‘I’m in Love With Judas:‘ Pop Star Lady Gaga’s New Song Sparks Outrage From Catholics, Critics

From creating a homosexual anthem to now singing about being “in love with Judas.” That’s where pop singer Lady Gaga has gone with her latest single titled, “Judas.” The 25-year-old’s irreverent song was leaked on Friday, and now the Catholic League is speaking out. So, too, are some historic supporters.

Im in Love With Judas: Pop Star Lady Gagas New Song Sparks Outrage From Catholics, Critics

“This is a stunt. People have real talent, and then there is Lady Gaga,” Catholic League President Bill Donohue told the website HollywoodLife.com.

“Lady Gaga tries to continue to shock Catholics and Christians in general: she dresses as a nun … she swallows the rosary. She has now morphed into a caricature of herself.”

You can listen to they lyrics below:

The New York Daily News relays some of the lyrics, and explains the forthcoming music video will be just as irreverent:

The buzzed-about song, and forthcoming music video in which Gaga portrays Mary Magdalene and actor Norman Reedus stars as Judas, includes lyrics such as: “I want to love you/but something’s pulling me away from you/Jesus is my virtue, and Judas is the demon I cling to/ I’m just a holy fool/ oh baby he’s so cruel/ but I’m still in love with Judas, baby.”

In fact, the video was so racy that Gaga’s creative director almost quit on it.

“It went through several changes and late-night debates because at one point, there were two completely different views and I was like, ‘Listen, I don’t want lightning to strike me! I believe in the gospel and I’m not going there,’” she told The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the Daily News, Gaga — whose real name is Stefani Germanotta — was raised a Catholic and even attended Convent of the Sacred Heart in Manhattan as a teen.

But the song isn’t just getting blasted by the expected critics. Professional critics are accusing it of being unoriginal and, frankly, familiar:

“The Red One-produced ‘Judas’ carries echoes of her biggest hits, ‘Bad Romance’ and ‘Poker Face,’ and finds Gaga pushing religious boundaries over a pummeling breakdown,” said Billboard.

Rolling Stone also brought up the similarities in the song to Gaga’s previous work. “Though ‘Judas’ certainly has its own charms and at least three insanely catchy hooks, it leans hard on Gaga‘s signature moves and basically sounds like a cross between ’Bad Romance‘ and ’Poker Face.’”

“After the second verse and chorus, the song breaks down into a churning house song as Gaga chants in much the same way she does in the middle of ‘Born This Way.‘ ’I wanna love you/ But something’s pulling me away from you/ Jesus is my virtue, Judas is the demon I cling to, I cling to,’” added MTV.

The site Gigwise.com says there are fans who agree:

One fan, Anthony Pero, said: “It sounds just like ‘Bad Romance’, she hasn’t pushed any boundaries.”

Serg’s Fault said: “Can you people not see that the verses are ‘Poker Face’, the chorus is ‘Paparazzi’, the judas judaaas is ‘Bad Bomance’ and just embarassing.”

What a bunch of Judases.

She seems to be Madonna lite. Isn‘t this Madonna’s schtick – to profess to be Catholic, yet trash everything that Catholicism holds dear? Gaga isn’t even original in her shocking behavior. Already a has-been at such a young age.

Is there really anything too disturbed or ridiculous for an “artist” who calls herself Lady Gaga?

People who, like to play with their feces are common enough. But I wouldn’t call it art.

This is the world we live in, where absolute truth has been jestisoned for “personal truth”. Nothing means anything. The senses are dulled and only shock can garner attention. Some may remember the secen in the Excorcist where the possessed girl was masturbating with a crucifix. That was a scene meant to truly shock the conscience and dramatize the horror of evil, absolute blasphemy. Now I can see it being done on stage to entertain the bored masses.

Progressives always overcompensate with fanaticism, it’s used as a weapon to kill free opinion, morality is deliberately suppressed, because the ends justify the means, even the vilest. The State is there demigod and anyone who thinks otherwise is of course a political heretic.

Plenty of busy bodies on the right will experience “the vapors” over this one. You gotta remember that conservative ideology was at one time defined by what was termed “the moral majority.” You have this mindset on both the left and right: I don’t like something because it attacks my sacred cows and upsets my apple cart. I’m not saying it matters… but there are lots of people who wanna control what you and I see, hear and read. Some people aren’t happy with others having choice… because they know what’s best for you. Avoid these ME! monsters that lurk on both sides of the ideological spectrum.

This woman is one sick individual. She truly need pschiatric help. Those who listen to and watch her trash are almost as guilty of immorality as she is. She must need attention very badly, negative attention, based on how she dresses and the content of her material. She will have to account for herself with her Maker some day, and for those to whom she gave bad example and led into her kind of immorality.

It’s called being intentionally provocative in order to garner a response. The more “controversial” she makes herself, the more she hopes to provoke you, and in turn convince the youth that she’s some kind of rebel and thus garner a big paycheque when the youth buy her music or show up at her concerts. It‘s humorous insofar as by doing this to get money she’s being as un-rebellious as one can be, and the dupes who follow her antics are oblivious to it.

It’s amateur hour in entertainment now folks. Don’t get riled, just ignore her and I promise you, like every other has been act, she’ll fade away.

As always, vote with your wallet. I don’t care what kind of spectacle she puts on, ’cause I ain’t ever gonna bother to watch or support it. If she ain‘t breakin’ any laws, let the zombies have their pop fix. She’ll go away soon enough… spectacles like this rarely have longevity beyond a decade… and that‘s if they’re talented. This is news?

She should be paying royalties to David Bowie, Madonna, and Marilyn Manson for ripping off their stage acts.

@Cranberry, Really? If you like pop, I can refer you to far more talented musicians that do not have to stupe to “shock” performance art to sell concert tickets. Cranberry, you should stick with The Cranberries, not Gaga.

Lady Gaga is just a publicity hound/attention seeker (similar to Trump?) and the Catholic Church just guarranteed “Gaga” aka Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, is going to sell a couple hundred thousand MORE records of her garbage music. By the way, there is incredible music still being made, it just doesn’t get played on the radio. The more religious groups and the news media become “outraged” by some group, singer, film, television, etc., the more popularity and interest they create for those that have offended them. A tip? Ignore them.

Hey Blaze! Instead of helping the “Gagster” sell more records, could you cover some news more relevent to our lives? S&P just threatened to lower our credit rating, causing The Dow Jones Industrial to tumble significantly.

This chick was never about “music.” I’ll grant she is a savvy performer and is marketed well (indicating she has some shrewd handlers), but to say her talent lies in music is overly generous.
The one thing I did hear about this chick that impressed me is she isn’t too keen on celebs mouthing off over political issues and current events. She pretty much said she’s simple and uninformed and suspects the rest of her ilk fit the same description.
