‘I Want Him to Win’: Sarah Palin Endorses Orrin Hatch Over Tea Party-Backed Challenger

Sarah Palin offered a surprise endorsement of Utah Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch Tuesday night, throwing her support behind the six-term incumbent rather than his primary opponent, who is backed by Tea Party groups.
“I want him to win,” the former Republican vice presidential nominee told Fox News host Greta Van Susteren. “He’s part of that 1 percent you hear about — not the 1 percent that’s mocked and criticized in the press lately, but the 1 percent of national politicians whom I believe should be reelected, sent to Congress because of his commitment to see a balanced budget in the United States of America.”
Calling him “Mr. Balanced Budget,“ Palin said Hatch ”wants to apply that common-sense economic principle of balanced budget, fiscal responsibility, and I want to see him reelected.”
Palin’s endorsement comes one month after Hatch failed to secure the Republican Party’s nomination and was forced into a June primary match-up against former state Sen. Dan Liljenquist.
Watch Palin’s Fox News appearance below. Hatch endorsement comes at the 7:30 mark.
As Twitchy pointed out, a number of Twitter users expressed disappointment in Palin’s choice.
“Sarah Palin’s endorsement of long-in-tooth RINO Orrin Hatch severely damages her credibility w #teaparty constitutional conservatives #tcot,” one user wrote.

Posted on May 23, 2012 at 1:06pmHonestly, could someone remind me why we liked her to begin with? She’s cute and all, but…..isn’t she just the female version of Romney? Maybe she’s a hair more conservative. ‘Course, I’m a libertarian, so she holds little appeal for me. But I bet she could give Romney a run for his money were she running. Pathetic. It’s just a popularity contest, based too much on looks rather than on freedom and the constitution, which are what made this country great. Social issues are important. But when the equation changes to include using force (i.e. laws) to make people do or not do what we think is right, you lose me. Persuasion, yes; force, no. In addition, let me quote the sage words of jedi master Yoda. “Wars not make one great.”
Yep. You guessed it. I’m a hanger-on for Ron Paul. But, go ahead. Argue for force over persuasion and freedom; for preemptive war over using force strictly for defense. (cue crickets)

I’m pretty sure I remember a little green guy leading an army of Clones in “Attack of the Really Stupid Name.” Perhaps you shouldn’t be getting your political advise from a hypocrite.
On topic, I’ve gradually lost a lot of respect for Palin since she first exploded into my life in an interview Glenn Beck did with her back on CNN. I almost voted for McCain because of her, but I just couldn’t pull the trigger. However, the more I’ve seen of her the less impressed I am. She’s not the biggest RINO out there, but a lot of her endorsements have fallen flat to me.

Posted on May 23, 2012 at 3:03pmSarah Palin has always been a tough-as-nails executive who understood her role as a servant for the people during her time as Mayor of Wasilla and as Governor; she took on the Republican establishment, big oil, corruption, ethics reform, and tax reform.
Report Post »She has cut spending, forward-funded education, and paved the way for job growth in her hometown.
Sarah Palin has fought to reduce spending and to enforce fiscal discipline as governor of Alaska. She has drastically reduced the growth of the state budget, which has helped to produce a record budget surplus.
Sarah Palin has shown herself willing to take on corruption, even when it occurs among her fellow Republicans.
As oil and gas commissioner, Sarah Palin called out the unethical practices of members of her own party.
As Governor, she sought to end the back room deals and improper relationships between oil companies and politicians.

Posted on May 23, 2012 at 3:05pmFor the past two years, Orrin has received a 100 percent rating from the American Conservative Union. He’s staunchly pro-life – receiving a 100 percent rating from the National Right To Life Committee. The NRA has given him an A+ rating. Club for Growth listed him as one of the most conservative U.S. Senators and gave him a 99 percent rating.
I join other conservatives like Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, and Tea Party leaders like Sal Russo in encouraging Utah voters to return Orrin Hatch to the U.S. Senate. Since Mark Levin has always got a way with words, read what he recently told Senator Hatch: “I feel that you would be… a terrific elder statesman to a lot of these other young guys who I’m going to be pushing in these other states.” I’m with Mark. That’s spot on.
We need Orrin’s conservative Reagan-like leadership – and our new crop of conservative senators Richard Mourdock, Deb Fischer, and Ted Cruz might need some friendly advice finding their way around the Senate.

Do you even understand why she resigned?
Upon her return to Alaska to resume her duties as Governor, Sarah Palin was plagued with one trumped up ethics charge after another which cost her staff dearly.
That entire campaign of BS lawsuits was meant to do nothing but hamstring the governor’s office and bankrupt Sarah Palin.
The endless ethics investigations were threatening to overshadow her legislative agenda. Attacks inside Alaska and largely invisible to the national media had paralyzed her administration.
She saw that if she stayed on as Governor it would continue to cost the state millions of dollars in wasted time and resources to defend against false and maliciously ethics complaints and doom it to gridlock.
Those frivolous lawsuits had already cost the state of AK close to $2 million; Sarah Palin had over $500,000 dollars in legal fees.
She promised to keep the frivolous anti-Palin law suits away from the Alaskan people and to be more effective on the stump ( supporting candidates , fundraising, etc)
Sarah Palin was truthful on both accounts!
For the past three years Sarah Palin has worked tirelessly to fight Obama’s policies and elect conservatives; she was #1 in the fight!

Well first off Glenn was talking about his support of the libertarian candidates and that is what we need.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FuEWxTvRGY From Glenn own words.
I dont think this race is over, Romney is losing delegates fast. Will Ron Paul get enough to stop Romney on the first ballot? Not sure, but I am still hoping. Ron Paul has already secured enough states to be on the ballot. The next step is to continue to take over the state conventions to secure enough delegates to keep Romney from winning first ballot. If that happens there is a very good chance Ron Paul will win the nomination because his supporters will not vote for Romney.
Honestly if he doesnt I think the country is lost because if the GOP is willing to vote for a guy as bad as Romney then there is little hope left.

Posted on May 23, 2012 at 12:13pmUsually I agree with Ms. Palin, but in this case–butt out! Hatch is one of the entitled, criminal elite politicians who helped create the economic mess in this country and is now scrambling to convince the state of Utah he’s going fix the mess “others” created. In addition–anyone who writes a song to T*ddy (the murderer) k*nnedy welcoming him back to “where he belongs” in the senate is so out of touch with the American people he does not deserve to be a reprenstative of the people. NO ONE belongs in the senate–you are elected as representatives not kings. I‘m totally disgusted with hatch and it will be good riddence when he’s voted out. I’ll be the first one in line on voting day to support the opposition,

Posted on May 23, 2012 at 1:14pmTell Mr. Liljenquist not to be too put out by hatch not debating him. Hatch feels so entitled he thinks he doesn’t have to answer to anyone and certainly not to the citizens of Utah. Think bob bennett. He too thought he was unbeatable.
