Expanding unrest across the Middle East entangled another American journalist in violent protests Wednesday evening after an ABC News correspondent was attacked while covering protests in Bahrain.
According to ABC, reporter Miguel Marquez was beaten during a military crackdown in Bahrain’s capital of Manama. The military action reportedly left two people dead.
Marquez was on the scene early Thursday (local time) as military police stormed Pearl Square, a gathering point for thousands of anti-government protesters. Though he says he was not seriously injured in the ordeal, the ABC correspondent said he was hit with billy clubs and that his camera was confiscated as he tried to explain that he was a journalist.
Like Egyptian protesters, the anti-government movement in Bahrain is pushing for sweeping political reforms from the country’s ruling monarchy.
Marquez was actually on the phone with ABC News in New York when the police crackdown commenced. “There was a canister that looked like — No! No! No! Hey! I’m a journalist here!” he could be heard yelling.
“I’m going! I’m going! I’m going! I’m going!” he said. “I’m hit.“ ”I just got beat rather badly by a gang of thugs,” Marquez said later. “I’m now in a marketplace near our hotel where people are cowering in buildings.”
He delivered the following report live at the scene:
“I mean, these people are not screwing around,” Marque added. “They’re going to clear that square, tonight, ahead of any protest, on Friday. The government clearly does not want this to get any bigger.”

I know the Islamic culture because I have lived with them. Americans our starting to see the true face of Islam now. That is that they murder those who violate anything that violates Sharia and they also rape women and children (including boys) because they think primitively. It may sound stupid and primitive but hey, that is the truth. I have been there with them and that is the way they are. They’re primitive.

You know the one, that Muslims hate America and everyone and everything in it except the other Muslims, who are ONLY here planting their flag all over our nation until they finally come marching row by row out of the Mosques every 3 miles across the landscape they promise are ‘houses of worship’ when we know they’re filled with ammo and weaponry in reality…
They’ve already conquered Michiganistan thanks to liberal loon PC running interference for them gladly. Useful idiots, useful to the enemy of course.

Posted on February 17, 2011 at 11:26amNow that’s funny. What I don’t understand is where is the video? I think they were just sitting around having a drink, happy hour don’t you know, and realized they had to send in a story. They cut off the camera and the cameraman pushed him around a bit. Those sounds he claimed were teargas canisters sure sounded like beer cans hitting the floor to me. I believe nothing unless I have verified it myself.
I’m just saying……..

If you are going to play in their sand-box you should at least learn how to play the game.

Posted on February 17, 2011 at 4:13amEveryone commenting on how violent and frenzied these Muslim protesters are seem to be either very misinformed or just choose to ignore factual truth. First off, the protesters aren’t the ones beating up journalists; the military or government-supported thugs are. This is a recurring theme in all these countries, yet the majority of you still insist the protesters are the violent ones. Get real! Second, the fact that these countries have Muslim majorities is NOT the cause of the violence…greedy bastards who choose to use violence to remain in power are the cause. For further proof that violence exists in nearly every revolution (not just ones involving Muslims), might I suggest looking into the histories of Russia, China, India, Germany, Mexico, Cuba, France, Czech Republic, Greece, Vietnam, and…oh yeah, the United States.

Report Post »According to your link, there was no yellowcake, however there WAS! There was an attempt to purchase NEW material which was described as a reason for the invasion. The yellowcake that was already there had been guarded since 1991 by UN inspectors, not the most trustworthy lot. When Saddam was threatened, those inspectors were tossed out and left the 550 metric tons of material ungaurded. It was feared that Saddam might get it out of there through Syria or directly to Iran.
