(Updated With Explanation) Bloomberg Article Forgets to Remove ‘I’m Making This Up’ Note Before Publishing

The media has been pounded in recent days after several blatantly obvious attempts to spin the national narrative were identified and condemned.

On Monday, for instance, MSNBC‘s Andrea Mitchell took Mitt Romney wildly out of context to make it seem like he’s never been to a particular convenience store when he was really making a comparison between the public and private sectors, and on Tuesday, a Bloomberg article allegedly left the comment, “(OK?–I’M MAKING THIS UP)” in the text when it was published.

In case you missed it, the comment is in the second-to-last paragraph, in all caps.  However, it has since been removed from the original article.

Now, while conservative media outlets are claiming this is proof the rest of the media “makes up” its information– are they really lying about what the chairman of Saab AB had to say?  Perhaps they really are pathological liars, or perhaps it’s just a note the authors, Eric Martin and Nacha Cattan, left for themselves/the editor.  You decide.

Either way, it’s a pretty embarrassing editorial mistake on Bloomberg‘s part.

UPDATE:

The original Bloomberg article now includes this note: “(Corrects original story published June 19 to delete extraneous editor’s note from paragraph seven. See GMEET for more on the Los Cabos summit.)”

Ty Trippet, Bloomberg News spokesman, emailed The Blaze:

“The story was published with an editor’s note to the reporter that he was
rewriting the paragraph and was meant for the reporter to check its accuracy.
While the paragraph is accurate and we stand by the reporting, the
editor’s choice of words was unfortunate shorthand.  As soon as we were aware
this happened, we issued a correction to show that the extraneous language was
removed.  We take transparency and accuracy very seriously and appreciate the
opportunity to improve our internal editing practices.”

If you steal enough money through punishing taxes, you can create the utopia. If you just pass enough laws, utopia will appear. You poor deluded soul.

    Does it matter that the media is lying again? I contend that Obama could stab his own mother on national television and he would still wind up with a 33% approval rating. The point is that there is no wrong that a socialist can do(other than NOT tow the party line) that the bought and paid for media won’t gleefully spin a wild a$$ engineered explanation in attempt to squelch public outcry. Even further, when they get caught, the strategy is to just manufacture a new lie to cover the old.

    The most conservatives can do is help strip off the edges of the socialist movement(that is, those who still have a free thinking mind) by providing them with facts while remaining true to freedoms principles. Socialists know that they only need search for the lifelines dropped down from the compliant media and depend on the rank and file to pull them out of the hole and hose em off before anyone see’s the mud. They don’t feel shame, regret or remorse and they don’t live with a sense of responsibility or accountability. It is the ultimate “me first” doctrine that net’s their faithful an empty, miserable existance. Doubtful? Just grab a picture of Hillary and she if isn’t wearing “an expression of misery” like the chains of Bob Marley. Now start looking at the rest of the progressive field, I further contend, beneath the phony smiles, they all own an equal share in that same misery index.

    The “Bloomberg” that this story refers to, is NOT Mayor Bloomberg of NYC. This Bloomberg is a finance and investment company (originally) which now has a website/magazine.

      Not really true; this article and Mayor Bloomberg are related. Mayor Bloomberg owns 88% of Bloomberg LP, which controls Bloomberg Finance/website/magazine, Bloomberg TV, and WBBR Radio in NYC. This is why Mayor Bloomberg has $22 Billion net assests.

    Wow! This sounds like the fellow who got bedbug bites sleeping in a Pullman car, sent a complaint to the railroad, got back a lovely letter apologizing and saying that they never had anyone complain before about bedbugs, but they will look into it…
    Only problem: Clipped to the letter was a note reading, “Send this jerk the bedbug letter!”

    Facts are just a nuisance to liberals. Just today, Senator Merkowski (spelling?) stated that congress has passed a budget and it was signed by Obama and we have to live by it… uhhh, really? But enough uniformed people see the lie, and CNN, MSNBC, etc do not refute it (they just show the video without pointing out the FACTS), so for many it becomes the truth. Over and over until nobody knows what is lie and what is true… and eventually it all collapses, and with it civil society – unless they plan on installing a dictator in a country with more guns than people and a volunteer army. Stranger things have happened.
