- Canton, OH officer Daniel Harless caught again on video threatening to kill citizens during a traffic stop.
- Latest video actually took place in July 2010.
- Some similarities to incident that surfaced last month, when he threatened to kill a concealed carry gun owner.
- Suspect says he was “freaked out.”
- Police chief is investigating both incidents.
“I’ll kill every one of you motherfu**ers!”
That’s how a second alleged video of now-infamous Canton, OH Cop Daniel Harless, who was caught on video released earlier this month threatening to kill a legal concealed carry gun owner, starts.
In the new video, an officer who looks and sounds like Harless, can be heard threatening a group of people during another traffic stop. The time stamp on the dash cam says the video is from July 29, 2010. In it, as in the last one, the officer is upset after finding a gun in the car. Unlike the last incident, however, it’s believed those involved in the 2010 did not have a permit for the weapon.
But while the details surrounding the incidents are not identical, it does appear Harless is starting to show a pattern of losing his temper when it comes to arrests, and even recycling some of the same death threats.
“You fu**ing move and I’ll shoot you in the head!” he can be heard yelling, which is similar to a line used in the first video.
“I’ll send you both to the grave!” he continues. “Do not fu**ing move a muscle or I’ll put you in the grave.”
“Now I’ll tell you what motherfu**er, I’ll shoot you in the face and go to sleep tonight.” Later he says, “you move and I will shoot you,“ and ”get the fu** out before I shoot you.”
You can watch the video below, but content WARNING — it contains extremely violent and unedited language:
The Canton Repository reports that the officer in both videos has been identified as Harless, and that the new video was released after it requested the 2010 footage.
The Repository has more details from the 2010 stop, including that the suspect in that date’s video pled guilty to a gun charge:
Harless pulled his weapon and ordered — in profanity laced language — the man and woman in the back seat not to move or he would shoot.
[...]
In his report on the incident, Harless wrote that the man looked as if he was trying to make a decision whether to pick up the gun or leave it alone, and that he yelled several orders to the man that he and the woman would be shot if she kept moving around.
The man and woman were eventually removed from the truck. The gun, a .25-caliber semi-automatic pistol, was found loaded with a round in the chamber, according to police reports.
The man with the gun at his feet pleaded guilty in March to improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a felony, and was placed on probation.
According to the Repository, no one filed a complaint with internal affairs. However, internal affairs has now opened up an investigation into the second incident.
WJW-TV interviewed one of the suspects in the 2010 video.
“I was freaked out,” Anthony Leone said. “The whole time he’s telling me he’s going to blow my brains out if I move.”
It’s unclear if Leone is the suspect who pled guilty in the incident:
The local police chief said the results of both investigations will be forwarded on at the appropriate time. But he‘s being much more cautious about the second video considering the suspect didn’t have the proper permission to carray a gun in a car:
“The fact that the incident from last year involved an illegal gun and not a concealed-carry license made it a ‘much more dangerous situation to the officers and the officers would have to react in a much more professionally forceful and focused way,’ McKimm said.”

There are no illegal guns. In fact police are to protect our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms SO THAT we can defend ourselves against corrupt government, inluding corrupt police.
US Constitution, Bill of Rights
“THE Conventions of a number of the States, having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best ensure the beneficent ends of its institution.

How the hell did my dad drive back and forth to the “deer woods” every year w/o becoming a convicted felon? How did he take a gun camping on the lake?
Was dad a felon and I just didn’t know it all this time – or have we lost some serious freedoms?

I really have to wonder about the Chief and the ENTIRE Canton Police Department if this sort of behavior is condoned and perhaps even encouraged. As I’ve said before I have always supported Police officers(My father was a Police Officer for thirty years) but I am having to reconsider after what I’ve been seeing of late. This knothead, out of control SWAT and other Tactical teams killing Innocent citizens “by MISTAKE” We need to get a handle on things here before it spirals out of control. I for one am no longer going to just open my door and invite a Police Officer into my home, I will view ALL actions by any Police agency with skepticism and they will have to PROVE TO ME that they havy MY best interests in mind….Just sayin’

Posted on August 1, 2011 at 1:45pmCorrect ! We do not even need a “permit” to carry a weapon. I understand a cop being freaked out at finding a loaded gun,but this cop has some real issues with anger and He is carrying a loaded weapon and is threatening to kill people ! I have been stopped before with my self defense weapon sitting on the seat in the open. The cop didnt start screaming he was going to kill me and he didnt drag me out of my car and arrest me !!

Posted on August 1, 2011 at 2:14pmThis nut case is not really a nut case. He’s scared. Terrified. That’s apparent in his overall behavior.
Police are supposed to approach a vehicle and position themselves so that they can react in any situation. Being in a position to react faster than a possible perp is a cop’s safety net, so to speak. There’s no need for screaming and threats. A professional handles the situation with calmness and profesionalism, and, if the situation requires it, he shoots. Screaming and raving just detracts from making cool, calm decisions.
But this chickensh**t was too terrified to handle the situation appropiately. He needs to be working at McDonalds or a car wash where he can cope. He isn’t able to avoid wringing his hands with worry and falling apart at the least little imagined threat, so any stressful occupation is a no-no for him.

Posted on August 1, 2011 at 2:45pmAgree – Not to mention in Ohio the constition states this clearly. You are allowed to open carry in Ohio. I need to research the ohio supreme court’s findings however. As I am not sure how they view vehicle transport. It would be hard to rationlize you can not open carry everywhere but not in your car, its like saying you have freedom of speech but not in your car. With CCL you can open carry in your vehicle as long as the firarm is visible or it has to be locked up, in September that changes I believe. However the leftist police and brady loons in this state believed that that once Ohio passed a CCL that there was going to by gun fights in the streets and we were going to shoot cops. None of which has happened…. funny how they never run articles a year later saying they were wrong do they! More proof the left is fundementally wrong and lie to get their way of controlling people and ignoring the constitution…. I suspect the former person had a loaded gun on the floor of the vehilce they violated some law. Not what the police department stated as the owner may legally own the weapon just not transported it correctly which is a misdemeanor.

Posted on August 1, 2011 at 2:57pmTechnically according to the Constitution there is no illegal firearm, because it “shall not be infringed.” Furthermore this is an example of how many police are going to behave because police (more than your average citizen) can not stand change and they can’t handle the idea of there not existing a police state.

That first narrows down the list of applicants, then the physical agility test narrows it even further. Most police officers have undergone a lengthy background check and done personal interviews with the top brass, supplying answers to different scenarios. Sounds more like that police chief has low standards, not that policemen (and -women) are generally stupid.

The only difference with police officers is that they have the ability to take away your liberty and “to whom much is given, much is expected.” Unfortunately, many officers do forget that they are public servants and do not have a working knowledge of the Constitution.
I know many Conservative law enforcement officers as well as firefighters. Although, most of the firefighters are non-union.

My husband, with tears in his eyes (20 years Navy) and I stood out on our front porch and turned our flag upside down for a nation in distress. We turned it back when Brown got elected, and now we just don‘t fly it because we don’t want to fly it upside down. But we got on the bad side of a city inspector who is now picking us to death with petty violations: You‘re crape myrtle tree isn’t 14 ft off the sidewalk, you don’t have numbers on the alley side of your house (she looked on the ONE day we had 12 inches of snow, and we DO have numbers on the back of our house). Posted on August 1, 2011 at 11:13amLet me see if I have this right.
We make more and more laws that people are too stupid to understand, and that people are not aware of because we are all working so long and hard that there is no time to learn them all and you need to be a lawyer or a judge to understand them since they are always so ambiguous .
We have a 2nd Amendment: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
I seems we ignore the power of the 2nd Amendment or contradicted it with State and local laws, yet, they tell us Federal law supersedes all other laws so which is it? I’m confused or stupid, so I should be locked-up and let the state and all you really smart people pay for my room, board, gym, internet, legal expenses and hospitalization.
We have police officers who are full of fear, abusing their authority given to them by stupid laws and we are paying them a great wage, retirement (that they want to enjoy) with benefits for life.
If we had followed the 2nd Amendment where it states: the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Then this man would be free to carry a gun in his car and this police officer wouldn’t be able to have is melt-down and if this police office is afraid of citizens with guns he should then get into a different line of work and if we have people shooting guns at people in public then we can have police offices shoot back.

Sad thing about this officer is he does not realize he is going to scare someone into defending themselves, because they do not want to die. Now if that happens he will have the luxury of saying he was defending him self and it will be called a justified action. I am suprised that no other officers do not think it is a problem. The national Average salary for Officers is about 50-60% hired then the national Per Capita Income, when you add in Benefits and other perks they get about 2X-3X national per capita income, Ofcourse they feel they are not paid enough and in some cases and some departments they may not be, but by and large they are paid a fair wage and we the public should demand a professional force.

Posted on August 1, 2011 at 11:02am““The fact that the incident from last year involved an illegal gun and not a concealed-carry license made it a ‘much more dangerous situation to the officers and the officers would have to react in a much more professionally forceful and focused way,’ McKimm said.””
I do not believe the officer was acting focused or professional in any way. Short, simple commands in a forceful voice are the way to deal with a situation like that. Threats are unwarrented and crossing the line.
This officer needs to be fired, period.

Posted on August 1, 2011 at 11:06amNor does it appear, at the time, the officer knew if the gun was legal or not, the mere possession of the gun was the trigger, just because after the fact the officer learned the gun was illegal does not in any way justify his actions at the time

Posted on August 1, 2011 at 11:08amYou’re absolutely correct in your assessment of how the officer should have handled the situation. Short and simple commands would have been sufficient opposed to “I am going to shoot you in the head and not lose sleep over it.”

Report Post »its only a matter of time until he does indeed “shoot someone the in head” and his inability to remain calm and collected (shown before any gun was present int he first video) means he will end up unjustifiably use force on an innocent person. if thats gets caught on camera, it will bing bad repercussions to all law enforcement around the country.

Report Post »Mil-Dot
Posted on August 1, 2011 at 3:15pmThat is a myth. They DO NOT put their lives on the line EVERY SINGLE DAY. That is a lie. Once in a while , yeah, they get into hairy stuff. But, not EVERY SINGLE DAY. Just imagine how many other people he has assaulted and threatened in this manner. He probably does it every day to many citizens, and has probably done so for years.

I suppose you’d rather have him wait until he was shot first, then start being forceful.
The real crime here is the criminal with the loaded weapon at his feet only got probation as punishment.
Report Post »the_ancient
Posted on August 1, 2011 at 11:03amSo it your opinion that carrying a weapon is a crime, Good thing the US Constitution as well as the Ohio Constitution Disagree and ensures the right of the people to bear arms in their defense is protected
The mere act of possessing a firearms does not warrant the reaction of this officer. People like you that excuse the actions of BAD COPS promote more of this unprofessional abusive and unethical behavior

Posted on August 1, 2011 at 11:23amHey, SPUGGYLIPS, what did the guy do to be called a criminal and not allowed to possess a weapon. I didn’t see in the article what he might have been convicted of. In states like NJ (and NY) how do you purchase a legal gun and transport it to your home???? If it is not concealed, you don’t need a license to transport it IN THE OPEN.) If you did, then the 2nd Amendment has no authority.
I have a carry permit and was stopped once because my vehicle was of the same make, model and color (but my license did not contain any of the numbers/letters in the license reported). Without being given any chance to ID myself, I was forced to get out of my car with hands in the air, told to get on the ground – and as I was complying, I turned my head slightly to tell them I was disabled and could fall. I was tackled and held to the ground with knees in my back (luckily they didn’t break my back). After being handcuffed, they fished my wallet out and opening it found my carry permit. I had a patdown the TSA would be proud of. They they removed just about everything that wasn’t screwed down in my car, trying to find my gun (and more of my pain meds which requires a prescription). I then sit in the back seat of the police cruiser for three hours – even after an eyewitness failed to ID me as being the strong-arm bandit.
I was only released after being taken home where they verified that my gun was being properly contained and checking my med bottle and my VA doctor had issued

Posted on August 1, 2011 at 1:51pmwhere does it even say in the article that the man was a criminal ?? In your left wing liberal brain washed mind anyone carrying a gun is a criminal ? to hell with the constitution right ? in every country that has been taken over by a dictator the FIRST thing they did was make it illegal to have a weapon ! And this cop has now been caught twice screaming he was going to kill someone ! This cop is out of control and has no right to be threatening to kill anyone !

The national propoganda campaign to put them on a pedestal lately only serves one purpose and it is to make you and your ilk think exactly the way you do. To honor and cherish and support them and to “think ” you “need” them, and give up your rights completely, so that you will “feel” safe. Get Real.
Report Post »Dont forget people , police and LE were “created” because citizens just didnt “have the time” to deal with criminals. So conversely, they can be “uncreated”. But, it will take some serious dedication and balls from the citizenry to reassume the power to contain criminal activity.
