you to justify its meaning at all,” Sgt. Stacey wrote in a letter he left to be sent to his parents if killed in the line of duty. “But there is greater meaning to it.”

Sgt. Stacey tragically died on January 31. He joined the Marines in January 2007 and had completed a total of five deployments. Sgt. Stacey was set to return home to Washington state after his final deployment in Afghanistan this spring.

KOMO reports that Sgt. Stacey was killed when an enemy bomb went off while the 23-year-old was on foot patrol in Afghanistan Tuesday.

“None of us who love him know how to measure the vastness of this pain,” his mother, Robin, said in an email to ABC News. “He is but one of a number of men and women who have risked and sometimes lost their lives in Afghanistan and Iraq, just as we are but one of thousands of families whose hearts are breaking today.”

Sgt. Stacey was the son of two teachers, who released their son’s letter with the 23-year-old’s obituary in his hometown Seattle Times. Sgt. Stacey’s stirring “in case of death” letter was found by his family Thursday, it reads:

“My death did not change the world; it may be tough for you to justify its meaning at all. But there is a greater meaning to it. Perhaps I did not change the world. Perhaps there is still injustice in the world. But there will be a child who will live because men left the security they enjoyed in their home country to come to his. And this child will learn in the new schools that have been built. He will walk his streets not worried about whether or not his leader’s henchmen are going to come and kidnap him. He will grow into a fine man who will pursue every opportunity his heart could desire. He will have the gift of freedom, which I have enjoyed for so long. If my life buys the safety of a child who will one day change this world, then I know that it was all worth it.

Semper Fidelis means always faithful. Always faithful to God, Country and Corps. Always faithful to the principles and beliefs that guided me into the service. And on that day in October when I placed my hand on a bible and swore to defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic, I meant it.”

      We all might not be part of the Corps (or know how to pronounce it) directly but we are all part of the corps – the body of America. We should all live by this motto, by the Warrior’s Creed, with Duty, Honor, and Courage.
      Those of us that haven’t served, have relatives the did and do, or can raise our children to serve. And while they serve in harm’s way every day…we MUST serve here at home. We must serve our God and our Country – not a political party.

    The way this country is going the service over there is a collossal waste of time . Those people over there are not civilized and will be killing each other forever. All you need to know is that the US is negotiating with the Taliban in Afganistan, to prove its all a very big waste of time.
    As ex military the disgraceful disregard of the constitution makes me think my service in the 80′s was also a waste of time..a dam shame to feel like that.

    When you read a letter like that from a young man like that, it sickens me to think of the people we have in congress, like Maxine Waters, Barney Franks, Pelosi, Reid, Obama, and all the other pure slugs we have allowed to run this great country into the ground, it makes me angry, angry at myself first, and then disgusted with the way we cannot seem to get decent people in charge. We the people need to get with our groups and really get the vote out this year, beat the liberals at their own game, and take the United States of America back!!!       Afghanistan is now a meat grinder for our troops. The door to the trap, Pakistan, has closed and our troops are trapped. Afghanistan is surrounded all our friends: Russia, China, Iran, and Pakistan. China recently gave Pakistan 40 fighters compliments of the Chinese people in exchange for a Navy Base on the Indian Ocean. Soon Pakistan will be able to stop the US from over flying their nation.       The military are just as much to blame. The Pentagon and the military academies all have plenty of time and resources, they should have all studied and known about the warlord Muhammad, Islam and Jihad war. So they are just as much at fault for not screaming from the rooftops that it was an insane and impossible idea to democratize societies already fallen to Islam. Sure, politicians can be craven enough to do such a stupid thing if they think it will help them politically, but our military leaders are supposed to know history, know warfare, and know our enemies, and there is no excuse for them allowing their soldiers to be sent into such a bizarre mission as democratizing Islam.

      The military does not have the right nor the legal authority to question their orders. It is the sole responsibility of the President and Congress (and through 3 degrees of seperation) the people who elected them to question and stand up and scream. The military does not have that option.

      Sure, in the end the military just follows orders but they are also there for advisory roles, especially the top generals. Our entire military structure, from the professors at the academies to the researchers at the Pentagon who are supposed to be doing scenarios for every possible situation including even Canada invading us, failed failed failed failed failed to make sure they knew about the warlord Muhammad and the war aims of Islam, now and back through history. And they had a DUTY to WARN our political leaders that democracy and Islam don’t mix and that given it is a religion they would fight to the end forever never giving in because their religion tells them that is how they get to heaven. And even now after wasting all this time, resources, lives and limbs THEY STILL HAVEN’T LEARNED THE LESSON! They are still promoting Muslims in our own military!

      Actually, a member of the military can refuse to obey an illegal order. The Manual of Courts-Martial states:

      “An order requiring the performance of a military duty or act may be inferred to be lawful and it is disobeyed at the peril of the subordinate. This inference does not apply to a patently illegal order, such as one that directs the commission of a crime.”

      Interestingly enough, an order to arrest the POTUS is illegal and to do so is treason.

      With your statement you clearly did not understand what he was saying. It is not ALL politicians, mostly democrats, Liberal, and RINO’s are there the problem wanting to sit around singing campfire songs. This will NOT happen until the very ENDS of TIME where there will be peace. Until then it take blood to make sure our freedoms and freedoms of man are not destroyed. Unless you TRULY served, not joined for college money, or to avoid jail. But joined because you felt a calling from your soul, the type of person that runs towards danger rather then away, and is willing to place his life on the line for the man next to him or a women in another country you have never met.     God will have to weigh those involved in these insane actions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sadly, tragically, our military, our country, did an evil thing creating Constitutions that are subservient to the evil Islam. In Iraq the Christians, who were there long before Satan created Islam, have had to run for their lives out of the country. Shame on the United States, shame on the U.S. and allied militaries, for failing to protect the non-Muslims of Iraq and Afghanistan, and shame on them for not dealing directly with the problem of Islam when they had the chance. Doing this sort of work, for Satan, will surely weigh very heavily against all those who participated. Perhaps for those just taking orders God will be able to counterbalance that they were doing something they thought was right for their country.

    He has more faith in those people than I do. I don’t believe those people rate one fallen Marine, let alone the many who have given up their lives or made sacrifices when we fight for what are their causes & not really ours. Freedom is not appreciated until it is earned & until those people quit enabling the insane elements they have over there to dominate their culture & society, they will continue to have unrest & genocide & murder & mayhem. You cannot hand a freed state to someone & expect them to appreciate your efforts on their behalf. Freedom is a choice & it is anything but free. In fact, I would go so far as to say it is a painstaking choice & pricey & very costly to maintain. Especially when there are still insane elements in the world. Innocents die when there is murder & mayhem, doesn’t have to be classified an all-out war. That is a part of the learning process that leads to the choice – Do they stop it, or continue on in the same vein. We do not understand those people on a very fundamental level & we cannot because we have not lived their lives & who would want to? Until they choose a different path for themselves, the murder & mayhem will continue as long as they are alive. If we truly want it to stop, then we should bomb the offenders back into the stone age & wait & see if they change their ways. I believe they are insane & I think there is something to the ‘sand sickness’ theory’. I cried for the Marine who still hoped for a brighter future.

      It is not our place to put a price on a human life, but as long as a person is alive they have the opportunity to change. As long as Islam is the ruling power there is no choice. However, the Bible says that there is no greater love than for a man to give his life for a friend. We can hope that our efforts show a way out of the oppression that these people are forced to bear. If they see our example and do not act on it they will pay an even greater price when we are all judged according to our actions.

      That last line said alot. Now it’s time to go after the Domestic enemies. Invade Washington next and instill freedom in that part of the world.

    Gives a fellow a bit of hope in the youth of America.

    I showed this story to my 7 year old – she is proud that he was able to die for his belief without regret. Thank God for Americans like him.

    Folks this was a man in the truest sense of the word.

    Simply knowing that he existed in this world gives me hope…….his letter is an inspiration to every one who will listen.

      COPATRIOTS, I agree. It makes me so sad to think that our brave military men and women have made such sacrifices for our country, and for us, yet some want to destroy Amnerica and are willing to throw away our freedom that our military has fought to defend. I don’t understand how anyone could do that. I do not want to believe that all of the lives lost, or the emotional and physical injuries our military men and women and their families have suffered have been in vain. This young man is a hero to me. I cried when I read his beautiful words. We have to remember that they were not forced to join, they joined willingly because they love their country and believe it is worth fighting for. We need to remember and honor them. Thank-you to all who have served, past and present. God Bless America.
