‘Illinnoyed By High Taxes?’ Indiana Wants You!

The Hoosier State has declared a border war on their neighbor to the west, Illinois.
The online slide show seen at SolutionIndiana.com makes some fantastic points for anyone considering opening a business there or moving one from Illinois or Indiana.
For example, there are some obvious differences in the costs of operating a business in either Indiana or Illinois:
The potential savings appear to be everywhere. Would you rather spend $18,900 on unemployment insurance or $41,820?
The site goes on to detail the advantages offered to businesses:
- Indiana ranks first in the Midwest in the Tax Foundation’s 2011 Business Tax Climate Index (Oct. 2010).
- Indiana has the lowest business costs in the Midwest and is one of the top 10 lowest cost locations in the U.S. according to Forbes (Oct. 2010).
- Indiana ranks fourth in the nation for its business tax and regulatory climate according to the Enterprising States study by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and National Chamber Foundation (May 2010).
- Indiana ranks best in the Midwest in Area Development magazine’s Top States for Doing Business study. (Oct. 2010).
- Indiana is one of nine states that now have triple-A credit ratings from all three agencies (Standard & Poor’s, Fitch, and Moody’s) due to the state’s significant financial management and budgeting practices, stable economic base, property tax reform, and economic development efforts to attract job creation and create economic diversification.
The differences are not just favorable for businesses, but also for individuals. Indiana ranks 19th on the local tax chart, while Illinois is at #8 and rising as their state government considers many options for dealing with the ticking fiscal time bomb. Just last summer it was reported that Illinois has a $15 billion dollar shortfall in the current year, and conservative estimates say their state pension fund is at least 50% underfunded.
It is no wonder that people have been leaving the state in droves.Between 1995 and 2007, Illinois lost over 85,000 taxpayers to border states. One study estimates that from 1991 to 2009, Illinois lost an average of one citizen every ten minutes. That translates to over 1.25 million people leaving and taking a considerable amount of money with them.
The Illinnoyed have been voting with their feet for years, Indiana just got a little smarter and is reeling them in.

Posted on March 19, 2011 at 11:22pmI’ve lived in Illinois for almost 10 years… there hasn‘t been a single sane decision made to live on anything remotely resembling a budget even when there was someone claiming to be a republican in the governor’s mansion. They raised the yearly fees on trucking licenses a few years back and drove all of the logistics companies out of the state. Now they’re driving everyone else out. The Chicago machine never met a tax it didn’t like, a union it didn’t want to support, or a liberal cause that it didn’t want to throw a ridiculous amount of money at. If I thought I could get a job in some other state akin to what I’m doing here, I’d be gone too. Good, bad, or otherwise my employer invested billions in equipment and facilities in this state long ago so they’re pretty much screwed.
Also, for any wondering, Rahm Emanuel shouldn’t have even been on the ballot for mayor of Chicago. The residency requirements are very black and white and he didn’t meet them. The liberal judges in the state supreme court overturned a correct lower court ruling that thew him off the ballot. There was a retention vote last November on a liberal judge that sealed that up.. they spent millions on that race. First judge retention vote I’ve ever seen ads for on TV or really anything beyond yard signs in my life.

Posted on March 19, 2011 at 11:07pmBefore all the union troubles, Wisconsin was trying to do the same thing – lure businesses in Illinois by lower taxes. It is interesting that the liberals in Illinois are so foolish as to think that Illinois is so wonderful that companies are willing to pay more and make lessof a profit for the privilege of staying there. Illinois may become the next Michigan rather quickly.

Posted on March 19, 2011 at 10:51pmAlot of nice folks live in Indiana. And also in the outskirts of Illinois, but Chicago has poisoned the state as a whole governmentally.
The people in the small towns in Illinois are practically the same as Indiana, but they vote a mix of Republican and Democrat. Which essentially cancels out their weight against Chicago. There is still some nostalgia for the rum runners like Al Capone and it translates to modern politics as the socialist democrats.
Indiana itself has a very high German population with the associated hot blondes, stout men, and kickin Octoberfests. Toyota built a multi-Billion dollar plant in Evansville, and other companies are also looking to set up shop there due to the huge tracks of open land and low taxes. The interstate system in Indiana is also superb. It‘s a trucker’s paradise.
I think if Indiana focused their advertising exclusively in Chicago, it would do tremendous damage to Illinois. All that would be left would be unions and companies that like the name Chicago on their business cards after all is said and done.

Posted on March 19, 2011 at 10:49pmHigh-tax, union-friendly, Democrat-controlled (due to their disproportionately high welfare-recipient populations and corrupt political machine) states like Illinois and California are literally going bankrupt. The overtaxed, over-regulated productive working class (non-union, non-welfare-recipient, non-criminal, legal citizen) is leaving in droves , as are many of the businesses that employ them.
Just be prepared for these bankrupt, corrupt kleptocracies to pressure their socialist ilk in Washington to force the rest of the states (American Taxpayers who live elsewhere) to cover their worthless hides. This should force a true Taxpayer Revolt…. and these corrupt states should be allowed to collapse under the weight of their OWN corrupt making.

World’s Christians in Grave Danger
By Chris Gonsalves and Kathleen Walter
The Muslim Brotherhood, with the complicity of the Obama administration, has infiltrated the U.S. government at the highest levels and is influencing American policy that leaves the world’s Christians in grave danger, warns internationally known evangelist Franklin Graham
“The Muslim Brotherhood is very strong and active here in our country,” Graham tells Newsmax. “We have these people advising our military and State Department. We’ve brought in Muslims to tell us how to make policy toward Muslim countries.
“It’s like a farmer asking a fox, ‘How do I protect my hen house?’”
That same Muslim Brotherhood is fomenting much of the rebellion and the deteriorating social order roiling the Middle East, forcing millions of Christians to flee for their lives, says Graham, son of beloved evangelist Dr. Billy Graham, and founder of The Samaritan’s Purse international charity.
“Under [Egypt’s Hosni] Mubarek and [Jordan’s] King Hussein and other moderate leaders, Christians had been protected,” Graham says. 11 million Christians live in Egypt and I ear for them, because if the Muslim Brotherhood comes to power, you’re going to see a great exodus of Christians. Same thing in Tunisia and Lebanon. I fear for the church because the Muslim Brotherhood is going to be a very terrible thing.”
A new report from the Roman Catholic aid agency Aid to the Church in Need supports Graham’s contention that the persecution of Christians worldwide has worsened exponentially in the past few years.
According to the report, Christians face increased suffering in 22 countries around the world, with Iraq, Egypt, Lebanon, Pakistan, and Nigeria being among the worst countries to be a Christian in today.
The persecution has gotten markedly worse over the past two years according to the organization. ["OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS"]
“The proportion of countries with a worsening track-record of anti-Christian violence and intimidation would be higher were it not for the fact that in many cases the situation could scarcely have been worse in the first place. More than 75 percent of religious persecution in the world is currently being carried out against Christians, the report concludes.
The Vatican formed a special committee late last year to address the flight of Christians and the rise of militant Islam in the Middle East. In his New Year’s message, Pope Benedict XVI said Christians suffer more than any other religious group because of their faith
Asked if President Barack Obama was doing enough to protect Christians at home and abroad, Graham says, “No. If anything it’s the opposite.”
“Muslims are protected more in this country than Christians,” he says. “The president has made many statements but he doesn’t back them up. We have to do more to protect the Christians in the Muslim world. Their lives are in danger.”
In recent weeks, Obama administration officials have stepped up the defense of their inclusive stance toward Muslims in their ranks. Deputy national security advisor, Denis McDonough, said last week that President Obama is actually trying to prevent terrorism by “dispelling the myths that have developed over the years, including misperceptions about our fellow Americans who are Muslim.”
“When it comes to preventing violent extremism and terrorism in the United States, Muslim Americans are not part of the problem, you’re part of the solution,” McDonough said at an interfaith forum in Sterling, Va.
Graham, however says what Obama is really doing is “giving Islam a pass” rather than speaking openly about the “horrific” treatment women and minorities receive.
“We certainly love the Muslim people,” Graham said in an earlier interview with Newsmax. “But that is not the faith of this country. And that is not the religion that built this nation. The people of the Christian faith and the Jewish faith are the ones who built America, and it is not Islam.”

The best offense and defense for the poor and middle class is to learn what the rich know about laws, finances, economy, politics, history, mining, science, foreign policy. The goal should be to learn it, utilize it with integrity, and take back our country from the lazy, the corrupt and the ignorant. The other goal should be to vote in good people of faith and integrity. We need people like our founders who put the people first and an example of this is have our fiscal house in order. Extremely good order. Taxes create crime, lazy people and corrupt people. Let’s have a high standard instead of being mediocre or even slothful. We can do better then Indiana.

Posted on March 20, 2011 at 4:03pmProblem is that Illinois is a welfare state. I’m a metro Chicagoland resident.
The democrats treat the working class private sector taxpayers like their only use is to sustain the government employees and the welfare crowed – or the liberal voting base.
All the democrats do is raise taxes and then pocket most of the revenue then redistribute the rest to their welfare sheep who are really nothing more than democrat voters on retainer.
The police here are authoritarian and our civil laws absolutely violate the Bill of Rights 1-10.
I dont believe people realize how absolutely tyrannical Illinois actually is.
I’m absolutely glad to see Wisconsin and Indiana creating competition.

Posted on March 21, 2011 at 12:21amPerfect example of why we need 50 sovereign states with up to 50 competing state governments (like it was designed to be by the constitution) and not a federal government that gets involved in state affairs (unfortunately because of states letting them) and taking taxes from tax payers in every state to pay for failed policies in states like Illinois. If companies and people did move to Indiana from Illinois and left Illinois with a smaller tax base, do you think the federal money to Illinois would be more or less? What’s the incentive for Illinois to be competitive? The machine there will still get their money while playing the champions of the downtrodden and whipping up class envy blaming it on somebody else. Some old shtuff.
