‘I Really Hope That America Will Forgive You’: Abused Chick-fil-A Attendant Speaks Out

When corporate executive and part-time professor Adam Smith chose to verbally assault one of the staff members at Chick-fil-A and videotape himself doing it, he probably never imagined that the story would end with him vilified as a bully and Rachel, the young woman he was attacking, held up as the picture of decorum under fire.

Yet that’s what happened, and it happened at least partially because Rachel herself actually is the picture of decorum, both under fire and not. For evidence, one need only look at this description of an interview she recently gave to Fox News’ Stuart Varney, in which she not only forgives Smith for his cruelty, but calls on the rest of the country to do so as well. Per Mediaite:

“I do forgive him. I think he realizes how bad it was to make that tape,” Elizabeth said after hearing a snippet of Smith’s subsequent apology video. “I feel sorry for him and his family, and for everything that has happened to him since.” Following the controversy over his video, Smith was promptly fired by his employer.

“I am glad I could be an example of how we should serve each other,” Elizabeth continued as Varney praised her for her grace given the tense situation Smith looked for. “It was hard — the attack about me and the company I work for — but I am glad I was prepared and the training and the upbringing I have had helped me get through that.”[...]

Finally, Varney asked her to directly address Smith via the camera. She obliged: “I forgive you. I really hope that America will forgive you and treat you with the respect that I chose to treat you with that day.”

    Smith is a pig – HE chose his hatred over his family’s welfare – his family is suffering because of his attack on Rachel. Hopefully Smith’s family does not suffer too much at his hand – and hopefully for THEM, Smith will soon fade away and be forgotten, like most hateful liberals.

      The funny part is, I bet he ends up in management for JCPenny. Or maybe Ben & Jerry’s.
      The worst judgement Mr Smith choose, was not when he verbally bullied Rachell. Nor when he thought it would be cute to video tape himself (afterall, he did go out of his way to make a protest, just like I go out of my way to eat at chick-fil-a).
      The bad judgement came after the fact when he thought he had done such a good job putting chick-fil-a in its place that he then posted the video.

What if their little protest actually worked and they caused Chick fil a to closes resturants across the country.That liberal pr*ck Adam would have bragged about how they brought down Chick fil a and the to he77 with all the employees it hurt.     I am wondering if I would hire someone like him. Probably not because he sounds like a trouble maker and likely has not learned anything. He is smoozing the public to get another job. The Democrats may hire him, the gay Democrats will demand allegience, in some couch casting manner, perhaps. I think he may have to write one of those books with 4 or 5 words on each page to show his 15 minutes of ill-begotten fame. What a screw ball. He needs to work, but he will just have to look a bit harder and longer for someone may take a chance on him if he is skilled in something besides trouble making.

    s father, and seen that distress and “deer in the headlight” eyes at the beginning of Smith’s rant, I would have tracked the idiot down and stomped a mud hole in him. And still would, he has to come back, eventually.
    NOBODY would do that to my little girl and not get a beat down. FACT!
    And what makes it worse is Smith has TWO LITTLE GIRLS, yet did this to another Father’s little girl?

    I do hope his family and children are OK, this guy just destroyed his life to make a point.

    But I did hear he has another catty person very upset because this guy took attention away from him….that’s right Perez Hilton has called for a gay Jihad against him, and Perez was quoted “He doesn’t have a gay in him, give me 5 minutes and he WILL have a gay in him” Although Mr Smith shouldn’t feel very threatened, it will be just a little gay in him.

    Maybe Mr Smith can revive his career in celebrity boxing, I hear Screech is looking for an opponent.

    On a side note, I did look up one of the books he wrote, I didn’t know he was an economist, and very well known.

      I fear I’d not have had nearly her decorum, but then she is young and innocent and I have had many more years of not so sheltered existence…I know how terrible one human can be to another..this man was shamefull, and had he not been fired from his job, I doubt he’d have been in the least remorseful. I feel his remorse came only when his employers fired him for his behavior, and I salute them for standing for values and some simblence of ideals. It could have just been to protect themselves, but in my job, had I done what he did, it would have been because I had no business representing the company who employees me because I do not represent what they want to put forth as their mission statement. I think this young lady is being very adult in accepting his apology considering why it was likely made. He thought he was cute, and he was an a=hole. Period.

      I know an 18 year old girl who was left at home while her folks had to attend an ill relative 400 miles away. The last words to the girl were: You are not to have anyone in the house while we are gone. The girl then took photos of herself and some male friends in their kitchen and posted them on facebook. She was upset because the parents check Facebook daily to see what she is up to. Duh!

    That young lady, and I DO mean LADY, deserves nothing but the very best life has to offer. She handled herself with decorum and grace when Smith was lambasting her, and she‘s now telling the country that she forgives him and also that he’s deserving of forgiveness by everyone.

    I would hope that others learn from her example.

    Kudos to her (and to her parents for rearing such a beautiful person – inside and out!).
