‘In for a Doozy’: Severe Oregon Sandstorms Come Early Burying Homes

Oregon Sandstorm comes early

Can you imagine having to dig your home out of this mess? Once would be enough more than enough, right? But residents of Waldport, Ore., deal with this problem every year — several times. But this year they’re staying the storms have come early and they seem worse.

Watch the Fox News Insider report of the mess here:

Here’s more revealing footage of the sand piled against homes:

KEZI local news has more on the storms:

Residents along Oceania Drive have to deal with it every winter.

“How do you do, you just have to dig it out and dig it out and dig it out and dig it out and it’s over and over again,” said Carol Botelho.

But this year is different.

“Not in November, not in November, it’s never this early, not as bad as this,” said Botelho.

KEZI reports that the storms don’t usually hit until January or February. The winds have reached up to 50 mph and sand is piling up to 30 feet high. Most of the homes are classified as vacation rentals and many are vacant.

I have actually driven through that neighborhood. It was built in sand dunes, and sand dunes blow around! If you don’t want to dig the sand from around your house, move up the blooming hill!

The pictures remind me of those from the dust storms across the Country in my Mother’s photograph book. She told us the dust got into everything. I’m sure that sand gets everywhere too. What a mess. We all have our unique problems no matter where we choose to live in this Country.

I live in Medford about 2 hours from the ocean. I have rented a house in Walport for the week end and the sand is really this bad in the winter. The house we rented even had a small amount of sand inside the house. All of the Oregon coast does not have sand storms like this. In Gold Beach Oregon they can get high winds in the winter but they do not have the sand as Walport does. In Walport near the beach there is sand on the streets it is really something.
It is really beautiful on the beach I can understand why people live through the sand storms. I would rather live there than where there are tornados.

I lived in the Willamette Valley in Oregon for 16 years and never heard anything about this. Huh, thought I kept up on the news too. Oh well.

With any luck the whole left coast will be buried in 50′ deep sand drifts.

Yea really. there’s a reason they sit on a fault line. I wish they’d break off and float away and we could ship the rest of the east coast commies, socialists, and marxists to their new non-military island.

Unlike California, the fault line on the Oregon coast goes out to sea about 30-50 miles, then back to shore in Washington. There are good conservative people out here that love God and country. Very few heartless losers like you two.

Why are there no fences or retaining walls? Seems like a 6 foot solid fence around your house would be helpful.

A dip in the ocean is bad enough on the butt of your bathingsuit. I can’t imagine the discomfort level after visiting Oregon in winter.

I feel badly for these people. You know if you come from that area I guess that is part of the deal. I think that would be difficult but it is no different than living in areas where there are mud slides, hurricains, earth quakes, tornados, massive snow falls, droughts, or wild fires.

There’s never enough time to do it right the first time. Only enough time to do it over.
      Where’s FEMA with a handout?

Now all the muslims will flock to the area to buy homes. Property values went up and they have government money to spend.
