‘Let My People Go!’: Illinois State Rep. Goes Absolutely Ballistic During Screaming Speech Over Pension Vote

This might be the craziest political speech you’ve seen. This is Illinois State Rep. Mike Bost absolutely losing it during a floor speech yesterday. And while he does go ballistic — throwing papers, screaming, and flailing his arms — he does have a good reason: earlier in the day a committee voted on a pension reform bill that then put it up for a vote for the entire House; but Bost was furious since the hundred-plus-page bill wouldn’t be properly vetted.

That led to this:

Illinois Representative Mike Bost Goes Crazy During Speech

Illinois Representative Mike Bost Goes Crazy During Speech

Illinois Representative Mike Bost Goes Crazy During Speech

Illinois Representative Mike Bost Goes Crazy During Speech

The local CBS station describes why some are upset with the bill. But I think it’s safe to say that Bost is most upset with the tactics and how supporters tried to force a vote. In short, he didn’t want to pass the bill to find out what was in it. And he had enough. Here’s how it sounded (you might want to turn the volume up if you’ve had it with politics as usual — Bost is your champion):

“Total power in one person’s hands – not the American way!” Bost began.

“These damn bills that come out here all the damn time, come out here at the last second!” Bost added as he threw papers. “I’ve got to figure out how to vote for my people!”

“You should be ashamed of yourselves! I’m sick of it!” he went on. “Every year! We give power to one person! It was not made that way in the Constitution! He was around when it was written! Now we give him – we’ve passed rules that stop each one of us! Enough! I feel like somebody trying to be released from Egypt! Let my people go!”

Romney cannot defeat Obama, he does not have a big enough base to do so. Research it. Look at the pictures and videos of his rallies. There isn’t hardly anyone there at any of them! He is having a very hard time getting the actual delegates at the conventions. Nobody is enthused enough to do the leg work. This is a big problem for a potential POTUS. If he cannot get his supporters fired up during an election, how is he going to get his administration and anyone else fired up as POTUS? Quit listening to the lying media.

It isn’t ironic that Mr. Bost popped a vessel with pension spending bill in Illinois. I believe that a full 20% of the Illinois state budget is allocated to funding pensions….imagine that…20%!!!! Union workers make up on average 13% of the workforce and 20% of the states budget is dedicated to paying for their retirement.

    Go Scott Walker…

Municipality union workforce is @ 36%

For a net average of 13%.

The government dole is a great gig – you can work 25 years for the government, retire at 50 and collect 80% pay and benefits. He!! you can pick up a job and make a bundle. That scenario plus 49% of households collecting a government handout….Mr. Schiff will not seem like the genius he will appear to be in a few years.

Why is anyone surprised at the way the democrat socialists in illinois are running their government. We all should know our candidates but the real problem in America today is the bureaucracy of government. The Governor is a figurehead, the congressmen (either party) when elected become employees of the Government (Wages and benefits). The bureaucracy dictates what happens in Illinois. We are all Americans not different sides of a wrestling match. We need to downsize the bureaucracy of the government.
We need to have our tax money go for programs that help all not to over compensate the bureaucracy.

I will never be able to retire! Best part is since I am no longer married and my daughter will be older than 18, THEY WILL KEEP THE MONEY!! Sane, you have every right to be pissed, but frankly, you should be pissed at the Democrats who refuse to allow your “pension” to be privatized. Imagine how much money would be in your 401K or other retirement tool if you got to keep that 10% for yourself! Then it wouldn’t matter when you quit! It would be up to you and your family to determine how and when you want to retire. I’m in the military, and they’ve proposed doing that with our pensions, and people freaked out, so it will probably never happen. It’s only because the Unions and Dems have convinced everyone that privatization is somehow the most evil thing on the planet.

You have likely never met the NY sanitation worker I saw interviewed that makes over $100,000 per year and plans to do as outlined. Or the many teachers in that same vein, while they make less $ than the sanitation worker have the golden parachute; or the bus drivers that have the same benefit package due to their associations to the schools. The question you need to ask is where the dues are going…how much ends up in the hands of union leadership and how much is allocated to electing progressives. Unions spent $6,000,000 to campaign against Christie. Your questions might help you understand right-to-work states and why Walker is vilified by the unions in Wisconsin, but is being hailed as a hero by creating a SURPLUS in the state budget and using the $ to create jobs. The scenario presented is not typical…but certainly atypical compared to most.

that’s not quite true.. In order to get 80% you would have to work 40 years. We only get 2.0 x years of service.. Still pretty darn good if I say so myself. Here is the rub. I started working for the State of Calif at a early age. Didn’t realize the ramifications of my Sin. But, I can’t possibly take back those 25 years of service and all of a sudden start a retirement plan at 50 years old.

We were duped. :( I’m struggling now to make amends.. I’m saving in Gold and Silver and a measly 401k(yea right). I realize my service to the State will not come with the promised pension. I understand that now. Gonna be a tough end of life life for me and my wife. But, we will work it out.

By the way, my wife and I lost over 50% of our 401k in the 2008 crash. A new one is coming soon. We now only contribute the minimum and the rest goes to Physical Gold and Silver, paying down our debts, buying long term food, and getting ready for the SHTF that is coming. We’ve scaled down our life to the basics to prepare for the worst.

@ Sane_I Think: many of us will never retire w/ $30,000 or any $$ at all. I will never retire & have never expected to do so. When I began working @ 14, I realized SS & all the other forced deductions were a scam. Union pensions are just another way to steal. They’re all Ponzi schemes & fantasies. But now the money has run out & we’re faced w/ reality.

I wish they’d just let us have our own money to invest – how much might you have made investing 1/4 mil? But were you ever taught to invest? I wasn’t. And I have an amazing education, went to a small academic high school w/ college level classes taught by PhDs & 2 Ivy league schools/universities. We were taught to have great careers (but not jobs). There was never 1 class in investing $$ earned from the great careers. Social Security & pensions would cover retirement. They didn‘t want us to invest because we’d be able to care for ourselves.

The truth is, we’ve been robbed. Social Security, pensions, taxes – all schemes to steal our $$. There’s probably no way to get it back, ever. We’ve got to clean house, try to recover what we can & use our ingenuity to make $$ for ourselves. But 1st we must understand what has happened & is happening so that we stop asking those who are robbing us to return what they’ve stolen. They won’t. Thieves don’t return their plunder unless they have a change of heart so praying for them is necessary. But don’t expect too much. We’ll have to fix this ourselves.

No more Ivory Tower mentality….take away their perks, their retirement, their 401k, their Medical/Dental unless every American can get it too for the same cost…their cars, travel, and housing allowances…
they get paid 4-5 times what the average US family makes total and most of them have “consultant” jobs or law practices they still get paid for as well.. Biden and McCain were the two “poorest” Senators in terms of IRS tax filing numbers and they both took in over 450,000 in 2008…
Why are we paying Congress 185,000/year when they only work 4 days a week, most of the time the House Chamber is empty unless they have to run in for a photo op, speech they are giving, or to vote on a bill they never read which takes 30 seconds…add in benefits and medical and they are taking 250K minimum from the US taxpayers…
We don’t need term limits…we need a Congressional pay limit…tie their pay to the average US household..same for ALL Federal workers…
economy goes down, our income goes down…so does their pay…see how many jump ship to the private sector in the first year…would be like rats leaving a sinking ship….then use the money we reclaim from the leeches to increase the base pay of Active Duty personnel to at least the poverty line..22k/yr at a E1

They invest in companies that produce military hardware, then they warmonger all over the place, making huge profits for themselves and the people that help keep them in power……. don’t count CA out…until the 1990′s, CA was well balanced and actually looked out for the residents of the State. Reagan won CA in 1980 and 1984 and was governor for two terms…things really got bad in the late 1990′s under Davis, a liberal Democrat that made horrible decisions with CA energy policy, telecommunications, and education. That being coupled with the Clinton slash and burn on the military policy (which closed all of CA’s bases save San Diego Coronado Naval yard and Camp Pendelton Marine amphibious base and Fort Irwin Army desert/mountain training facility). There used to be 32 military based in CA before the Clinton cuts, now there are a dozen if you count the specialized bases like Vandenberg, and research bases like China Lake.
CA was the 5th largest economy in the WORLD, produced 1/4 of the US food supply, and was the tech center of the nation and World for nearly 3 decades.
CA is largely conservative and moderate Republican in all but the major population centers of LA county and SF/Oakland Bay area, unfortunately, those make up about 12 million of the 30 million residents. On a county map of elections the State is all red with just a handful of blue counties.
Political gerrymandering has kept the Dems in control of the Legislature for 30 years destroying CA as the once great Golden State and jewel of the USA.

Mr. Bost is trying to find something that makes sense in a state that is so mired down by corrupt policies from Democrats that he finally has lost it..it also appears that he is standing alone in a sea of indifferent fellow representatives.

again…the chamber is empty…people are just lounging in their chairs…nobody even seems to take notice of this guy until he starts throwing stuff…nor do they seem to care other than he is disrupting their nap or text or whatever…

I agree Piper. But, we could always adopt the Chicago-style-voting-fraud-political corruption tactics and vote anyway. Even though I live in Florida one could always find an address, or addresses, in this gentlemans district and vote…and vote…and vote…often.

It is the Chicago-way afterall, but alas, for the most part, we are Conservative Christians who won’t violate the law, taint our integrity, will continue to value our morals and won’t participate in misdeeds which further tarnish the process ~ for in the end we shall ultimately savor victory.

@TIME – You’re apparently so obtuse about politics that a scale has yet to have been improvised to weigh your lack of understanding about what happened in 2010. Sorry to be so blunt but after the 2010 election results (from senate to local dog catcher) — and if you still can’t get it — then the problem is on your end.

The milquetoast “Ike-Nixon-Bush41/43″ Republican Party created the Tea Party, not BHO. After the disaster of W’s last four years we strong Constitutionalist had nowhere to turn.

The Tea Party movement was born. It was COMPLETELY grassroots. There was nothing coordinated. In my case, I just got off my ass and showed up at a capitol rally on April 15, 2009 because I was pissed! And I learned there were others who are just as pissed as I was. This is how it all began. We went to work; became politically active (my family thought I went off the deep end); became a substantial political force to be reckoned with, and now we hold Rino feet to the proverbial flames of a burning constitution they set fire to. I was told by conservative friends that I was wasting my time. “You may feel better about yourself but it doesn’t matter.“ ”Bull—t,” I responded. In 2010 it worked. (Those same friends are damned quiet now.)

Ultimately, we ARE removing the treasonous Rinos. But it’s going to take time. Ron Paul can’t pull a rabbit from his bum and save the country. It’s too late. Voting for anyone but Mitt now will do nothing but reelect BHO.

Bost has read both the state and federal constitution. He knows what it means, knows what it says, understands the founder’s intent and can quote the founders. (Can you, Darla?)

We are witnessing PASSION for The Rule of Law. Day in — day out; day after day; week after week; month after month; and year after year the Democratic Socialist in Illinois have destroyed The Great State of the Land of Abe Lincoln. Illinois is no longer a Representative Republic but oppressive strong armed tactics that we have seen throughout history in every totalitarian government since Genesis.

Mike Bost recognizes that our Representative Republic as created, instituted, designed – and defended by the death and maiming of millions of patriots and veterans – is being subverted before our very eyes at the hands of Communist who call themselves The Democratic Party.

It is a slow death for what once was a proud state and likely irreparable given the socialist voting block within Cook County. Patriot Mike Bost knows it. This is why we hear grief, pain, anguish, torment, and agony in his voice.
