Illegal Robo-Calls From ‘Women of the 99%’ Target Limbaugh, Republican Representatives

A group calling itself “Women of the 99%” has been illegally robo-calling voters across the United States in an effort to tie Republican members of the House of Representatives to the Rush Limbaugh “slut” controversy.

The calls are illegal both because there is no provided callback number, as required by the Consumer Protection Act of 1991, and because there is no known group called “Women of the 99%.”

According to The Daily Mail:

A call left on the answering machine of Paula Bolyard of Doylestown, Ohio yesterday stated: ‘Hello, this is a message from Women of the 99 Percent. Congressman Jim Renacci is condoning the war on women led by Rush Limbaugh, who has become the de facto leader of the Republican party.

‘Call Congressman Renacci at 330-489-4414 and ask him why he remains silent while Republican spokesman Rush Limbaugh insults, degrades, and verbally abuses women. Tell Congressman Renacci that it’s just plain shameful that he that he allows Rush Limbaugh’s behavior to continue. We are the Women of the 99 Percent and we won’t be silent anymore.’

Similar calls were reported in the districts of Maryland Rep. Roscoe Bartlett, Michigan Rep. Dan Benishek, Illinois Reps Judy Biggert, Tim Johnson, and Bobby Schilling, and Virginia Rep. Scott Rigell, prompting hundreds of angry phone calls to Representatives.

I did not think last week she was either of those two words.”  Rush has been widely denounced by politicians on both sides of the aisle, but that doesn’t stop Democrats from taking full advantage of the situation.

David Axelrod is reported to have said that Mitt Romney failed a “test of leadership” amidst the controversy, saying,“If you don’t have the strength to stand up to the most strident voices in your party, how will you stand up to Ahmadinejad?”

Furthermore, the DCCC (Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee) has begun a petition accusing Republicans of launching an “all-out war on women,“ saying that they ”are trying to silence women who stand against their radical agenda.”  It continues, “We saw top Republican leaders squirm at denouncing or even criticizing Rush Limbaugh after he called women‘s health care advocate Sandra Fluke a ’slut‘ and a ’prostitute’ on his radio show.”

There are some, however, who are very uncomfortable with the controversy and the robo-calls, and refuse to be riled into calling their Representatives.  One Michigan blogger called “Corinthian Scales” said the calls were a “wildly outrageous accusation to make by an unidentified ‘group’ who, by the way, is now intruding into the privacy of my home…no number shows on the caller ID, and *69 only prompts the phone company’s recorded message that they are unable to determine the phone number used.”

      I guess since Sandra Fluke has proven herself a capable liar she is now a good asset to the Democratic Party ,even caught in a lie they will probably continue this sham until November..Sandra will probably take some public office in the future,since character no longer seems to be required for these jobs..

      If I were a Democratic woman, I’d be really steamed. Somehow having Ms. Fluke for a spokewoman would be really, really demeaning.

    Personally, I have not received a call from them. It would be a waste of their time.
    She was a slut long before Rush called her one.
    Then to hear she owns a 300,000 house and still cannot afford her birth control is b.s. too
    considering target stores sell it for 9.00 a month.
    But what about before birth control aids ?? Guess she cannot afford a marble to put
    between her knees either.

    You can pursue litigation against these “women of the 99%” if you are on the no call list. You can get the phone number and its owner from the phone company by subpoena if you are filing a lawsuit. Go for it, this can be made to backfire real bad on these agitators

    I am in the 99%. How dare this woman attempt to speak for me. America has a constitution that allows freedom of speech. This women can tell Rush how she feels amd what she thinks.. I for one will vote for anyone that stands up for that free speech and vote against anyone that undermines a persons right. We have laws against defimation. If she thinks Rush’s comments rise to that level, take it to the court. And advertizers know this, if you pull your adds, I will consider you a threat to free speech and will not support your back stabbing company. I would rather know that you stand up for your customers and friends who may error but have done a good job and helped you make money for years.

Yet he sits silent. He never said one word through the whole campaign about the media, and his supporters about they way they treated Sarah Palin, and her children, they even made comments about her disabled child. Not one word not one phone call. Had this been said by a Republican about Nancy Pelosi, that Republican would have been shamed into resigning and Gloria “Allready been paid” would be trying to get him in prison.

    Rush is going to be absent from his show Monday, so he won’t even get a chance to respond to this crap. He’s got a charity golf tournament.

    Rush has been absent from his show a lot, the past couple of years. He needs to take his radio equipment with him and start doing his show on the road, like Glenn Beck does.

      Exactly. The second you apologize you lend legitimacy to their feigned outrage. Before he apologized it was just the typical baloney of a bunch of liberals attempting to create a controversy where there was none. By apologizing, people that don’t know any better think there actually was a controversy and think you actually did do something to merit an apology.

    The RNC should put out robo calls that the Super Pac that supports Obama, accepted $1,000,000 from potty mouth Bill Mahier – who has even insulted Hillary Clinton.

    Calls probably coming from the WH…maybe O’reilly can trace the calls right back to the WH…but not really sure if there are any women in the WH that are 99% women, maybe it is Barney Frank making the calls since he now has a little more time on his hands and he could be 99% woman…surely he is at least 1% male…hahaha.
