Sen. John McCain, whose pick of Sarah Palin as his 2008 running mate changed the U.S. political landscape, jokingly suggested Wednesday that Mitt Romney should select the former Alaska governor to be his No. 2 on the GOP presidential ticket.
“I think it should be Sarah Palin,“ McCain deadpanned before bursting into laughter on ”CBS This Morning.” The Arizona senator had been asked to weigh in on Palin’s suggestion Tuesday night that the presidential nominee should not be afraid to “go rogue” when picking a running mate.
Asked by the laughing hosts of whether he had spoken to Palin about it, McCain said, “No, I have not.”
“I think we have some very qualified candidate, obviously Marco Rubio is in the top tier, Chris Christie, there are a number of candidates we have out there, Bobby Jindal, Mitch Daniels,” McCain said. “We have a wealth of talent out there and I am sure that Mitt will make the right choice.”
“Obviously it’s a tough decision,” McCain added with another chuckle.

Posted on April 4, 2012 at 1:41pmMcCain…you have had your head kicked in too many times by commies. Just because you got your ass shot down, does not make you a hero. Surviving torture does not make you a hero either. That just makes it more likely that you were brainwashed. You should retire and fade away so you can retain what little respect people have for you left.

Posted on April 4, 2012 at 1:45pmMcBlaime still blames Palin for losing. What a loser he is. We go by turns and it wasn’t his.
If it wasn’t for Sarah he would have lost every state including his home state.

Posted on April 4, 2012 at 12:09pmMcCain is so out of the picture. A I want to fill Goldwater’s dream. He flip flops left to right to so much a even a seasoned sailor on a ship would puke. This fool has been in to long. He needs to retire and organize his Ted Kennedy photo collection. He is still one of the most favorite senators in Washington though, only unbiased person who will give BJ’s to anyone no matter what party you are in. McCain knows politics, just before election he reverses to the popular vote, then elected goes back to his personal agenda. Palin? What the heck is wrong with Sarah Palin? At least she had an agenda that was backed by her words. You are a Flim Flam Man. No parades for you McCain. And I hope they do not name anything in Arizona after you someday unless it is a Porta Pottie Company.

Posted on April 4, 2012 at 11:49amPolls prove, that until McCain inexplicably stepped into the media’s “erratic” narrative by trotting off to DC to “save the economy,” Sarah Palin had given the ticket a very real chance to win.
Its was Steve Schmidt’s disastrous decision to have Sen. John McCain suspend his campaign!
Sarah Palin was the only thing that kept McCain competitive. No one wanted to vote for him and no one was showing up to see him speak at campaign rallies. When Sarah Palin was brought on board, the enthusiasm immediately changed. People slapped McCain/Palin bumper stickers on their cars and planted signs in their yards. People were lining up around the block to see her speak.
Where McCain had struggled to fill an arena, lines outside events featuring Palin seemed miles long. She had awakened and rallied the conservative base.
After the bailout vote, support for the Republican ticket collapsed.
Some took razor blades and sliced their McCain-Palin bumper stickers so that only the “Palin” half remained (a few switched the names so that Palin was on top of the ticket).
Steve Schmidt changed the game – and Obama stuck to his strategy, casting himself as a beacon of stability in turbulent times. And he won.
After the election Sarah Palin rallied the conservative base yet again. She helped lead Republicans to the greatest congressional victory in several generations; she basically spearheaded the 2010 victory with her endorsements and rallies all over the country.

Posted on April 4, 2012 at 10:51amShe’d never do it. Being a pundit is much more profitable, and you don’t need to answer to voters… just ratings. Why give up a good gig for a thankless job?
Nevermind the fact that while it would get the conservative base firmly behind Romney, it would alienate independents. Palin will play her role from outside of political office, where she can do the most good for herself and the party.
Report Post »qpwillie
Posted on April 4, 2012 at 11:00amContrary to what the Republican establishment keeps saying, the Independents tend to vote for the more conservative candidate. That’s one of the reasons McCain lost and it will be one of the reasons Romney loses. Romney doesn‘t impress the Indies or the Conservatives so we’re in a bad shape.

Posted on April 4, 2012 at 10:42amThe only thing wrong with Palin is that she was truthful and she thought that she was really in the election to win. How silly of her (sarc.)? She also was under attack by every POS lib that had a pen or a microphone. They trashed her and she had no help from the mainstream republican party. No one stepped up to speak in her defense. Posted on April 4, 2012 at 10:32amForget Palin as vp as too many republicans don’t want her. Her base is the far right & she is too polarizing. Rubio has it all but Mitt might not pick him. There are many other good ones but Rubio would attract more groups of people to the ticket & he is also a tea party favorite. Tea party voters voted for Mitt in lg number last night. It‘s kind of bizarre as I didn’t see an article here that Mitt won the three states. CNN did say most democrats voted for Santorum & he also got only 4% less votes than Romney under the liberal & moderate voters. As Santorum is known as known as a true conservative, but actually isn’t, CNN felt there was a little mischief here by dems. The unions did sent e-mails to democrats to vote for Santorum as they don’t want to go against Mitt.

Posted on April 4, 2012 at 11:59amFor the past four years Sarah Palin has worked tirelessly to fight Obama’s policies and elect conservatives. (speeches, supporting candidates , fundraising, etc)
Sarah Palin was #1 in the fight .
She was (justly) credited with playing a central role after the Republicans swept last November .
Sarah Palin has repeatedly offered serious policy statements on issues such as health care, the Federal Reserve’s money printing in funding our federal deficit, crony capitalism, energy independence, etc)
She was the first Republican to make a high-profile critique of the Federal Reserve’s quantitative easing, though even earlier she had marked the collapsing value of the dollar as one of her issues.
There’s never been a candidate to get a more thorough examination by the media, the left, and the right. Sarah Palin has withstood the slings, barbs, bullets, and arrows that would have fallen a lesser person.

A. He’s not funny.

Posted on April 4, 2012 at 10:26amMcCain is a shocking disgrace. HOWEVER, considering how completely unappealing Romney is, choosing Sarah Palin (not that she would accept) as his VP (if, in fact, the GOP can force THEIR nominee on us) might be the only way that Romney could garner any enthusiasm at all. As McCain well knows, Sarah Palin was the only reason that many voted for him, and she was the only spark of life in his otherwise ridiculous, corpse of a campaign. Of course, in keeping with the current, liberal fantasies of the GOP establishment, liberal Romney would never be allowed to choose a VP who is any less liberal than he is.
