‘I’m Going to Be Fired’: Bob Beckel Detonates a High-Volume ‘What the F***’ Live on Hannity

One of the oldest rules in broadcasting (I’m thinking back to my TV anchor days) is that you should always assume that your microphone might be live. Yet time and time again we see that rule violated.  And often it comes right at the moment when the commercial break ends.

Business Insider:

Bob Beckel was obviously carrying on with an off-air argument and missed any cue about going back live. So he finished yelling at Neil Boortz, “You don’t know what the f**k you’re talking about.”

Update: The initial accounts of Beckel’s profanity being targeted at Neil Boortz proved to be incorrect. Beckel’s ire was focused on fellow panelist Jennifer Stefano.  She recounts the experience here.

In a blooper that is as hilarious as it increasingly becomes painful, it slowly dawns on Beckel what actually happened, as Hannity insists he apologize and Beckel, after saying he won’t several times, finally realizes the cameras are actually rolling. When he finally figured it out, he told Hannity to “run your show better,” then covered his head in shame and refused to speak, other than to say “I’m going to be fired.”

    There used to be a time when television personalities were considered to have a respectable career, known for great attention to fact, detail and a professional delivery of their talking points. Liberals tend to snipe and shame themselves publicly, all by their little selves.

      No I disagree, I‘m glad he’s on Fox, because then people can see for themselves how stupid Liberals really are. Maybe they should reprimand him, but they shouldn’t fire him.

      Seriously. that is what it looked like, I thought that there was going to be a code blue on the set. This guy is d(ick), but I do enjoy watching the beeacthes (all 4 of them) on the Five rip him him. He irritates the crap out of me, but reminds me that the libs “don’t know what the F they are talking about.” I hope that FOX does not go the way of MSNBC etc and such and fire him. Let’s keep it fair and balanced. Lets watch the left and their over inflated brains and (in Beckels case A$$) tip them over.

      Bob is the one of the reasons I don`t watch Fox News anymore. Where as at one point in time I didn`t go anywhere else for my News. When they gave Glen Beck the boot I turned Fox off. The Four is a worthless program. Funny how if you followed Glen Beck all of the information that he put out there is now reality. And Fox News has laid on their back and surrendered to the pressure of the left. The Drudge Report and The Blaze is where I go to find out what is going on.       You are right, Bob. Head Start/Pre-K has been a complete success. Just look at the high drop-out rates in the black community.
      Beckel is a committed Socialist. Equal results for everyone!
      Head Start is a perfect example that everone is “not” equal. You can have all the Head Starts and pre-schools you want, and STILL some people will fail.
      Until the black family is repaired, there will be no chance of blacks obtaining anything near “equal results.”

      Foxs is slowly slanting left probably to get more leftist advertising dollars. Every notice that a lot of heavily slanted left advertising is now being aired during the the five,oreilly and even hannity.
      That’s how they work get those shows that are heavily viewed to atempt to brainwash conservative,when that fails they threaten the station with the lose of advertising dollars if they don’t push a more liberal message.
      Fox should refuse to advertising dollars from liberal infuence companies…TELL THEM THEIR MONEY IS NO GOOD ON TO FOX.

      I don’t think Bob should be fired. I do think he should work on the tolerance necessary to be an opinion person. I disagree strongly with Mr Beckel on many things, but I value his thoughts on issues. I value them and so should we all because to be too far right or left is not a good thing.

      I think Bob wants the same thing as republicans, but how we get to meeting the needs of our society is the issue. We need to take better care of ourselves and commit to doing things because they are the right thing to do and not that we have to get something out of it……at least when it comes to helping each other.

      Bob needs to relax and realize when things get that heated, he needs to take a time out and not respond until he can do so in a more professional matter. Reprimand him and move on….bigger issues to deal with then a person who expresses his emotions in a high and aggravated method.

      I agree with you for most of what librals say and how they act, however in response to what some have posted, I disagree.

      You don‘t like what Bob says because you don’t see eye to eye with him but to say things like waiting for him to have a heart attack or calling him names, makes you no better than anything they might say.

      I watched the show and Bob was genuinely shook. It was a complete accident on his part and his comments to Shawn was really because he was so embarrassed.

      I think Bob is funny and I think the fox guys get along well with him.

      If Fox is to stay Fair and Balanced then we have to listen to the side of the librals too. We just don’t have to agree.

      If it was anyone other than Bob who did that, would you really want Fox to fire them, probably not.

      You see my problem with the liberals is they seem to have two sets of rules, one for there buddys and one for the conservative guys.

      If you want to see Bob gone but would not feel the same if it had been Shawn, then you are no better than they are, think about that before you think your better than the left.

Stefano was exactly correct when she said discuss the issues and not make it personal…do not attack the messenger.       Beckel should not be fired. As stated, just a normal argument between two people with different views on a subject. With no con there would be no pro and we would only see or hear one side of a problem. I’m not supporting insane democrapic principals but it is fair and balanced to hear both sides. When I heard libs asking for Rush to be removed from the air I just fired of several others in the media who said far worse things and asked if they would support them being removed and that pretty much ended the argument.

      FoS only means you won’t be jailed for your speech, by the government. It does not protect you from being fired or kicked out of class or school.

      Fox has several shiny new libs waiting in the wings, including Santita Jackson whom they premiered recently, articulate, polite, and easy on the eyes.

      aaron@home….you are completely disregarding the fact that parents watch these shows with their children. Children don’t need to hear this kind of language. I mean, to be honest, nobody does….but children should be allowed to keep their innocence as long as possible. This language is not allowed on public airways. It’s a rule, and we as a civilized country need to abide by the rules. I’m not saying he should be fired (I don’t think he should), but it definitely is an issue that needs to be dealt with.

      You knew that sooner rather than later someone was going to push the envelope and drop the f-bomb and how appropriate that it should be the camera-loving Mr. Beckel. I loved how, in typical ******* fashion, he tried to blame Hannity for not being in control of his show. The FCC is about as useful as mammary glands on a bull. They have been so involved in pushing net neutrality(now there is an oxymoron) and figuring out how to punish a two-bit “singer” for flipping the bird during the halftime show of the SuperBowl that they are ignoring the coarseness going on daily on television. If you are a responsible parent, what evening show can you watch with your children without the gutter language? I thought it quite ironic that after the lamestream media pushed the fauxtroversy with Rush over his calling Ms Fluke a s*** that CBS aired an episode of “CSI” where an actress was in bed and denied that she was a s*** and the actor lying beside her chimed in that she was a fine piece of a**.

      Whenever Beckel is on I change the channel. I don’t watch “The Five” specifically because Beckel is on the panel. I’ll be more than happy to see Fox cut the bloated slug loose.       I don’t think he should be fired for this. It was a slip up and he thought he was off air. If he slipped and he knew he was on air it would be different.       I am beginning to think that the F word isn’t worth arguing about anymore. It is obvious that all the liberals use it – Rahm Emanuel, Vice President Biden (Obama laughing about it), Governor Blogoyavich, – to name a few. I have heard mothers and fathers apply it to children all day long, I have heard people in grocery stores us it to describe fruits or for whatever reason. I have heard children use it against teachers and teachers use it agains mothers, fathers, children, and other teachers. While my children would have never even thought about saying something like this to me nor I to them, apparently language changes and the F word has become yesterday’s Egads. Bleeping it out on television just calls attention to it. Jon Stewart and Bill Maher – I’m surprised anyone quotes them because their shows are almost completely bleeped out for the swear words they use. It is no longer newsworthy to use it and it wastes time talking about incidents involved with it. Then there are the non-enlightened ones who think the finger is any better.

Then he turns around and makes stupid Liberal comments and it makes me mad all over again. My first thought is: how can someone who claims to love the Lord follow the Allinsky rules of communism? This boggles my mind. Jesus expects to give people a hand up, not a hand out. We’re teaching people to rely on the kindness of our Country to raise them from birth to death, with no effort on their own except to learn to take, but never give to others or learn work ethics.
      The socialism creeping into this country is like North Korea, where the people are workers for the government. living on a starving diet, housed in a prison. Is that what we want for America? Total control of people is communism and socialism. I want freedom in America for all of us.

      Beckel does have a few redeeming qualities such as compassion for the homeless and addicted and his great love for animals. Those fine qualities do not give him a pass on his despicable, explosive behavior wherein he belittles others and goes in for their jugular when he’s angered. He apparently has little self-control or regard for the children who might be watching at that hour. The sad part is that FOX, in their more liberal incarnation, will do nothing because he generates interest and income for the station.       Reading most of the posts this is a teachable moment in broadcasting. Bob is Bob & he was having a heated conversation with another person. Comments from other posts said they have children watching…well, teachable moment to explain to your children, YOUR views whether conservative or liberal about the words Bob choose to use. Conservatives would say to their children, the man on tv should not use cuss words & what other explanations you want & probably say Bob has free speech & we all should use caution on how we relay our message to others, especially on tv. We all have stepped-in-it & so be it. Debbie W & Bob are worried about job security. Fox will handle it their way & Bob will become a “Stepford-Man” but will still wear his suspenders but maybe a beige-color for awhile to try & blend into the setting.

Floor manager made a half gesture when back on air and they like he were in a heated argument about a local vote and missed the halfasss signal. Light was on though. Also had an anchor go back on-air pickin it. That was great ! I miss working in TV-News.

    the blob loves his phony persona as a bad boy..when the show started ,sean told him to watch his language and that they had to have signs behind sean telling the blob what NOT to say…that pos sat there and thought of a way to upstage his own bad boy image ,,,,i have said all along beckel is a fake and a punk….if they have any integrity at fox they would toss his ass to the curb as fast as they did malik zulu shabzzz

      I agree with all that Colmes is definitely the worst….and Sally Kohn is right there. Juan Williams is the best. He doesn’t bother me. If Beckel didn’t talk over everyone and interupt he would be better. The goof up on Hannity didn’t actually bother or offend me. He is not the sharpest tool in the box and lacks class. Others on the programs treating him like he is some cute teddy bear is nauseating. The one time sweet Dana Perino could not finish a phrase because he kept butting in just made me want to turn off the show. The Five is better without Beckel. His being there ruins the show. Put any other liberal on. If you want someone who makes liberals look really stupid get Tamara on. She is the absolute dumbest liberal of all.

    I like beckel. do I agree with him no not ever but he is a great guy to watch. poor guy hope he doesn’t get fired. everybody has a bad day once in while you could see from the beginning beckel was fed up for the day. hope he gets a pass

      Anybody who cannot argue his point without cussing does not deserve all the attention this blowhard gets. That all the people on the panel recognized the word and were laughing at him do not make them any better than he is, they just didn’t get caught. Maybe that‘s why he’s on these shows, because they know he can‘t make is point without cussing so he’s the entertainment for that show when he does it on the air.

    Beckel may be the polar opposite of me in political thinking, but unlike many on the left my gut tells me he is basically a nice guy. And one who at least sits with those on the right and has discourse. I think the poor man made a truly horrific mistake and is genuinely sorry. I’m giving him a pass on this one.

    I watched the program tonight. Beckel was really upset with Hannity though it was not Hannity’s fault. He tried to reassure Beckel that he had appologized and everything would be fine but Beckel did not hide his anger. Heck Biden got caught using the F word. Chill out Beckel. It will be interesting to see where this goes from here.

      No one needs to be silenced. If you don’t know what your foe is thinking, you have no idea what to do in response. It’s also interesting to try to figure out how Mr. Beckel actually reached a point where he’s willing to sacrifice any and all rights of his children in order to achieve his goal of having a czar instead of a President. I always wonder if he understands that his children will never taste freedom, own land or know history if his side wins.
      The left are the ones who want to silence anyone who disagrees with them. Don’t lower yourself to their unconstitutional level.

      LESBIAN PACKING HOLLOW POINTS, likely Juan Williams will be the first to sit in for him. You’ve got a good idea though. I’d love to see Olberman sit at that table and self destruct. I‘d have to bet that he wouldn’t make it through the first show, but it would be fun to watch.

      @HONOR007 – He did apologize – truly. See his twitter posting. And Boortz and Hannity are both standing up for him. After the reality sunk in – he does really sound upset. If “you are who you associate with” is any indication – Beckel has some very good people who seem to be good friends. Don‘t rush to jumble him in the pot with some who really don’t care.

      MARINE249, You’ve got that right. Can you imagine replacing him with Alan Colms? I would refuse to watch The Five then. Hearing him absolutely makes my skin crawl. He‘s had that affect on me since on his radio show back around ’94 when he interviewed a fired funeral home employee who had to do the show from a pay phone. He was fired for necrophilia and Colmes calmly went about the interview as if nothing was wrong with this guy. The radio station that was running his show dropped it altogether during the first commercial. I think they picked up the Black Avenger and cleared out a couple of their other rather lame programs.

      Bob might be on the opposite side when it comes to politics but he is a good human being. He works with fellow Alcoholics. There are many lives he has touched and probably saved. Politics are a small part of our lives and in the end we need to understand that we are all Americans and brother and sister is God’s family.

      Doesn‘t mean that we don’t need to kick their **S on election day but it just goes to show how far this idiot in chief has seperated us.
